It's been almost a decade since I've finished anything for Leviathan, but I've been hit with sudden inspiration and motivation. So here I am with another project thread for another doll. First order of business, replacing his 15 year old stockings with 13 new pairs. Next up I cut and decorated 4 cthulhu sweaters. Today I completed the green colourway. Complete with mini skull backpack. I have started on the other 3 colourways.
A new design done. A bodysuit attachment for his sweater. He has a lot of skirts with open sides/ fronts so this can be worn with them. It has a cut out to show off a planned lovecraftian tattoo when I get around to it. As you can see I'm making my own cotton backed vinyl since it's so hard to find in the fabric stores and even online. All done in green.
Now that I've got most of the sets close to completion it's time for matching boots. Since goth platforms are a little harder to come by than back in 2009, I'm making them myself. I've 3D modelled the soles and they are now doing their first printing.
Oooh! Wild! I had wondered how people do complex soles for custom footwear... Of course they're 3d printed! I'd LOVE to see a tutorial for your process if you ever had the time. I've been daydreaming about Adirondack boots for my girls, but I've never seen them at dolly scale and custom footwear has felt pretty out of reach in terms of what I know how to do.
Well the soles are all printed up! The interior toe caps have 45 minutes to go, then I can start patterning the actual boot portion. Ignore the dust from sanding haha. I can't take full credit for the modelling. I had help. My local libraries and the downtown museum have 3D modelling classes on weekend mornings. I can do most things on tinker cad but sometimes I need a little help smoothing curves. When things are really complex and out of my wheelhouse, I turn to Fiverr. I will definitely try to document my processes as best I can though. I have LOTS of upcoming footwear. Every single one of my dolls wears a different substyle of goth or punk. So I have to get real crafty with the shoes and boots.
Loving your vision and skills! And these boots remind me some Destroy boots platforms I used to have (they disintegrated in the end )
Wow, that outfit is amazing, and I love the color variations. Sadly the boot picture isn't showing up for me. I might need to talk to my offspring about maybe making some shoe parts for me.....
