Uff, yes. I got a tinydelf when they first did the lavender skin (2021). The color itself looks gorgeous brand new - its a soft, pastel purple color. But... It yellows extremely fast. That was 2 months after I got her - I had her on a shelf that's 2 meters from a window, only indirect light all the time. She was wearing a dress and shoes :,) And no bodyblushing, all the darker parts are the original color. Spoiler: close up on the legs I don't really know if it was just the batch that was bad, but I haven't seen Luts say anything about doing anything to the resin to stop this from happening either. While I know that resin does mellow/oxidize over time (and I honestly don't mind), THIS amount in a few months, while not put in direct sunlight? Its just bad :/
Oh man, that's definitely good to know. But such a shame and so sad For what it's worth I still think she's quite cute regardless, but definitely when you pay extra for a specific color you hope it holds for a good amount of time...
Unfortunately no matter what company you order purple resin from, there is a 100% chance the vibrant color is going to fade as the red pigments will fade. This is probably not an issue of quality or bad resin mixing, it's just the nature of the beast unfortunately. Iplehouse actually uses this principal for their gray resin. I ordered a Creaa J doll in gray resin and was shocked when she arrived to me looking purple, that was definitely not the color I ordered. However, it very quickly faded(about 6 months if even) into an absolutely beautiful gray color and so the use of the purple toned resin is pretty genius. It mellows into a much nicer color than say Dollzone/Doll Chateau gray which tends to looking pretty yellow over time. They use the purple color to help fight the yellow mellowing, pretty cool.I wish I had taken before and after pictures but I had no idea it would happen so I didn't document the changes. TLDR: Be prepared for your purple resin, no matter where you order it from, to mellow into a nice shade of dusky violet gray. It's very pretty but if you wanted something vibrant that may be disappointing to you. @meanae This may sound weird, but that ombre effect on your doll is actually really pretty. I wonder if the resin change happened that way because you had her in a wig, shoes and dress? The patterns look like they would match with that. They probably did not get the same exposure to air and uv light as the uncovered portion. Although it's weird it looks like some of the color stayed on the fingertips.
@meanae I gotta say that while the color change is quite dramatic and definitely worth nothing, it looks pretty cute in your case, like it's an intended effect! Magenta/purple pigments are known for being very fugitive. Even despite technological advancements in the field I'm pretty sure they're the most fugitive pigments around. It doesn't look like the resin has yellowed as much as the pigment has faded from a grey-magenta mix.
@QuietYurei Yeah the wig, dress and shoes (and her hands were a bit hidden behind her dress) kept some parts from sunlight. By the way, I didn't know that about Iplehouse' Gray! Super interesting. @lutke I would be more happy if it was even discoloration Then I could at least dye her to get her darker purple again...
NGL - I thought she was body blushes. :O TYSM for sharing. I've had some darker tan dolls from SOOM that REALLY yellowed super quickly because of the red in the tan. I had to send my doll back to SOOM to verify the yellowing (they didn't believe me) and they replaced like half of his body. I was bummed about it and put him in his box, never to be seen again. I thought French resin was bad (and, imo, it is) but man, very red/red tinted dolls are just as bad, if not worse. =/
Thank you for sharing. I've always wondered about Luts lavender too, as I want to add one lavender to my collection... it's a pity it doesn't held up long.
Yeah I may have to look and see what other companies offer the lavender skin. I wonder if some would last longer than others
I have a little dragon from Cloverdoll thats older than the Tinydelf in nearly the exact shade which has mellowed a bit but its very even, that was sitting on the same shelve - and still a purple shade. I really think its a luts problem :/ Maybe its a problem with the batch, I really don't know if they did anything after that first release...
