Luts Model Delf 45cm (MDF) mature mini discussion part 2

Jul 28, 2018

    1. @shirotsuki that resin colour is so cute with the soft blush!!!! Really like the purple eye faceup part too. Love that hoodie he’s wearing. Seeing your Bliss makes me want one XD

I’ve seen that the new MDF body can wear many msd sized clothes which is pretty awesome.

    2. @shirotsuki Oh, your boy is gorgeous! I ended up with the mint grey for my Bory, but that color looks so good! He has such a lovely faceup too!

      • x 1
    3. Thanks everyone!! It was hard to pick the color and a little challenging to coordinate a face up with, but he's been super fun to handle.

I wasn't expecting to have anything for him to wear. He's wearing some MSD clothes from Nine9style, the only thing that's a little off is the length of the pants. (I guess the jacket is from Etsy too)

@neon_jellyfish oh Dia is so pretty! I hope you'll share pics once she's arrived and settled in!

@Magnus Vale it was hard to not get another Bory lmao. My KDF Bory is probably the doll I've had the longest out of everybody haha.

    4. Hey everyone! I’m debating whether to get the limited edition MDF in one of the special skin colors but what’s holding me back is what clothes and shoes fits the female body besides Nine9style and Luts. Thank you!

    5. Has anyone heard if MDF Diez has started shipping yet?

    6. I would have replied sooner but couldn't remember the name of the company I wanted to add to your list. It's Sadol. Clothes for their Cutie 40 doll body fit female MDF.

    7. My bubble mint MDF Dia arrived at customs office, I'll go rescue her on Monday. Ordered her on December 19, so it took them a month to make and ship her. That was faster than I expected!

    8. Luts is definitely the quickest bjd company I've ordered from. My MDF Abadon and Blanchet were my first two dolls and they are still my only msd... But I love them so, so much.
They are heavier than some of my SDs though, but that helps me pretend they are more durable.

    9. Looks amazing! I am thinking of putting a Luts Kdf Bory or Yul on a MDF body, the new slim one. Is the boy you have pictured on a slim MDF body?

Anyone have any naked photos of a Kid Delf head on a Model Delf Slim body? I really want to see what the proportions look like! :) Thanks!

    10. @leishaj777 The slender body is the newest one right? I ordered the Bory Romance Head on the new body in that recent event, here's a picture of him. Hope that helps a bit?

Can't wait to get him back. My face-up artist just sent me pics of him, and he's gonna be gorgeous...<3

    11. Omg, that's perfect, thank you! He is truly gorgeous, congrats! The proportions work so much better than I thought they would! Yay! I will have to invest in a body, now :D Thank you so much!

    12. Did you guys know that Luts sells jointed hand for model delf and kid delf?
upon scrolling down further, it is Doll Legend's one.

    13. Update, I still love this combo of kid delf head on model delf bodies.

    14. My Lazuli's new heel legs, clear blue high heels and fairy outfit arrived. It took me an hour and a half to change from her flat feet to the heel legs. Her legs are strung separately, which should have made it easier, but the string already attached to each new leg was too tight for me to hook it to the resin knob inside her hip joint. The knots were so tight I couldn't loosen them. I ended up cutting off the strings of the new legs and replacing them with the old strings, which I had to retie to make them tighter now that they no longer had to reach all the way down to her feet. Thank goodness I don't have many flat shoes that she can wear because I am never changing them back!

    15. Cool shoes. Are they transparent resin?

    16. Yes they are! I noticed the shoes first, then also bought the outfit shown with them. Here's a close-up:

    18. I need a bit of help...I'm trying to find a slim body for my MDF head and I was thinking of Dollzone. Has anyone seen an MDF head on the Dollzone B45-018 body?

    19. Hi all

I had a quick scan of this thread and part 1, did a search on Flickr etc. but couldn't see what I was after so was wondering if someone here could help and point me in the direction of a comparison photo of the female MDF body vs other similar sized girls such as Iplehouse FID or Raccoon doll?

Thanks in advance for any help offered.

    20. @dobby - I have all 3: MDF, FID and Raccoon. I haven't taken comparison photos of all 3 together but I can take one if you don't mind that they are fully clothed. My MDF, for one, takes a bit of doing to get her out of her costume. I can throw in Iplehouse CREAA and Creature Doll, if you're interested.
And here they are. Left to right: Creature Doll, Raccoon Doll, Model Delf, Iplehouse FID, Iplehouse CREAA. Model Delf and FID are the only ones wearing high heels.

    21. @vermont chick THANK YOU SO MUCH! And no, I don't mind the clothing, just wanted a rough idea of how they'd look together scale wise and that photo is perfect. Thanks again.

Also, sidenote, they're all lovely and I really like their style particularly your Creature Doll's dress. Gorgeous!

    22. Thanks! I was surprised when I lined them up to see that the Model Delf was so much shorter, even with the heel legs which have a very high heel. But then that doesn't bother me because people vary in height and body type so they all work together.

