Luts Model Delf 45cm (MDF) mature mini discussion part 2

Hello! I will definitely be browsing through the rest of the thread in search of this, but just in case someone reads my message before I find it, I wonder if anyone has any photos of their KDF heads on the MDF body? Preferably male? I'd like to see the nude upper body and head together. I'm basically looking for a tall MSD to pair with my KDF and I like the MDF bodies, but I worry that their heads will be too small looking in comparison to other MSDs... maybe that won't be the case? I'll keep looking!

*After looking through the thread* there are a lot of great photos! I wonder if anyone has photos and comparisons of a KDF next to a MDF body with a KDF head, preferably male for both.

A brief shirtless posing album for my MDF and KDF. Blue is on the MDF v2 (slim) body which I believe is discontinued. Annick is on the KDF v2 body. I don't think they look bad together but I'm not sure they read as a pair.

@myuupi When it comes to head on neck, I don't think it'd look good to swap and they won't fit (the KDF neck is so much smaller than the V2 neck). I'm glad it was otherwise helpful.

 

That's good to know! When I looked a couple months ago, I vaguely remember there being a "KDF neck" option when I was looking at purchasing the body alone. Not entirely sure what that means know but I'll research it!

 

The option is not for the actual neck but for the correct size S hook. KDF heads use a bigger hook than mdf heads.

 

how tall is the KDF? i know the MDF's stand at 45cm..

 

KDF is around 41-42cm depending on how big the head is. The only KDF body that’s taller is the Kid45 body which has similar proportions and height to the MDF male body.

Does anyone have a pair of heeled MDF feet on a boy MDF body?

I just bought Dion with the muscular body and I'd love a pair of heeled feet for it, but the website officially says they're only for the girl bodies. I know the feet themselves would be a tad smaller, but could the ball joint fit anyway? If anyone happens to have the two and would be willing to test, I'd appreciate it greatly! I'll ask Luts as well, but I have no idea if they'd be willing to give some measurements and/or do some testing, or just give me the bog standard answer.

EDIT: I'm now trying to find heeled feet from other companies that would work. No luck as of yet...

@A Wee Tiefling I haven't! They somehow completely slipped my mind. So far, in terms of sizing, I've considered the SoulDoll Kid ones and the Dollits ones.

To give some updated measurements I've been able to scrounge:

MDF muscle boy feet
- ankle diameter: 1.5 ~ 1.6 cm
- foot length: 5.4 cm
- foot width: 2.5 cm

SoulDoll N.L girl heeled feet
- ankle circumference: 5.3 cm
- foot length : 5.5 cm
- foot width : 2 cm

Dika D.K.Dg B body's Heel foot
- ankle diameter: 1.8 cm
- foot length: 5.4 cm
- foot width: 2.2 cm

I'll hop onto the RS discussion board see if anyone has some sizing info for those footsies. Thank you

 

@mxwutter I can try the KDF heeled feet on my MDF too, though I don't think they have the same ankle.

My very first BJD is arriving in about 2 days! I got the Lady Ghost Ann Romance Ver from the winter event! She has the New Type 2 body and is 43cm. I hope this is the relevant thread for her!

I already named her Alice! My inspiration is from the anime Rozen Maiden.

The goal of the dolls is to become the image of perfection, known as "Alice", and meet their "father". He made these dolls in an attempt to make the "perfect doll" but feels that he failed in some way with each of them and rejects them. So, he decided to have a tournament. He gave each doll a fragment of his soul, a Rosa Mystica. With these soul fragments inside them, the dolls become sentient and can move on their own. Now they each must battle and collect all of the Rosa Mystica so that they may transform into Alice. This anime follows their adventures as they try to reach that goal.

I am so excited! I got her in Zuzu White like the photos. I'm hoping to do some winter themed photography next winter with her! Ghost/yukionna(snow fairy) to start!

I also went nuts while waiting for her and got a bunch of outfits according to her measurements. I feel a fashion show in the gallery will be coming later!

 

Still waiting on my Bliss and Xylon from the winter event...but I'm already thinking about fantasy colored dolls. Maybe Blanchet in blue and Terra in pink? Although I'll have to wait and see if any of the limited MDF have elf ears.

 

I'm actually thinking about putting up a WTB thread for MDF heads. I'm growing more and more attached to the non-human heads.

I'm just really sad I missed the Moonlit Song Story dolls back in 2014... The Pegasus Jamong and Pegasus Berry have been my Holy Grail dolls since then. I absolutely love the Jamong Elf head.

