Luts Kid Delf Discussion part 17

Saw today on Instagram Luts posted a preview of their winter event and they're offering purchase of a bunch of their past event head's. I'm super excited to finally get my hands on a Cherry Elf head. Is anyone else thinking of grabbing past event head's they may have missed out on?

There was one sculpt I was looking at a few days ago, my last line of defense for my wallet was that ‘hey it’s limited and sold out, don’t have to buy anything!’ I should’ve known that in the Bjd world the second you think you’re safe that’s when they drop something you want haha! At least it’s just a head lol

 

I love the 2021 summer head. It’s nice they bring a lot of past limited heads back lately

Luts is showing new body, kid48 boy and kid47 girl. they just keep getting taller!!

 

I guess like real kids they just start sprouting and growing taller and taller! I’m so excited to see the new body compared to the others, and of course I’m excited to see the poses it can do!

I have two kid delfs (though one’s still being made) I use to shell characters from a game I really like, and the two I have right now are the shortest of the cast. I always thought that if I ever tried to shell another character the height’s being the same might look weird, but it looks like luts has my back haha!

 

you can get some variation if you order model delf body or kid45 too. model delf is my favorite body to order kid delf heads on.
when i had a kid45 i thought she was awkwardly tall tho for my taste.

 

On one hand the new bodies look really nice, but on the other hand, I feel like the different variations in size and height make it more difficult to buy clothing for. I like how regular kid delfs are a standard MSD size and fit clothes from across multiple companies like nine9style, Sadol, dollheart, volks etc.. but creating these taller slimmer proportions makes it more difficult to find clothes that fit well. These new bodies are only 10cm shorter than the Delf line.

This kind of makes sense though given the direction their newer sculpts seem to be headed. New sculpts have more mature features, smaller eyes. A lot of the older heads that they discontinued are more childish and I think suit the standard kid delf body more than these newer bodies they've been designing. But the newer heads kind of work for both I guess.

 

After looking through, there are 2 I want, a 3rd hasn't been added but it's a pass event gift head like the rest so I've asked if they can add it. If so that will be 3 dolls and I will bring my floating heads to 19. It'll be bodies for me for years haha

 

I succumbed and put a Loe head on layaway (and an SDF Niya head). I was surprised at Loe's discontinuation because she is used in so many promo images.

 

I ordered 2 carrot heads ugh I just couldn't let it go.

 

Looks like Luts had some in stock heads? I almost missed their post about it on sms but I did see it while browsing the kid delf event heads. I managed to grab a KDF elf bory in RSW!

 

@TenguxChan I agree with you, I moved away from SoulKids because I thought their bodies were hard to find clothes (AND SHOES) for, and Dream Valley is similar, tall and slim and just impossible to dress. KDFs were so cute and the scale is great for roomboxes. Plus I never had to worry about not finding even a basic outfit. Now I'll likely be sticking to other companies if I'm shelling petite characters.

The wait begins for my Coco and Woori. I gave up on Apple and Peach (and Almond and Mill and Kelp and and and). I think I'll get Woori and maybe try to get a fantasy body for him, probably an off topic one but if they make fantasy parts going forward then I'll be back to Luts.

 

I don't love the super tall MSD new bodies. I have so many odd sized dolls that are almost impossible to outfit. I hope Luts keeps the Kid45 and their standard kid Delf bodies.

 

My girl has the standard/default kid Delf girl body. I’ve been looking at the mature body options but there is a certain “look” I want that is more seamless and lovely. I’ve been picky...

 

idk what you mean by seamless but model delf body is really nice mature option. most of my kid delf have this one

 

I was definitely thinking over the model delf body!

 

I really like the new taller KDF bodies! Can’t wait to see more pictures of them eventually. The new KDF Abadon really appeals to me, but I’ve been kind of neutral on the KDF45 male body and the regular KDF bodies don’t appeal to me (at least for that sculpt). If I ever get him, I’d like him to be the same height or taller than Lemon.

MSDs are my favourite size, but I’ve always been drawn towards the ones on the taller end. My Rosette doll is something like 47-48 cms and I got her forever ago. It’s really nice to see that some taller MSDs are becoming more common.

When I got Lemon, I got her on the KDF45, and I love this body so much. Really glad I didn’t get her way back when because the body wouldn’t exist for a long time. She’s become my favourite doll and she’s really fun and inspiring to sew for.

 

I just hope the new bodies won't have the extra wide shoulders all their bodies seem to have lately, but alas that's like asking for the moon from the sky I fear, it's just not going to happen, the broad shoulders seem to be popular for some reason. I personally just think they look silly with the cutesy Luts Kid Delf heads.

 

I just saw all the new KDF sculpts on Instagram... is my wallet safe? I don't know!!! I think Momo is so cute, but no one else really stands out to me as "have to have". What do y'all think?

