Yay! My wait for Sarubia officially begins today!

 

Hurray! Congrats! I think I've got like 2 more weeks to wait before Phineas is shipped if looking at the other wait times is any indication.

 

Thanks! Two weeks isn't so bad, but then again it can feel like forever when you've already waited a month. Hope you get your boy soon! For me, I'm kind of counting on her to take 5-6 weeks because I want her clothes/wigs to come in first. I'd feel sad if she got here and had to sit around naked for a while.

 

From looking at the list it looks like dolls are taking about a month and two weeks to ship so I'm hoping that trend continues. I've got some clothes coming from Alice's Collection but I have a feeling they aren't actually going to arrive until the end of May since they haven't moved yet and air mail takes like a month from China, so he's going to be stealing the onlly good clothes my Lishe has as well as her wig until I can get him one XD. Do you have a name/character/anything else for your doll ready for when she does get home?

 

Same for me with the Alice's Collection stuff. I ordered from them about a week ago but was able to get the free ems, so I've got my fingers crossed it'll come faster that way. I didn't realize that they make a lot of their clothes and things after you place an order.
I have a very vague idea for a character for Sarubia, but nothing solid yet, and I keep changing my mind on a name. I keep flipflopping between something old fashioned and southern sounding (Clementine, Georgia, etc.) or really whimsical/wispy (Thistle or Plume). So I'm going to let the doll help me decide rather than settling on an idea that doesn't quite fit ahead of time. I've learned that works best for me.
I see you're planning to name your Enrill Phineas--I love that name! Is that a character you already had?

 

I really like the name Thistle! Though old fashioned names are really cool too. Yeah, I found out about AC making clothes/stuff after you order when I bought eyes from them and they took like 2 months to get to me XD It wasn't that big of a deal since I didn't need the eyes I ordered for anything and I'd just done it for fun, so this time I knew more or less how long I was gonna be waiting. I've never bought clothes before (this'll be the first time) but their glass eyes are actually really nice.

You're actually one of the very few people like like his name! I've met so many people who don't care for the name Phineas. XD He's a character I've had for a while after reading a book with a character of that name way back in middle school. :P I thought the name was so cool so I built a character around it.

What kind of clothes did you order for her?

 

I only ordered her one dress and some shoes--and then I felt bad I wasn't getting anything for my boy and got him a pair of overalls. I'm still conflicted onn which direction her character is going in , but I know either way she'll be a girly girl. I like vintage and old-fashioned looking clothes for my dolls, but she may end up in something really fantastical. I sew most of my doll clothes but wanted something ready made to put her in when she gets here, and also to compare quality of work with my own. That's why I got her with a face-up too. I love the company faceup and sprung for it even though I've done my boy's face. I haven't had any real life professional examples to compare my progress to, so it's hard to tell where I need to improve.
I think I'm more interested in the physical customizations than building backstories at this point, though I really expected to have really well-developed characters by now. (Makes me a little sad that I don't.) I'm always so interested to hear about other dolls' characters. It sounds like Phineas is really dear to you! People who don't like his name are sorely misguided, haha, especially if you decide to call him Finn for short--so cute! I think dolls pull off unusual names really well. What sort of character is Phineas going to be?

 

Ah cool! I bought Phineas an outfit and some shoes since I can't sew pants. I'm pretty good and shirts and dresses but I really suck with pants and shorts. I'm kind of the same way with other people's characters, I love hearing about them and back stories so I'm always surprised when people want to know about mine. XD His nickname is Finny actually, so you're really close!

I am kind of attatched lol He kind of started out as a HP fan character cause a friend of mine wanted to join an rp forum back in '04 (I'd had the character before then, but hadn't really fleshed him out) and be took on a life of his own after we left the forum.

He's mostly a jerk, but it's because he's got some abandonment issues and he's scared of getting too close to people. The only one to really stick with him is his boyfriend, Devlyn, who I'm going to shell in a Rennone when I get the funds.

Edit: His clothes have been shipped! It's getting down to the wire to when he should be technically shipped!

 

Oh, that's good news about his clothes! At least you know you won't have to wait forever even if he gets there first.

Jerky characters are always so fun to write because they can usually manage to get away with a lot more than everyone else, haha. I hope you get to save up for your Renonne soon---they would make a great pair!

I'm starting to get impatient, not just waiting for my girl but also because I have a bunch of other orders for stuff and none of them have moved. I guess that's what happens when you order everything from overseas. I have a feeling I'll end up getting everything at the same time, and probably not until late May. Yesterday I splurged and bought those Peapod ballet feet/ballet shoes--I used to do ballet pretty seriously and couldn't resist XD. I really need to quit buying more stuff! My girl is already way more spoiled than my boy, and I've had him a year, poor thing.

 

Hahahaha. I know how that is! The only think keeping me from buying anymore is the fact that I've gotta bring my cat the the vet at the beginning of May XD I've still gotta buy Finny's wig too. I LOVE peapod's stuff! They're always so cool! I had thought Finny wouldn't ship until May but I'm really hoping I get the shipping notice next week. Your Sarubia'll be shipping before you know it! and its probably better everything comes at the same time anyway so you don't have to wait for it while she's sitting waiting for clothes.

