    3. Loving some Impldoll. :). I’m wondering if this one has a backstory now and always liking the little fine detailed lines in the eyebrows. Keep doing what you’re doing.

    8. The brows look amazing, and the color you chose for the eyes and lips is gorgeous! I admire your patience for the lashes, mine never turn out as good. The blush is so delicate, it really heightens the faceup!

    9. Thank you for your compliments I very much appreciated I been doing face up since I started this hobby (except few done in company) it really got me inspired to keep practicing till I get the hang of it.

    10. I like the way you’re doing brows, nice and soft with a good shape. I always mess them up, same with lower lashes.

It’s a heck of a steep learning curve doing faceups and no amount of skill drawing or painting on paper (or digitally on a pad) can prepare you for the frustrations you face with resin. All any of us can do is exactly what you’re doing which is keep at it, learn and progress through trial and error and you are learning fast, not afraid to be bold either!

I don’t know if this will be of any help to you, depends on the look you’re trying to achieve, but I find when using bold dark colours that applying a neutral mink brown (a sort of soft grey brown) as a base layer before adding that darker bold colour gives it more depth. Sometimes just adding strong or dark shades straight on top of a pale base makes them look patchy so having something mid range underneath can give them a bit of a boost. Works well for metallic colours too. It’s like if you painted silver nail polish straight onto your nails it doesn’t always look that impressive, however if you had first applied a coat of black then added the silver on top of that suddenly it pops and stands out far more.
I also use that shade to lightly soften and blend the edges of the eye makeup especially in the socket line. Used that for my own actual makeup way back in the day and now find it helps with the faceups on my dolls. I found that particular shade was neutral enough to work with pretty much any colour and suits most ‘skin tones’ that sit between NS and light tan. For very pale or white dolls I instead swapped to a dusky rose or beige tone for the base depending on how pink or yellow tinted the resin is.

Softly applied wine or plum reds can also work well as a base for blacks and silver if going for a more gothy look!