 

I like the new bodies, not so much the heads. Mela is cute, though... But I'm not sure. I think I'm safe for now. But if Luts release a 48/7 cm Bory, I'm so done for

 

I love yangpa, mela, momo and hami. but probably wont get any. im kinda more interested in 1/6 fashion dolls right now

 

Not a fan of any of the new ones. They all have that weird puffy undereye bag that's really popular right now and I dislike the faceups having red noses. Not for me but I have 40 resin bjds alone, I can stand to not buy for a few years until these trends die haha

 

I take it back, I think Zea is super cute, almost like a Kid Delf version of SD Ulla. Might have to spring for a tall boi Zea...my KDF collection has overtaken all my other dolls!

 

My concern is, do the new bodies fit standard MSD clothing? I have so many hard to fit dolls and it's a struggle.

 

I think Zea is cute but overall none of the new heads are really speaking to me. In general I don't particularly enjoy the direction Luts is taking their kid delfs. They're all beautiful, don't get me wrong, but I don't really vibe with the current aesthetic, which I guess is a good thing for my wallet, and alternatively will allow me to look at buying from other companies for a change

 

The new KDFs are cute, but none of them really speak to me either. The first thing that stood out to me was how Mela looks so much like Cherry and then I noticed how Hami looks rather similar to Lemon, and Yangpa to Hodoo. Some of the others are giving me the same sense of familiarity, but I can't pinpoint which sculpts (I can't recognize all the old ones out of my head). This new crew of dolls feel like "updated" versions of a bunch of the old ones they just discontinued.

I much prefer the older style that Luts had.

 

I like Leek but I'm sort of torn between "I actually like the sculpt" vs "I think I only like the styling of him and the sculpt is just whatever" and the more I look at the unpainted version the more in starting to lean towards the latter.

Edit: now that the nude images of the bodies are posted on the site: I can confidently say that if this is the direction Luts is going with their dolls then I don't think I'll be buying a full doll from them ever again. Especially the boy one looks just awful.

i actually really like the girl 47 one. it seems like the shoulders arent as wide as they have been for other bodies. im kinda tempted to get one!

Oh man I just went to take a look, and while I do actually kind of like the female body... What is luts' obsession with Dorito bodies. The shoulders in the male body are so insanely wide and look even weirder with how long and skinny the legs are. The images showing the torso without seeing the head don't look so bad but the full doll looks so disproportionate. ALSO regarding the forum rules does the lack of male genitalia end up make these new male bodies and muse bodies technically off topic?

 

Yeah, I really don't like the new bodies. They lack some human quality, remind me of robot androids or something. Aesthetic matters a lot when you're paying several hundred dollars for a doll. These bodies just do not look nice in my opinion and the sculpts are meh. I need to look at other companies...

 

Thoughts on the new bodies…

The girl body looks nice on its own, but I don’t really envision a lot of the KDF heads looking good on it because most of them look too young. What I liked about the KDF45 body was how it wasn’t a straight up child body, but also wasn’t too mature for KDF heads. I feel like that’s the problem with the KDF47, it looks too mature for most of the heads it’s meant to be paired with.

The boy body is straight up terrible. It’s as though Luts couldn’t decide if they wanted to make a boy or an adult body, so they spliced the two and the result doesn’t look natural at all. The shoulders are especially bad. Similar to my grievance with the girl body, the shoulder width does not look right with such young looking heads.

 

I wish they'd do a lineup of what all their KDF bodies look like next to each other, and maybe next to an SD-sized doll. Like, what does a KDF47 look next to a 50cm doll, or a 60cm doll? What does it look like next to a HoneyDelf/Yo-SD?

I'm in agreement with pretty much everyone here: the super-slim and tall bodies look bad. It's giving "Sailor Moon Crystal" :\

 

I was just talking to a friend about this during their discontinuation event. I really wish companies in general would do a lineup of all their dolls side by side. It would be so much easier to visualize the size of dolls when you have a baseline to compare it to. As someone with only msd size dolls it's hard for me to visualize what a yosd or an SD13 will look like next to them so having lineup image of all sizes would be so helpful.

I do know that Luts has an image on their website that shows a comparison between model delf, kdf45 and regular kid delf boy bodies, but I agree it would be nice to see an updated one with this new body added to the mix

 

Missed the vampire Bory preorder... Does anyone know if they do re-release of those limited heads often?

 

I see a Kai, I must buy I've got regular Kai, romance Kai, elf Kai, waiting on vampire Kai, and now this sweety Kai is coming soon. The question is, what size body? 47 KDF seems so leggy, but I love how they styled that size in the photoshoot. Just worry that other dresses or outfits will come up short.

 

I feel conflicted about the new bodies because 50cm is one of my favorite doll sizes and I've wanted it ever since i started this hobby (I know, I'm weird). I'm glad a big, accessible bjd company has released a 50cm class body that can be ordered in a huge variety of resin tones. On the other hand, I don't like 47cm girl's angular shoulders/hips, teeny waist, or how KDF heads look on the body in promo pics. I prefer the rounder, slightly more natural shapes of MDF girl. (Also, I don't collect boys, but the new boy heads shown on the 48cm body look WAY too young for their wide shoulders).

@shinka_cat Look for clothing made for Obitsu 50 or Azone AZO2 vinyl dolls. It will have the right sleeve & leg length for KDF47.
