Loongsoul Doll 1/4 doll discussion

There is someone in the BJD Discord server who has a tan Fairyland and Loongsoul hybrid (Mirka head on a ls girl body). They said the match is perfect and it indeed looks like a crazy perfect match from the photos they've posted in Discord. They are sleepystardustbun on Instagram, but they haven't posted any pictures of the hybrid on their instagram yet. I don't know if they'd want me to repost their pictures from Discord or not, but I recommend asking them for pictures if you're not in the Discord server!

Where do you guys get clothes?!

I was finally able to get my girl some clothes made.... And the bottoms fit for the most part... But tops completely not in the slightest. She has the medium chest (dem boobs....) Im so sad the dress and the top both don't fit over her huge chest... i just wanna cry a lil.... I waited months for these outfits...

So now she's still gonna be sitting in my closet forever... ;-; like i don't even... I can't bond with her at all if i never get to play with her... She's blank/headless again cuz i hated the rushed faceup i had to give her last time because thr weather wasn't good enough. So i was redoing it hoping with the new clothes she would finally be complete.

Just feeling a bit down and annoyed... I can't figure out what to get her for clothes... That don't cost too much...

 

@munakchild well, if your heart is set on those dress, one option would be to sand the bobbies down in size.

Other than that I can only recommend to get close that have lacing in the front or back.

I make most of my doll clothes myself, so I can't really give buying recommendations - except one: Alice Collection.
You'd need to check or ask, but quite a few of their outfits could be made in custom size, so you could have stuff made for your girl that fits

Def not modding her for the dress. I like her bust i just am annoyed it's so hard to find anything to fit on it.
I will possibly sell the outfits or keep them for a future girl. But i just wanted to know where everyone else finds their stuff so i can find something for her now.

I haven't seen any outfits that had custom sizing on alice? (Or any that i have looked at cuz i avoid the pricey peices lol)

 

@munakchild Some outfits on LegendDoll have custom sizing options! If not it doesn't hurt to ask them if they think the outfit will fit your girl. If you ask a question on the product page with her measurements they might be able to tell you, I've seen people do the same thing and they seem very helpful.

 

@munakchild I don't know if they tag them as custom size possitble anymore. I only remember that I ordered a few MSD sized outfits a while ago and they asked me for the dolls meassurements on two of them and I told them I couldn't tell them, cause I didn't have the doll yet (they asked more meassurements than the company provided).

Maybe they no longer offer it, but I know they used to for some (not all).

I didn't bring home Shao Ling for similar reasons and I'm REALLY tempted by her.

 

This thread has been quiet for a while! Well, I unexpectedly got my hands on an in-stock Wanwan in august and I couldn't possibly be more in love... I'm working on her face up right now before it gets too cold.

@Chelokotik - Could you tell me what wig size you went with for Nani, 6-7 or 7-8? Wanwan's head is exactly 18 cm/7 inches, and I can't decide.. Sorry to bother you!! (Or if anyone else's LS dolls have a 18cm head, but it seems to vary greatly from sculpt to sculpt)

I have stretchy 6-7 for all of my Loongsoul MSDs.
I prefer them that way, opposed to 7-8 who tend to be rather loose on the heads in my oppinion.

 

Guys, did you see this? Loongsoul discontinued a bunch of dolls and bodies. I'm surprised because some of these sculpts are fairly recent. Fortunately for me, the ones on my wish list are safe, but these are a lot of dolls!

I really like the way their aesthetic is going, so I'll look forward to seeing what they come up with next.

 

T^T Most of my favourites yes. I got some of them already, but hope LS will let me snatch one or three heads at least. We'll see.

Personally the aestehtic is exactly what I don't want with my MSD as I'm heading for a teen to adult direction, so with their cuties they are definitly cute, but not for my collection. Which I guess is good for my budget ;P

 

Unfortunately yes, I have yet to got any bjd and in this list were probably my most favorite and the fact they just discontinued them without any warning is beyond depressing for me

I prefer their old aesthetic, what a shame.

 

@Snowy Late reply, but thank you for the input!!! I felt the same way, I think 7-8 would end up being too loose. I'm anxiously waiting for it to arrive now.... Also thank you!! I'm still dazzled over it, her faceup is almost done and I couldn't be more in love.

It was such a shock to see them mass discontinue so many sculpts. I thought Nuan Nuan and the body that came with it was super popular! I hope they revisit that body somehow- and I hope maybe they still do limited sculpt runs for those that missed out.

Oh yes. Same. I mean I got my two Nuans but I wouldn't have minded a third in e.g. tan ^^°

It's a shame. BJDiva had them convinced for a one-day-order thing, but since that is an US retailer that wouldn't have worked for me.
Pity, but I guess that teaches me not to wait too long (I was actually planning to get one during the next X-mas event), when I like a scuplt. Maybe they'll do scultps in that direction again too and a new body similar to the old one. If not, it's a pity, but can't be helped. Ironically I feel more pity for a friend who was eyeing two sculpty for a while and now can't get her hands onto them anymore ^^°

 

Wasn't NuanNuan on the version 3 body? That has not been discontinued. Qing uses it and she is still available.