 

Ah, sorry I haven't been on DoA for a few days. Any updates yet? I haven't gotten any shipping notices myself, so no changes here. :]

Yay, I got an update from Alice's collections that my clothes order shipped. Any news for you yet? I would have expected you to get a shipping notice by now...I hope you get one soon!

 

My AC stuff shipped like the 15th or something but the one tracking says its in NY and another just says it left china so I dunno what's up with it. I'm hoping Finny gets shipped this Thursday or Friday since they said it takes a week more for a faceup.

 

Oh, I forgot about the additional wait times for face-ups--I guess I might have longer than I thought. My first doll was shipped out after a week(!) so all this waiting is new torture for me. I need to find something else to distract me for the next month or so (besides more shopping :P). Well, sounds like your AC order is close (if it really is in NY) so that's good news!

 

Oh man that's lucky! My second doll was like that since I got her second hand. I haven't had to wait all that long for my pipos or doll leaves cause they were in stock with DDE and Junkyspot so this wait has been hard. XD I did find out today that his clothes are in Flushing NY so they're only a few hours away. I'm hoping they ship him this coming Friday since that would be the 7 week mark and his clothes arrive at the same time.

 

PHINEAS HAS SHIPPED! I just checked my emails and I've got a shipping notice! If other EMS times are accurate, I should be getting him Monday!

 

Hurray, that's awesome! And Monday is so soon--fingers-crossed EMS pulls through! Are you planning to do a box opening? Either way you'll have to spam some pictures of him!

 

I was thinking about it but I'm not sure. If he comes on Monday I can but if he comes on Tuesday I won't be able to since I work all day. I get out way past sundown. I WILL post pictures up though! His clothes came in yesterday and Riley (my Lishe) is wearing them until he comes in.

I ordered a Giselle head for a body i got from my sister, it had been laying headless so long. I am really looking forward to get a little monica mold in my home again

 

Huzzaaah, I just made the final payment for my Giselle~! Now the real waiting game begins... LM said that my Giselle will be shipped around the end of February / early March, ooh so excited

It feels surreal for me, finally waiting for a real doll to come... And so glad to join you guys in the waiting room together

Hmmm I originally plan her to be my medieval princess-knight character, but it's so hard to find medieval clothes, let alone medieval clothes for girls that look boyish

I'm also considering that her look may be too modern for a medieval character, in that case I'll make her my modern-day magician with a cold psyche

 

I think there's just fewer because she is newer! If you look under her previous sculpt name from Ndoll there are more pictures. I think its yuko? Cant remember.

A medieval princess-knight sounds like an epic doll idea I hope that works out just because I want to see it, lol.

Yeah, Giselle used to be nDoll Luna nDoll Yuko is now Little Monica Eden ^^
Even as nDoll Luna, there are not many pictures of her. There's only 1 member here in DoA that I know owns nDoll Luna (or the only one that posts photos of her, at least) Back in nDoll days, Luna was always overshadowed by Aiko (now LM Sophia, which seems to be quite popular as well haha)

But that's fine, it's kind of a habit of mine to love things that not many other people love xD I feel kinda proud of it, actually! Haha~

My Elena has a ton of clothes waiting for her too. She is going to be based off Anne of green Gables. It was my favorite book growing up and Ive always wanted to have a doll of her.

Are you guys going to do the postcard event? I was thinking of entering but I cant draw very well.

About the postcard event, you don't have to draw a picture on the postcard. It can be a message, greetings, anything. I'm sure you can write something wonderful and decorate the card creatively

Yeah somehow LM never got really popular, dunno why... But there are a lot more LM owners these days compared to 2-3 years ago I just ordered my first LM doll (and my first ever doll too!) so yeah I'm really looking forward becoming an LM owner xD

Yep, all nDoll sculpts (Luna, Louis, Aiko, Aki, Yuko) were sculpted by Little Monica's sculptor. So when nDoll went out of business, LM took over their sculpts and rereleased them under different names (Luna = Giselle, Louis = Ginger, Aiko = Sophia, Yuko = Eden with boy mod) Aki is the only one left who hasn't been rereleased, and I'm really curious how he will turn out x)

 

@lileychristie: Yes I did!! Wow you remembered~ Yes she's been sitting on my shelf for months! I was going to order her a body during the Christmas event, but the discount was only for full basic dolls, so I ordered during Luts' event instead. ^^; So now she's finally getting her body!

Congrats on such a beautiful first doll! I'm sure you're so excited~ You've paid off layaway so I hope they ship her soon. I'm looking forward to seeing more Giselle too~ ^^ She's got such a cool and dangerous look! The LM face-up is wonderful too... such masterful work. I was really glad when LM posted that they will rerelease nDoll sculpts. At first I was so upset when I read that LM had ended their contract with nDoll and those sculpts won't be sold in nDoll anymore, but then right below it I read that LM will rerelease them! OMG I felt like I was lifted back to heaven ^^;;;

Thanks Liley! I am seriously so excited about getting him. I've wanted him since about 2004 and never found the right sculpt. Even though he's not limited I'm stoked to be getting a doll that, as far as I can tell, is super rare.

Maybe you'll get lucky and they'll have made her with the rest of them and she will ship soon.

LM posted a notice on their website stating that basic line dolls with faceup ordered during the winter event will be shipped starting the 4th week of February. Dolls without faceup should be shipped sooner, I guess... Do you order your doll with faceup, renme? ^^