 

Are all MDF elf-eared heads limited? Why must they tease us so

 

Right?! They are my absolute favorite heads I have seen so far. Also, why don't they offer heads alone? I know they do for events but they would get so much business if they allowed people to purchase heads as a regular item!

 

I cannot agree more with this line of conversation. Of course, to be fair, if they did offer regular elf eared heads, my wallet would be sobbing.

 

Just offering heads may be cost prohibitive for the casting process, as frustrating as it may be

 

^ I wish they'd at least sell the sleeping heads again, I'd love to buy one for my Avalanche. :<

I would be willing to pay extra as they are special heads but not as much as a full doll.

Like if they only offered them during event periods but more often than they have been. Or more options or renewals. Maybe that would also help. Like this past winter event had Ani and Pring but only those 2. When are we going to see them next?

I didn't jump on the heads when I should have... I only got the full Ani doll. Maybe next time!

 

My Ghost Lady doll finally showed up! Oh my gosh! I'm so excited! I already made a profile for her!

She is taller than I expected even though I checked with a metric ruler! But I still think she is the perfect size for me! She is the first doll I ever ordered but was third to arrive! She will be one of my primary dolls though. The other 2 are much too specialized for what I want to do.

I'm a little sad that I still have to wait 6 months for the snow to come back so I can do the photography session I wanted to do. That fake snow doesn't cut it and gets everywhere!

Larimar is super cute! Her rounder face is so sweet. Can't wait to see the other 2 sculpts and more pictures of all of them

Oh no Raven damn I hope I'm receiving a big pay check this month (and if not then that he's just a regular doll that'll be normally available outside of the event too...). Larimal is so cute too, such a sweet face! I'm just all heart eyes here over both ❤️

Edited to add; thinking about it, the other two dolls are gonna be some sort of special version of these two most likely? If yes then I'd totally buy Raven and the special head for him (unless it has some very weird expression, the smirk ruined the previous event's Xylon head for me, if it had been just the eye I would have ordered him in a heartbeat)

 

Oh, if there is a limited fantasy version of Raven and I can get it in Luts limited fantasy colors, I may just faint. Circling back to my previous point on weeping wallets and elf eared sculpts. Raven is gorgeous enough as it is, but if they ever made him with elf ears...

Raven as elf is beautiful and I'm kind of angry because I already shelled my elf character into Avalanche (without elf ears) and this would have been so much better option, if only I could have seen the future back then... now to decide if I'm reshelling Varis into Raven and turning Avalanche in separate character or if I'll pretend I didn't see Raven and live with my choises.... The same time idea of getting Raven with white shin instead of tan sounds appealing too... Somebody tell me I don't need two Ravens

Edited to add; ooh wait, I could just get the elf Raven head in tan separately and he and Avalanche can then share a body, yes that's what I'm gonna do!

 

/cries in no money/ I wish they made him into a 65cm version though. I already have a Romance Raven on his way so I would gladly just buy the head if they ever release this elf version in Senior65 size.

 

The elf versions look incredible! Usually the head scale on model delfs throw me off (I love my dolls with big round heads lol!) but the proportions on Larimar look good! I need to see her blank head photos but she's really throwing my order plans for a loop

Does anyone have any guesses as to when Luts will resume making option parts? It was kinda the reason why I pushed making my order back because I really want the heel feet in the special resin color

I am so totally getting the Raven Elf Romance doll! My weakness for Luts Romance and Elf heads is overwhelming!

 

Oh wow, Raven is gorgeous as an elf. Now I just need to figure out what resin color to get him in.

 

Has anyone ever tried kid delf hands on a model delf body?

 

Hmmm I haven't but I DO have an old KDF Romance body laying around somewhere, let me try to find it(it's in a box somewhere since we moved) and get back to you. I am thinking probably a little wonky because the wrists on the MDFs are smaller but I'll check for sure.

 

After admiring and wanting a Model Delf since they were first shown, I have finally purchased one! A strawberry pink Larimar will be 1 of 2 new dolls coming home after not purchasing any in like 5 years

It was actually really funny reading through all of the previous MDF discussion from the first post and seeing my old comments pop up

That would be so helpful thank you! I ordered a pair of the KDF heart hands and s hooks with my Larimar so it'd be nice to know how much or if any sanding will need to be done for them to fit.

 

@Serein Ooooh, Larimar in strawberry pink sounds fantastic! Are you getting the elf version or the regular one? They both have such cute faces. And the heart hands is a really cute idea if they fit!