 

@thessalyrose Not per default. You could order her on that body, but default she had the version 1 body (the three-part one with 3 avaible bust sizes - originally 4 or so I hear, but they removed the one that would have been 'average' sized and left the small one, big one and the huge ones).

You might confuse her with WanWan perhaps? She was the first one released on the Version 3 body, unless my memory is wrong.

 

@Snowy She arrived in august!! She was a totally unexpected purchase so I was unprepared for her arrival, but I managed to throw together some leggings and a t-shirt in time!

I have a wig in transit at the moment and some eyes in mind from soom's website.. but the 20 dollar s/h on an already 40$ pair of eyes is making me hold my horses and look around.

I took her head off for a face up already (which I should be done with soon) but I had to take a few pics of her amaaaazing sculpting on the newer body:


her hands are just... i randomly hold them when she sits on my desk.

 

@Snowy: No, I didn't confuse her with Wanwan, I just thought they were on the same body, for some reason. Thanks for clearing that up.

@Beedalee: I have that body too, though mine is a hybrid with a DIM head. I totally agree! She is gorgeous!

 

Hi everyone.

I recently bought a LS body 2nd hand for a hybrid and I'm lost as to what would fit the body. It's the thickest MSD body I've own thus far. Any recommendations for where to buy clothes and shoes would be appreciated. Thank you!

 

@lucidling Is the body the v1 or v2? i haven't bought anything pre-made yet, but my v2 body has been able to fit into sewn clothes I've sewn from slim msd patterns so far. When I get my hands on some clothes, I'll report how things fit.

 

Sorry for all the questions, I'm still on a learning curve with the hobby.

How do you guys keep the s hook on the hands from going into the body when changing clothes? The body is strung kind of tight and I'm afraid my go to paperclips may get bent/ineffective. I found a good size S hook to help with outfit changes.

Also, can anyone confirm if LS body can fit into nine9style clothes? I read that Volks MSD SDC SDM is also compatible. I found out the body fits Momoni pants perfectly!

@Beedalee Hi, thank you for replying! I'm pretty sure it's the v2 body. It's the one with the 5cm feet. Let me know your findings when you get the chance! I found out LS can fit into loose MNF clothes. I had some on hand and originally thought they'd be too small.

Anyone has photos for shao ling or autumn yue? I’m torn between these two sculpts! I don’t know what to choose!! Photos will help!! Immensely!!

 

@lucidling I'm so happy you found out something!! I had a FEELING loose/stretchy minifee clothes would fit but didn't have much to try out aside from sewing patterns- I realized I did buy a pair of leggings meant for minifee, and the etsy listing said they'd also fit up to DC Bella size hips too (which I also have, and LS falls just short of that size)

If I find out more though (I'd like to do a dolly clothes shopping spree sometime...) I will report back anyway!

 

@Beedalee Yes! I happened to have some MNF clothes from when I had some, but had kept them just in case. They're too cute to pass up. I'm glad I impulsively decided to put them on her to see the fit.

I decided to measure the LS body and found out the upper body is pretty much MNF size with a thicker waist. MNF clothes are everywhere I know where to start looking to expand her wardrobe ☺️

@cyrillezhane I found that the LS MSD body fits into MNF clothes fairly well. Loose/stretchy fitted MNF clothes fits good. MNF tops are fine if the model is the biggest bust. The bottom needs to be a little loose to accommodate for LS' bigger bum though hah. AtelierMomoni's pants are a perfect fit. I tend to browse through IG FB for 2ndhand finds. Etsy have a good amount of options as well.

I have a Loongsoul Autumn Yue, and I wouldn't call her slim. She has a little bit more "meat" on her than the slim MSDs I've handled. I've had the most success clothing her with outfits I've purchased on porcelain dolls with a mature body type and of a similar height from the thrift store.

I want to make my girl a little matured. I wish LS has an option for bigger breasts for their MSD bodies. I ordered the medium breast size too since it is the largest that they can offer for this body... is it big enough? I plan to have her wear a more sexy clothing. Like a spagetti top. Was also wondering if her breasts will look big enough if I have her wear a bra. What are your thoughts?

I'm pretty sure her boobages filled the bra cups, but as I took the photo about a year ago I can't remember for sure. I think she can look quite sexy, given the pose and outfit, but I prefer smaller breasts on dolls anyway.

It's a vintage My Friend Mandy tutu, by Fisher Price. (I have a My Friend Mandy doll from my childhood, and many of the clothes fit MSDs loosely or if you add a belt.)

I ordered a Loongsoul body back in December and it arrived spontaneously today! This is Rem, my Doll in Mind Larina/Loongsoul 42.5cm girl body hybrid! I'm extremely impressed with the quality of the body. It poses really well and it's so sturdy. The body is in normal pink and the DIM head is a really pale NS, so it isn't as great of a match as I'd hoped, but I'm not too worried— in a few months or so when I'm settled in my new apartment, she'll be in the dye bath

 

So I'm newer to the bjd hobby so I have very little knowledge on many things. I've become very fond of the female msd body but I can't really connect with the face sculpts. I'd love some recommendations of heads that play well, and if this isn't the place to ask then please point me in the correct direction

 

Mystic Kids heads fit very well on the female body and some of their male sculpts work equally well as a female.