I'm glad you like their style. I made all the outfits except MDF's and CREAA's. (Hers is an old Ellowyne Wilde dress.)

I should mention that Lazuli is one of two MDF sculpts with a small head (size 5-6). The others are all size 6-7 and look like aliens next to the fashion dolls.

    23. I was a little surprised by that too but yes, like you say they all look great together.

I love handmade dresses and outfits the best on dolls, some company outfits are nice but I like the uniqueness and personal touch of non mass produced items.

The MDF I was considering buying had a " my choice" KDF head which is 6-7 but I think I prefer the smaller 5-6 head after viewing your photos. Thanks again for taking them.

    24. I generally prefer to make my dolls' clothing, for the simple reason that it saves me money which I can then spend on new dolls.;) Even so, I just had to have the MDF outfit because one of my CREAA girls wears a similar outfit from Iplehouse--same colors, fabrics and everything--making them look like they were planned to go together.

The problem with choosing a smaller head for MDF is that if you don't like either of the two Luts has in that size, you have to buy one from another company. It can be hard to find a company that sells the heads alone, although Raccoon has had a couple of sales where you could.

    25. Please excuse me while 80% of my next conversation in this thread will consist of the word "werewolf" interspersed with happy noises. I definitely want a lavender werewolf Terra.

Ani as a nine tailed fox is super cute too!

      • x 3
    26. I am a little bitter about the Werewolf Terra not because he isnt great, but because they basically took the hands, feet, and ears of Model Delf Leo, but didnt actually give us Leo and I really, really want him DX Dangit Luts, how many times do I have to bug your restock request page?

    27. Well... I've been staring at her every single day since Luts released the announcement and I finally caved and bought the Nine-Tailed Fox Ani. She just absolutely captured my heart!! ;;^;;;

    28. Congrats @Kurr! Be sure and post lots of pics when she arrives.

    29. @vermont chick I sure will! Even though I bought her now, I am STILL staring at her page everyday...I can't wait to take tons of pictures of my own girl when she arrives. <3

    30. Gosh this is super adorable!! May i ask where did you get the eyes? * o *

    31. They're commissioned eyes by Lemon Jelly Shoppe on instagram!

    32. Oh got it! Thanks a lot!’m! ><

    33. Sharing today's Milo appreciation picture, since he's freshly blushed and tattoo'd.

    34. @Magnus Vale - Cool detail work. The mint grey looks so different outside.

    35. He really is fun to photograph in different lighting! Sometimes he almost looks blue or purple. Honestly, it's an amazing resin color.

Can't wait to get my lavender Terra too, so I can photograph my fantasy boys together!

      • x 3
    36. @Magnus Vale - I kind of want luts to release another really cool elf sculpt I like when these limited colours are available. But I really don't need anymore msds upending my bjd plans, haha.

    37. @xyuemoto I feel ya! Elf sculpts are my favorites, and these fantasy resin colors are amazing! But also, expensive.
Werewolf Terra, though, I had been actually looking for a werewolf doll specifically to shell Milo's boyfriend from my story, so that worked out oddly well. Fantasy resin was a bonus!

    38. I am glad none of the heads for the kdf45 release are elves, haha. That's cool they released what you were looking for and you were able to get a cool colour too.

    39. Ugh, I know! I would totally be extra tempted if they were! If they released the Yul or Berry elf version...

Yeah, it definitely was a happy coinicidence! I had recently found another werewolf boy that was a limited release a while back, but obviously missed him, but I like Terra even better! The scar is cool. Plus I am now capable of blushing his hands and claws myself, so that's gonna be fun to customize!

Faceups, though....ehehehe....I had another practice disaster today.

    40. @Magnus Vale - The satyr yul elf sculpt is really cool. I'm glad he's not on there, it would be too tempting. I don't like doing faceups but I keep ending up getting heads blank ugh, haha. I want to try to get into blushing hands/body but I'm not in a rush, maybe when I need a project to work on haha.

    41. Hiya! Does anyone have a Withdoll JWD (new version) girl body and a Luts Model girl body (new version)? I'm wondering how they compare size wise. Are they very close in size or very dissimilar? :sweat

    42. I do have JWD girl new version, but my girl mdf is the old body type.

    43. My boy arrived yesterday! His wig doesn't fit, his pants are too tight and I forgot to buy him eyes! :XD::XD::doh:doh:doh He's temporarily wearing a wig I bought for my tiny that looks terrible on him (a blond wig with his dark eyebrows, it looks like a bad dye job), but at least it fits on his little pea head.

      • x 2
    44. @Epicari - I also have the new JWD girl body and an old version Model Delf girl body, like @marxwyn does.

@Featherfire - Congrats on your boy's arrival, event if his look hasn't come together yet. (Don't worry, it will.) Which MDF did you get?