I'm still working on trying to figure out which resin color I want my Raven elf in. I love fantasy resin so much. I'm also debating whether to get him with face up or not, I'm leaning no since I enjoy customizing my characters, but I do love Luts's face ups and I don't actually have one of theirs...

In the meantime, though, here's my Terra boy in lavender.

I love him so much! Also that picture is very helpful in seeing the lavender shade. It looks very subtle.

I ended up getting my Raven Elf in Zuzu White actually. To pair him with my Lady Ghost in the same color. But I have to order Larimar Elf as a full doll to get her head in Zuzu White... It's frustrating but oh well. I opted for a type 1 body so I guess I have options later.

I wanted them to be an Elf couple for the world I'm creating for them. Alice(Lady Ghost) has her profile up already. Another character just shipped yesterday so I can get hers up soon too!

 

I decided to get the regular head. If the elf head had the open eyes, I think I would have gotten it. Luts always has unique and pretty elf ear shapes I love them so much.

I love the scar and blind eye on your lavender Terra boy! He's got a lot of character. I feel like Raven would look so handsome in gray or mint gray for the fantasy resin! Zuzu white or any of the tans too for non fantasy colors

@Kiarla Congrats on your elf couple! It's too bad that Luts doesn't offer the heads in anything but the white or normal skin. I guess it's because it's harder to match the other resins from other batches? But now you'll have three beautiful mdf's to pose together!

@Serein Fair enough, the open eyes are really nice! And thanks! I fell in love with the werewolf version of Terra when I first saw him, plus I was actually trying to shell a werewolf character at the time. I'm kind of debating on the grey, actually, one of my other elves is already in the mint grey, so I'm leaning away from that one. Tan is also very tempting though...

 

Wait they don't?! Aww man, there goes my plan for getting the Raven head for my Varis, I would have needed it in brown I wouldn't even mind if the color was bit different from the body. Guess I'll still ask their q&a board to make sure it's not possible but I guess if not then I'm just getting a body for Winter now that parts are available again.

 

Hello everyone.
I'm planning to order a Model Delf body in lavender skin. How is Luts lavender resin? I have a Souldoll Aehael in purple resin and it faded into grey, it doesn't look like purple anymore, which is sad.
@Magnus Vale Do you notice any colour change on your Terra boy?

 

Well, I haven't seen any fading or color changing on my boy yet! He's a lovely lavender color. I've had him for about a year now, and he still looks great. The picture I posted earlier was just taken last week.

 

Hi! I’m considering buying a mdf male body, and had a couple of questions:
1. I’m going to hybrid the body with a different head so that he matches as the boyfriend of another doll. If anyone has done this, I’d love to see height difference pictures I already saw a few but it’s always helpful to see different sculpts.
2. Which of the 3 bodies is easiest to find clothes/shoes for? I think the slender is the closest to minifee boy, but still pretty large compared to the latter, and I don’t see too big a difference among the 3… with my untrained eye xD So let me know if anyone has bought an mdf body and has anything to share on this subject, thanks!

 

@Serein I have returned after locating my extra old body! Right off the bat there's a minor compatibility issue, however I don't think it's a deal breaker, you may need to adjust the tension in the arms though. KDF (All but body 5) have s hooks in the wrists, while the MDF hands are two part (hand and ball separate) with a sculpted hook.

That being said if you do tighten the arms i think it will be an easy adjustment, the hands are quite similar in size and the ball joints are only slightly smaller on the MDF, you may not even need to sand at all, but might want to anyhow to make it a wee bit more fluid. I wasn't able to get a pic directly on the MDF as I didn't wanna mess with my tension but here's a side by side.

Pics of my new rosy brown Bliss. Also got a winking Xylon head in white currently waiting on a body, and am trying to hold myself back from grabbing an elf Larimar - I'd really like her in a fantasy color, but would probably only be able to afford the head, and only if one of my other heads I have up sells before then...

 

@Candycanes02 I have had two of the 3 MDF bodies (currently only own one) and they are significantly larger in scale than minifees. It's not hard to find clothes for them, they're still within acceptable 1/4 scale for clothes. The body I had was the muscular body and it would be the hardest to clothe due to the musculature. I currently have the slim body (not the skinniest) and he doesn't look bad in 1/4 clothes ay all. Some of them look a bit childish in scale/style but they fit.

 

Welp, my finances are awful this month, but I managed to grab Raven's limited elf head. I can get him a body later! Since the head is limited, but I can always get him a body later, I thought that was the best choice.

Ordered Elf Raven in mint grey. I wanted an extra, non elf head but luts won't sell just a head in the special resin.
Still, really looking forward to having this boy at home in the next few months.
