London Doll and Teddy Bear Show (Ontario, Canada)

Mar 20, 2019

    1. This doll convention happens twice a year; once in Spring and once in the Fall.

The 2019 Spring Event is on Sunday, April 14 from 10:00AM to 3:00PM. There are door prizes and free parking! Admission is $6 for Adults and $2 for kids under 12.

This year they changed location to the Hellenic Community Centre, and they have a map on their website.

As far as i know, they are also still accepting vendor applications.

You can read more about the show here or on their facebook page!

I will try to post updates when I can! Note I am not affiliated with the London Doll Show, just someone who wanted to spread the word to my fellow collectors in Southern Ontario!

    2. How much BJD stuff would they have?

    3. When I went to the Fall show last year, there weren't a lot, about 3 or 4 vendors. There is a list of the currently signed up vendors on their website. It is a really good place for props, wig fibres, eyes, and other accessories though.

    4. Ah...., I was looking into this. I have vintage hard plastic dolls (early 60s) I used to bring them to such doll events when I lived in Saskatoon. I was never there for BJDs. I thought of attending this one in London Ontario last year but had no time. I was wondering who on DOA is the vendor selling BJD stuff. There was no thread last year for this event. I’m pleasantly surprised there’s a thread this year. I plan to visit with my vintage dolls.

    5. Yeah, i figured i would post a thread about it to get more BJD people attending, as that might influence future shows! As far as I know there are 2 confirmed bjd vendors: The Doll Doctor and Toyz in the Attic. A lot of vendors sell bjd sized items and such though!!! And so many props!!

    6. If I attend this event, I would rent a car and drive there from Toronto, I don't want to use my own vehicle. I normally don't buy stuff at these events but I spend time meeting and chatting with people who have 1960s plastic dolls because maintenance is a huge challenge and these dolls have a long history, so there's lots to chat. I might also consider bringing my oldest BJD Volks Isao Ver 1 2004. I want to introduce him to conservative antique and vintage doll collectors, I am carefully prepping him to take his place as a vintage doll one day in the distant future.

My work schedule is tricky. The event is 2 weeks away. It's nice to take a road trip somewhere with family now that it's spring. I hope I make it. My schedule is still a big question mark.
