Luts Tiny Delf Discussion Part 6

Apr 22, 2015

    1. the brown is the lightest version of "tan" that luts offers. it's a bit confusing but they put out the light brown color quite a while before they added the two darker shades tan/darktan. since that is the only "tan" color available without an upcharge it is the most common one, so if your doll is brown not tan it will be the lighter shade you keep seeing

here's a pic of two of my alices together. they look a bit washed out in this picture, but it's the closest i have
[IMG]emrys and alys by onebluestocking, on Flickr
      and
here is a link to one of my brown alices with a ns pukifee to show the difference

    2. Interesting... These are the two images I've seen of the girl I'm getting: One and Two. I wonder if perhaps she's not technically brown but should be labeled as dark tan. The dark skintone is what sold me. It could be the lighting of course. I'll be happy with her either way, though :)

    3. unless it's just the lighting (brown sometimes photographs darker in indoor lighting instead of the outdoors i try and use, since our indoor lighting sucks!), she looks like she may be one of the tans. she is really pretty so i'm sure you'll be happy with her no matter what.

    7. congrats @Twillow she is really cute! i love the black wig with that dark skin.

such a pretty dress @Rikkiti did you make it?

    8. My little boy Luca arrived yesterday. He is so adorable as I expected. But I just don't like his default eyes because they make him looks like an alien (though a cute little alien ).

    9. Congrats on your new arrival!

The eyes Luts send are always very nice quality, but HUGE in the TDs. That's always the first thing I change.

    10. My sweet little Tyltyl arrived yesterday! She's just adorable, and I'm so happy that she's here. My original order for this tiny girl was last September, but she was lost in the mail. Luts really came through for me, and she's home at last. :)

    11. I bet you are much relieved to have this little sweetie home at last. I would have had heart palpitations until I received her if it had been me. :horror:

    12. Thank you. And yes, I will change them soon.:3nodding:

    13. Oh, I am SO happy!! It was awful, and I still haven't gotten over it, lol. The postal carrier dumped her (and the HDF Cream that was supposed to be my daughter's birthday present) off on our doorstep on December 31st without bothering to get the required signature, and one of the people who follow mail trucks around during the holiday season promptly stole them. It took months, but the Luts kept in contact with the Korean postal system, and they eventually refunded the full amount in February. :)

    14. Some of these postal workers need a good kick up the ****! I had a registered parcel that was supposed to be signed for, just left on the ground beside my mail box recently, fortunately for me it was bin day and I saw it when I brought my bin in and before anyone walked by my gate and saw it.

Luckily my dolls come EMS and my delivery man knows me and likes a chat. :)

    15. and so often odd colors, i think they might have got a closeout of punk and fuchsia eyes, that they send out as the random ones

don'teven get my started on mailmen/couriers and their idiot-synchrocies!

    16. LOL, yes, some of them do need a good swift kick where the sun doesn't shine. I had one doll left on my doorstep, no signature again, when it was a record negative thirty degrees here! Fortunately I had been watching the tracking like a hawk, and as soon as I saw he had been left, I called someone to go and rescue him for me. I can't imagine what might have happened to the resin after eight hours. The sad thing is that my dolls all come EMS, too, but I'm usually at work when they arrive, and for some reason the postal carriers don't seem to equate international EMS with US EMS...so they just dump them off. :huh?: Anyway, I now put a big note on the door on delivery days, telling the carrier that the package is signature only.

Heh, it's starting to sound like if someone started a thread on postal horror stories, there would be a lot of participants...

    17. Really agree with you. I ordered human type so I thought they would send me the ones with more natural color.:(

    18. Fairyland was into the "let's see what unnatural color we can send" game for a while, but they seem to have outgrown that. Hopefully Luts will too. I guess I'm lucky...I've always gotten relatively normal colors. Huge, but normal.

    19. yeah, it's probably worth the bit extra it costs to send out useable eyes instead of clearance ones, just to get happy customers who are thrilled with their dolls instead of ones who are disappointed till they replace them....

    20. I'm busted, so there's no order coming forth from me, no matter how cute they are!!

    21. does anyone other than me find it odd that the bunny is in a fox suit and the squirrel in a panda outfit? :?

      • x 2
    22. That was the first thing that came into my head when I saw them...cute, but kind of random! Maybe they're disguising themselves to deter predators. :sweat

    23. ROFL! That's so funny, my first thought was I can understand using the fox suit but a panda? Then I figured a Kung Fu panda could probably deter predators just as well as any fox. :)

    24. Hi everybody! :chibi

I'm going to be getting my hands on a TDF Kai centaur soon! :D I've never had a doll smaller than 26cm before, so I'm very excited!

If I can ask you guys, what style/size of eyes do you find works the best? I believe 14mm are recommended for TDFs, but I know from the wide range of dolls that I do have, that any number of things can make certain eyes fit well, and some fit badly, even if they are supposed to be the same size.

And do you find that 5/6 wigs fit? Or would 6/7 be a better option?

