They do look like sisters! I think most of the Limhwa sculpts do since they tend to share many features. I hope you can afford your girl soon!
haha yah, beautiful sisters xD! and im pulling together funds now! i could even get her within a week!!! so lets cross our fingers. i acctaully already decided a name for my Sujan, to me, she looks almost half asian , in some pictures, just her features. so i wanted to make her half korean girl! so i decided on a Korean name. so ill be naming her Seyeon !!! i thought it was cute
This thread is so quiet! I ordered my limhwa sujan from junky spot! There was only one Normal Skin Blank left in stock!!!! So I snagged the last one ^^, she shipped out quickly and will be here Tuesday or Wednesday
That's where I got my girl as well. I was kind of surprised I got this DollHeart outfit to fit her - I thought the corset would be too small, but the jacket helped keep it in place.
Omg that outfit is super cute ^^ from what I can see from the corset it looks awesome. also I recived my sujan!!! I did a box opening of her ^^. To find it go to YouTube and type Captainchaseee. And then go to my profile and its there ! She's more than I ever thought. She's beautiful. I sent her off for a faceup so she will be back in about a week
I am trying to resist, as I am waiting on another doll. But I love my mono boy ... I'm just a teeny bit afraid she'll look too much like his sister. I love her smile and expression.
Lily is super pretty. this whole big event started a week after i got my Sujan. im like, is this a joke... xDDDDDDDDDD. but i looked over the pics and im still 100% happy with my Sujan, i just love her features more, expesially her dreamy/sultry eyes, those i cannot replace haha. plus Lilys features look so big 0-0. also did anyone notice that MSD Lily = SD Half elf and MSD Sujan = SD Iris xD...
Lily arrived this afternoon and she is really beautiful, although her default faceup is a bit too pale for my taste. The only things I'm not crazy about are the ends of her fingers and the way her torso is shaped where it meets the top of her legs, but I can improve these. Otherwise she is very beautiful and elegant. She was a total impulse buy so I am still deciding on eye and hair color, but I think she will be fun to play with. I often wish that all dolls' heads came in a standard size, so all my slim mini dolls would be in proportion with each other. *sigh* This one seems to be in a class of her own, but I'm burned out with trying to find my girls suitable male companions. It makes me crazy because the heads and features are always too small, too big, or too young-looking. I have yet another small man on order, but am reserving judgement until I see his head in person. I'll post photos after I get her put together.
Emory posted new photos and I succumbed! I ordered her in tan! She's my second Limhwa and first bjd in tan. Now I have TWO incoming dolls. What?
haha congratz Novemberkris !!!!!! the MSD limhwas are GORGEOUS>. i absolutely love mine. She is like a piece of art , her realistic, raw, and beautiful sculpting makes me feel closer to her than any other doll.
They really are lovely I really love my beige Mono a ton. At first, he was engineered so much more simply, than my first doll and of course, has trouble balancing to sit up, I was apprehensive. But I've invested so much time in costuming him (because that face!) I just adore him now. I suspect it will be much the same with his soon to arrive lady-friend! She'll be my first girl doll to arrive!! I'm excited--I've been waiting for the first round of Lilies to make it over!
well im super happy you were able to get her! my Sujan, Seyeon, wishes a safe coming home!!! i just adore my Seyeon, shes so beautiful! shes at the faceup artist now ^^. also they cant sit unless they slouch, so keep that in mind. these girls are MASTER sloucher and archers, they pose great to me!! my girls arms are strung alittle loose so i need to find a way to tighten them T.T
In my experience, tightening stringing is harder than just restringing. I would just unstring the arms, shorten the loop of elastic and restring them.
I agree. Unless you have those clamps (also called hemostats I think) to hold the elastic while you tie a new knot, it is almost impossible to do without restringing the doll. Even with two people to tug the body to and fro!
Captainchase, thanks! I think that is a habit of many dolls. And it seems to be one of those engineering vs aesthetics moves! I'm glad to hear the slouch balances the ladies. Mono has a slow creep backwards even with a slouch. But then again, that chest joint is a different position! (plus no extra bosom weight). I'm excited-looking for wigs. I want her to have this kind of mousy brown (like I had when I was tan as a kid - get some extensions for highlights, maybe), and it seems an unpopular color (warmer browns are the norm, of course!). I have to ask, do these girls come with both flat and heel feet? (I know, I'll find out tomorrow with my box opening, hahahaha). I'm the world's worst shoe shopper for myself, let alone my poor dolls. Though, I see they come with the resin heels, which is a bit of a lifesaver! Ee so excited. My boyfriend is home tomorrow for the delivery and a total doll enabler. He has a video game love, so he loves that I've rediscovered dolls in the past year. He didn't know I had collected so many different ones as a kid. He's excited to see her. He's not seen me open a doll before (LDR-for 10 years and we just were able to end it too... ugh job markets). Sorry, blubbering. I'm silly, excited, and love expecting these resinlings. Rory and James kind of became a fantasy replacement for our relationship in the past 3 years that I started my comic (based on OCs from my childhood, hahaha), so this will be a special new doll for deeply personal reasons. ^_^ Any recommendations for jeans, btw? I can make just about anything else, but Rory's a jean's character, so I'll be looking for something that fits. I don't want to do the detailing in those yet ... haha.