    45. @vermont chick Diez! I bought some eyes yesterday, still hunting for hair and better clothes. It's even harder right now because I'd really prefer to buy within the US so I don't have to wait a million years.

    46. Awesome, thank you. How do they compare size wise?

    47. @Epicari - Overall, old Luts MDF is taller (43cm vs 41.85), with bigger bust (19.3cm vs 17.85cm for C size), larger waist (13.5 cm vs 12.5cm) and wider hips (20.8cm vs 18.5 cm) than JWD new version. We're talking centimeters here, so differences aren't really huge. It will make a difference in how some clothing fits, but they don't look that different side-by-side unless one has flat feet and the other has heels, or if one girl has a larger or smaller bust where ordering gives you a choice. Their feet are very close in length and width; where they differ is in the arch of the heeled foot. MDF wear much higher heels.

FYI, I didn't measure my two dolls. I keep a chart of measurements. When I buy a doll I copy her measurements to my chart so I always have the information handy.

@Featherfire - It's very tempting to buy only from US sources right now because of how the Covid-19 quarantine is affecting international shipments. Packages seem to be piling up at ports of entry. Unfortunately, everything I have on order right now is coming from overseas. I haven't received anything in ages.

    48. Does anyone have a male body in whiteskin blushed? I'm curious how blushing looks, i've never had a whiteskin body before but I'm looking at getting a white skin Kale.

    49. @TheKidAbroad I don't have a blushed WS but I do have one. It is DEFINITELY not paper white if that is what you're looking for.

    50. Actually I was more AFRAID it was paper white so that's great to hear :sweat

    51. @TheKidAbroad I'm in the process of moving but when I can unpack my dolls I'll get the pics for you.

    52. Awesome, thanks for the info! It's good to know they're so close in body shape so hopefully that'll work out for my plans :XD:

    53. Hi~ I've really been planning on getting the MDF slim body & a head from little Monica little line. I have seen a reference and it does work.. but my one worry is that I can't find any good clothes that I could buy for the body except from the small range of clothes on the luts website...mainly looking for tops ( especially school uniform stuff - can buy each thing separately) if anyone knows any good shops/ places I could get clothes for the MDF body?

    54. Loose fitting MSD clothing normally fits. Also look at the brands listed on the cloths on Luts and you can check that companies taobao for more variation of the same cloths. For example a pair of shorts marked to fit MDF Girls is only offered in Pink and Blue on Luts website, but in 9 colors on the seamstress's taobao page.

    55. Oh thank you so much!:XD:

    56. Hello! I recently put in an order for Bliss, with the second faceup option-- the character I will be shelling is one of my OCs, a girl named Columbine. I'm wondering if Bliss' body will fit OK in girls' doll clothes, since it's technically a 'male' body type (I ordered the slender body option). Does anyone have any experience or advice with this? I'm hoping that there isn't a huge difference size-wise and that she will be able to fit things like dresses and sweaters and skirts just fine, as she wears mori-girl style clothes.

      • x 1
    57. @angelangel - My advice is I would suggest you compare the measurements of the slender body to whatever bjd is used as the model to size the clothes you want to buy. The slender body is on the larger end of the measurement ranges for standard msd boys. If the clothes you are looking at are sized specifically to girl msds there is a chance they might not fit properly as they are usually overall smaller in size.

      • x 2
    58. Thanks so much for the informative answer!!! This is a great idea, comparing the measurements to the specific model doll in clothes listings isn't something I had thought of-- I'll be sure to make notes of all her measurements so that I can be certain when I order clothes for her. She likes fairly loose-fitting clothes anyway, so hopefully that will make things a bit easier.

Do you think 1/3 size items like sweaters/cardigans would work as 'oversized,' or would they just be waaay too big? I want her to look cozy and comfortable, but I don't want her to be, like, swimming in it...

    59. @angelangel - I mainly collect msds so I couldn't help too much there, but comparing measurements should still help in general. Keep in mind proportions if you try that route. Even an sd girl only 50cm tall (only 5cm~ taller than mdf) could have arm, leg, and torso lengths that could make certain clothes designed for her look odd on a shorter doll even if it technically "fits". Also just an idea, I would suggest getting a measuring tape could help visualise "swimming" issues if you can't guess it in your head. For example, website says mdf slender waist is 14.6cm and say you see a skirt fitted to doll with 16cm waist. You could put the measuring tape around your doll waist sized to 16cm and you could tell whether you think the gap is too much for the fit you want or not. But generally because sds are taller than msds, things like sleeves and pant legs being too long is a common issue.

      • x 3
    60. @xyuemoto Thank you so much again for the detailed response! I have a measuring tape already so I'll be sure to use it to help me visualize things, that's a great idea. I know how to sew a little bit, too, so I bet I could tailor things if they just need a tuck at the waist or something. She probably won't be wearing pants much, but the sleeve length thing is definitely something I'll keep in mind! :D