I have so many ideas for what I could do with him (or her? I can't decide yet!), I'm all nearly beside myself and whatnot! XD *flails around and stuff*

    25. @Xanadu Dolls Ha! I don't really need the doll right now, but that kung fu panda image made me REALLY want the panda costume for one of my girls!! :XD:

      @AirimirOfGondor Well, I can't say that I'm an expert, as I have one TDF zebrataur and one TDF fairy, but the eyes I bought for them were both Oscar Doll 14mm, and they fit beautifully. The irises are very large in those tiny faces, which is a look that I love for these little fae creatures (you can see one of my girls here if you're at all interested)...but if that's not the look you're going for, you might want to consider 12mm. I have a 5/6 Luts wig for one of them and a 5/6 Leeke wig for the other, so unless someone steps in and says otherwise, I'd say that's the way to go. ^^;

Flailing and stuff is mandatory! I've always gone for SDs or MSDs in the past, but these little cuties are just completely Kermit-worthy. Congrats on your incoming him or her, whichever the case may be! :dance

    26. @celga thanks so much! :D I think my Kai will be the baby of the herd, so I think 14mm will be a good way to go to make him/her more babyfaced! :)

    27. @AirimirOfGondor : I've put 14mm on mine too (Mako eyes) but it's a Dorothy (... two, I've 2 time the same mold >.<), the eyes are hudges. Maybe you should wait to have him and try some eyes before buying a pair ? I often finish to.. put some eyes on anotherwhen I get some new doll, and the previous one become eyeless...
For the wigs, the 5/6 is perfect, it's almost the same size than a pukifee :)

    28. Hey everyone, I ordered a Tiny20 Gretel. I'm so excited but I'm having trouble finding an outfit. I know the Lati, PKF and regular tiny Delf fit around. They're just short. Does anyone have pics of a tiny 20 in 15cm clothes? Especially pants? I'm hoping they'll just look like Capris. Thank you!!!

    29. @Alishino I have a lot of other size eyes around the house, so testing will be easy-peazy! :) Now it will just be a matter or finding the right look to order when I do know what size I want! :D

    30. @AirimirOfGondor When I had my Kai, I used 12mm eyes. I thought the 14mm just looked too big.

      • x 1
    31. I think that once I get mine, s/he'll 'speak to me,' as it were. :3 That, and seeing him with my other centaurs should help too. :)

    32. Melly123, No I haven't done pants for my 20girls, but I have purchased some cute dresses going for the 17-19cm clothes from companies like GemOfDoll, Dollzone, Maskcat....I also look basically for 16cm dresses (Dollheart) that are floor length, on the Luts20 they look regular knee length or I go for tops and shorts or skirts.

    33. Thank you stellar :)

    34. I got my Kai! :D I was totally not anticipating exactly how small he was going to be! He's so precious! *dies*

I can't decide on his name, and he doesn't have a wig, or proper eyes yet, and I forgot to charge my camera so I don't have any photos yet, but I'm already feeling like I want a whole bunch more, even though this was supposed to be my last centaur! And I definitely don't have the money for it now! :XD:

    35. well as usually i didn't get a shipping notice from luts, but i just did a random check on my pino and she shipped out last friday :) should be here in a week or two!

    36. What date did you order yours Auntbear? Mine hasn't moved since I ordered.

    37. april 19th, and i ordered her blank, what did you order?

    38. I ordered with face up, wing and blushing, and a wig on the 16th, so shouldn't be much longer to wait now, perhaps another week or two for it to ship.

    39. yeah, ive never ordered face ups so don't know how much longer that takes, but hopefully not too long

pino has made it through customs already and tracking says she is expected for delivery tomorrow! (which means i'll probably get her thursday ;)) that was amazingly fast either way!

    45. I miss my tiny20 Kai-- who I sold to a friend, so I get to live through all of yours. >w< I wish Iw ould have went with the regular body instead of the 20...

Your alice is super cute. Love those cheeks. >3

    46. Congrats babyelf , she is adorable !!! I love her outfit :D

    47. That is... so adorable! She's perfect.

    48. And what a little sweetie she is too! :aheartbea I love the outfit on her, did you make it?

    49. I can't tell if my Kai is a boy or girl yet. Q_Q It was originally a girl character, but then when I got it, I thought it was a boy, but now that I'm working on the wig, I can't tell anymore...

    50. she is sweet @babyelf

maybe you can try again some day with a regular td kai then @Fate since kai isn't a limited edition

kai will probably tell you what he/she wants to be once he/she is all done @AirimirOfGondor that's the nicest thing about the angel bodies, you don't have to decide ahead of time.

i got a change today to pull my pinot out and at least start her faceup. i thought people might be interested in the profile, since that is something that is seldom shown on the luts website. i was also impressed with the random eyes for once. instead of a weird color they are a very pretty light blue with tiny streaks in them. i think she will actually get to use her defaults, which might be a first for me out of all the dolls i have bought!

    51. So many adorable tinies :aheartbea I've been stalking the TD thread a bit. : x
(edited because that was not the face I was going for. at all.)

    52. now that it isn't a double post ;) i can post the other blank shot of pinot.

i really hope they decide to bring her back as a basic some day. this is the first tiny delf shot i have really liked since alice and heidi

    53. @auntbear she's a cutie alright, I can't wait for mine to arrive. I'm also interested to see what you do with her face-up, assuming your Pino is a she. :)

    54. she is definitely a girl, much to the dismay of noah and emrys, but those two little troublemakers are all the boys i can handle in this size! it may take a while to get her face done though. after a week or more of hot weather it is threatening to rain now...

    55. @auntbear her face is rather different than a lot of the other TDFs. A lot of them have slightly more exaggerated features; some of them proportionally bigger and some of them proportionally smaller for the size of the face and other features, but Pinot looks more realistic while a lot of the others are more stylized. :)
I really like her lower lip in particular! XD

    56. yeah, it was the realism of this sculpt that got me too. she fits in much better with my other dolls than most of the td's do

    57. I can't wait to see what she looks like with a face-up!
