(Apologies if this is the wrong place to start a thread, I've looked at them all and this seems to be the best fit?) My tiniest doll (pictured) is from MissNekotaku on Etsy. I believe the sculpt is Chibihana? She is absolutely itty bitty. I won't be working on her any time soon, I want to practice more on regular sized dolls before I try. I've been trying to think of what to do with her, though, and I'm stumped. I doubt I'll be able to buy clothes that fit her, or a wig. And it's a shame that the colors aren't completely symmetrical. I already have a fairy planned (DC Bedrice), so maybe something goblin adjacent? What would you do?
Omg wow, she is teensy! Honestly I would just paint the whole doll, including hair and paint a cool design on the body. I don’t know if it would be worth it to make a wig that small unless you really wanted long hair. You can do some pretty cool things on such a small canvas!
I hadn't considered painting the hair on!! That could be so cute!!! I thought about painting the body but I'm so concious about how SMALL she is. I don't know if I have any paint that would be able to cover the base colors in thin enough coats
Fluid acrylics would probably be good for working this small, I use golden fluid acrylics and they are great. You’d probably need to use nail art brushes as well, and very finely sharpened watercolor pencils could help with that detail! I think you should definitely give it a go if you’re unsure of finding clothes to fit her’
You might want to look at some painting techniques/paints from the mini world (something like warhammer 40k) - your doll doesn't have the same level of texture as some miniatures so I don't know if the skills would be totally translatable, but there is a TON of info on painting really tiny things and the right ways to go about it from that community. Local hobby shops often carry the paints too - I believe citadel is a popular brand that carries fluid acrylics and glazes, airbrush paints, etc and has some good information on how to use the different kinds of paints.
I wonder if you could use nail art stickers/gems to create a face. I know that for some small garage kit figures, they give you stickers for eyes/mouths. So I wonder if you could use decals in regards to the face.
For clothes if you're not comfortable sewing that small, maybe taking apart some fake flowers to make fairy clothes with glue?
