As far as I know, Doll Love is a sister company of Angel of Dream. These dolls are produced in China and sold at a very affordable price.
I read a discussion months ago about this company, people are still wondering about the resemblances of these molds with others made by other companies (maybe Luts).

 

I am sure Doll Love is legit.
I've heard that the sculptor from Doll Love is the same for Angel of Dream. Doll Love is his own brand.

I remember seing these dolls at Yahoo!J and I thought exactly the same. I'm sorry, but no one can deny it, it's not just a resemblance or a little similarity and you can't say it's just the make up, cause it can be seen clearly in the unpainted heads.

 

LOL, I was about to say.. A LOVEDOLL is a whole other hobby indeed!

 

Um...sorry, but I don't think you can claim that 'nobody can deny it', because I don't personally think that they look that much alike. I would go with just a resemblance. Looking at all their sculpts, the strongest likeness that I see to another company is AoD which makes sense since it's the same sculptor.

I am curious, however, to know if anyone bought one and what they're like. I remember the initial thread that popped up, but after that I never did hear anymore about them.

 

I can see what you are saying about Alice looking a bit like Lishe but I don't think they look that similar. And I REALLY dont think Leon looks like El. At all.

I'd actually like to know this too, because one of them has caught my eye and I'd like to know if this company is worth purchasing from... I'm half planning on her, but half anticipating to change the plans, as I really don't want to buy anything dicey.

On the other hand... no, I don't see the heads as being the same. Maybe with an overlay or something, but I'm just not seeing it from looking at the heads. And with the number of companies and sculpts out there, you're bound to see similarities in them. Especially when you're actively looking for them. (I'm not defending them, I don't know enough about them, I'm just saying what's true--if you look for controversy, you find it.)

 

while it is very funny that the one that supposedly looks like Lishe is named Alice (like my Lishe xD), I don't think she looks much like one. really, the only resemblance I see is the mouth... and only a little. Lishe's mouth is open. the eyes look a tiny bit similar but really, I think this is just us being paranoid xD
as for the other one looking like El, I again only kind of see that. but not really.
these are human dolls and there's only but so much that you can do to make human faces 100% unique, without making them ugly. we're bound to see similarities in this hobby.

the ebay seller id is japonista-lifestyle-and-fashion. I've had no luck searching DoA for this seller.

 

Unless I'm missing something, I think that seller just sells various Asian dolls and happens to have a Volks for sale--that's what it looks like to me. I don't know that there is any actual link to the abjd manufacturer Love Doll unless they are a dealer. That said, I have no idea if that seller is trustworthy or not. I don't buy much on ebay, and don't keep track of the sellers on there.

Edit: Actually, from their descriptions, they seem to specifically sell Japanese dolls. I don't think this has anything to do with the company this thread is about.

 

japonista-lifestyle-and-fashion is unrelated with the Doll-Love brand.
And the last time I checked they do not sell Doll-love bjds.

I was very confused with this thread - sorry to post off topic stuff. Some of the stuff on ebay is scarey, and it can be hard sometimes to find the information you need. I will likely never buy from ebay again unless I know the buyer. Good luck to you.

 

If it helps, I have successfully ordered and received a Tony Head from Doll Love. I think the sculpt is rather unique.

I really don't see much similarity to any company other than AoD in these dolls, myself, but since it's the same sculptor, that's quite expected - I was close to getting an AoD before I saw this one anyways. I don't have any other SD size dolls to compare poseability with, and my ResinSoul Mei hasn't been restrung yet and can't even stand, so all I can say is how it *looks*, not how it poses relative to anyone else, but I love her to pieces!