 

I have an Asleep Eidolon Blueberry on one of the older bodies, the ns-y resin doesn't exactly match though, but a light dusting of yellow on the face was enough to do the trick.

Oh! I actually was interested in getting Illy on a female body so I'll definitely look into that as an option!

Doll in Mind heads work well, but they are only available sporadically unless you get one used. Larina and Leia seem to be available most of the time on the secondhand market.

This thread is very quiet... but it is a thread in which I think I can ask for help... so here goes!

I posted a thread in marketplace looking to exchange (or just buy) the new medium bust piece from Loongsoul for my old medium bust piece (which is vastly different, being an 01 where the new is an 03 and looks a lot smaller off the bat!)

But then I suddenly panicked as I realised that the bodies are, of course, different sizes. The new body has a bigger waist and arms, but smaller shoulders. I was wondering if this would affect the way an 03 bust would interact with an 01 body - it's no good looking for an 03 bust if it's going to be useless on an 01 body after all.

Perhaps someone out there owns both bodies and can compare the two? Also, is the normal yellow resin any different with the new bodies?

I took a hiatus from the hobby for some time, I come back and everything is wildly different, I'm sorry for the bombardment of questions!

 

Do I understand correctly, that you have the old, original body and would like the bust from the new body?
You can order just the bust-piece from various retailers, but I'm afraid it's not going to be a well fit if at all. The shape is clearly different and far as I remember the meassurements are off too.

Don't have the new one myself, so can't provide any pictures myself.

As for resin colors: it would depend on when your body has been made. I have an older LS SD boy body in nsy who I used as reference when purchasing one of their mermaids years ago. The color was not the same, as the ns-y was way lighter than that of the SD body. Actually the pics on the listing are a good reference of what to expect, I think.

If you like the bust of the current body, you might want to try and find a small bust of the old body. It's smaller than the current one, but closest in aesthetics.

I can't do resin comparisons for you, but I do have a Loong Soul 1:4 body in white. However, I did want to mention that their resins now are all environmental (French) resins. I believe back in the past, they offered regular options, but now, they're all translucent. Just wanted to mention this in case you weren't aware!

Also... The translucent resins yellow rather rapidly. I have had my new body for about 4 months, and in indirect light, there is a yellow hue to it. (I compared it with the option parts I have stored away.) The head I bought this doll for is a yellow white, so it's okay, but I admit that I am a bit annoyed at how quickly this has yellowed. I don't leave them in direct sun, but I'm someone who plays with my dolls -- and I don't want to put my dolls away. I'll accept the yellowing, but I know for some other people, this would be a huge dealbreaker.

 

I saw a thread back from 2014 comparing 1/4 doll bodies, among which was a loong soul body. I found i really like that body
I also really like the BuZhi face sculpt
I went to look on their site about buying her, but it seems they only offer their most recent body, which i don't like the appearance of the hips of.
So a couple questions:
Is there anywhere i can find the older bodies for purchase? Or buy her head separately?
Does anyone have photos comparing their 1/4 female bodies?
Are their bodies popular? If i just buy the doll whole, is it likely I'll be able to find someone interested in the body to split with?

I would contact Jeeryama on eBay or Denver Doll and ask them; they're very friendly, and if they don't know the answer, they can contact Loongsoul directly and find out.

I have the new mini body as a hybrid with my DIM head. I love her curves, but she doesn't share clothes with my other minis because of all that junk in her trunk, so I guess I understand. The body seems pretty popular to me, but of course it's always risky to buy something with the intent to sell.

The body is largely really nice, i personally just don't love the kinda gap between the hips and thighs if that makes sense?
That said, any suggestions for what body her head might fit on and colour match?

 

I heard Charmdoll is connected to Loongsoul somehow, like the same sculptors or something, and that usually means the resin will match. I don't have any Loongsoul heads to compare but the body is very delicate and narrow-shouldered, so you probably don't want something too large. The two bodies I have are kind of mellowed, so I can't tell you what they match, other than Luts and Elfdoll normal are too yellow.

 

Following up on this, yes the companies are sister companies and allegedly use the same resin. Both companies now only do french resin, but Loongsoul at least used to also offer solid resin; so if you're looking for bodies secondhand or relying on a resin match, keep that in mind, because the solid resins and french resins were different colours.

 

They do use the same resin, I have normal yellow and tan resin from both companies and the are exactly the same.

 

Also Loongsoul no longer produces the old bodies and supposedly also don't have any leftover stock or display models. I asked when the discontinued the old heads and bodies from one day to the next, because I also prefer the old body type and face style.
You need to be constantly on the prowl if you want to get the old model, because they rarely pop up on the MP.
I had luck a while ago and finally managed to get myself a ChuChu, the one model of the old line I had been missing out from those I wanted.

Does anyone know if loongsouls white is more like a paper white or is it tinted pink or yellow? Thanks!