Hehe. Thanks! I've had all boys so far, so I felt the need to ask the derpy question since I didn't see it in the listing for sure.
I have some Volks MSD jeans that fit nicely. My girl came with both pairs of feet, I think that's standard.
Yah. im just very nervous to restring her... iv never done that before T.T . ill wait till i have some ribbon to use to be able to string her all the way. ya... xD and i think MSD/slimMSD clothes fit them fine. so dont worry to much. and still even with the slouch sitting, they still tend to lean backwards . but i just get over it. oh oh i had a question to you guys... I know that limhwa doesnt sand their seems. and my girl has a few seems that id like to get rid of. has anyone sanded their Limhwa girls???????? it says not to because of discoloration... but how is that so when its okay to sand other dolls from diffrent companies?... do Limhwa use poorer quality resin or what?... i feel if i sanded her nothing bad would happen
It's fine to sand them unless she's tan. If she's tan, there may be some discoloration where the seams are removed. All the companies I can think of advise not to sand their tan dolls.
I sanded my normal skin Leda. I removed her seams and her nipples (I thought they were too high up and looked silly). I am her second owner, and when I sanded her I could tell she had yellowed a little since there was just a bit of difference in the resin color. Even so it's hardly noticeable, a very minor difference. I'm sure if she had been new you would never notice. So don't be afraid to sand as long as you have the proper grits of sandpaper. Definitely do NOT sand a tan doll from Limhwa though. My partner tried sanding the seams and cheeks on her tan ToYou Sarah, and the difference was very noticeable even with very light sanding. It's a shame because she has pretty noticeable seams. The faceup artist we sent her to (Ravendolls) was able to cover up the color problems on her face so now you would never know, but there is nothing much to do about her seams.
I wanted to share with everyone the modification I did to the resin shoes, since I think they look very nice: Customized shoes by TinyJewelsShop, on Flickr I wanted them to have a strap because they kept falling off, so annoying! And I was afraid I would lose one. Now they stay on well. I added leather on the sole for some realism and to help my Ceridwen stand on slippery surfaces. ~A quick tutorial~ Materials: Volks Shimmer powder, water, sealant (I use ZM spray), thin ribbon, no-fray liquid for the ribbon (can also use superglue), little beads for the buttons (mine are 3mm swarovski pearls), hot glue, thin piece of suede, needle and thread 1. spray with sealant a few times (I use ZM spray) 2. use Volks shimmer powder mixed with water to make a translucent paint, cover all of the shoe 3. spray & do another coat of the Volks shimmer 4. spray again, a couple coats for durability 5. Get a tiny piece of ribbon and cut a hole just big enough for the bead to pass through 6. put the no-fray on the ends of the ribbon and around the button hole 7. sew the beads to the very end of the ribbon. try it on the doll's foot to make sure it is exactly the right length. this is important to make sure the shoe doesn't fall off. You will have to choose if you doll will wear socks/stockings or not and measure the ribbon length that way. 8. glue the ribbon in place inside the shoe (I used white craft glue, but it wasn't very secure. next time I will use hot glue) 9. trace the shape of the sole of the shoe and the heel bottom onto the leather 10. cut out the leather and hot glue it to the base of the shoes. having the suede side down helps the doll stand on slippery surfaces. Have fun and post your pictures if you try it or another shoe modification!
Ahhh thanks guys. And omg those shoes are pretty wicked!!!!! I love them. The little ribbon adds such a nice touch ^^. So she's brand new so no discoloration should occur. What grit of sand paper should I use?
She's here! (And I already had to fix an eyelash-my first time ever doing that, so I am patiently waiting to make sure it is 100% dry before replacing eyes). Here's a photo from my box opening. The rest is over on Tumblr for now. The rest of my crew got involved in the process. It was ridiculous!
Thank you! They are Safrindoll Purple Rainbows in 10mm! They were Gavin's but I could never give him a direct gaze in them given the narrowness of his eyes and he decided to he likes eyes that are slightly the wrong color (Purple Nebula Naturals, also Safrindoll, but he wears them well, so he keeps them, haha). Rory gets these as a result! Now if I could just wig her. Just like James, the 6.5 wig I have (his) is a hair too big and wants too sit far down her dome. Wig caps it is. Any clue which size Monique wigs fit these ladies best? (I don't know the first thing about whether they run big or small). I'm thinking about long ginger brown one that I can braid ...
The Lorriane wig is too big and looks bully IMO. The Sophia wig was very nice. You can see pics of my Leda wearing them on my Flickr: Lorriane: https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/86207086@N03/8022528503/in/set-72157631568585232/ Sophia: https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/86207086@N03/8022529612/in/set-72157631568585232/ My girl now wears 6/7 wigs from Leekeworld. They fit very well.
Hello, Im searching pictures of Limhwa mono.. I want to see him with a different face-up if possible... Thank you !
Youpla Limhwa's boy mono has his own discussion thread here - there are a lot of pictures of him with non-custom face-ups (I have two myself)
Hey all, just thought id jump in, my girl got back from the faceup artist and thought id share 33 there she is Seyeon ^^. shes my Limhwa Sujan. this is not her main wig or clothes, just something to have on her till i get a dew paychecks
She's lovely captainchase! I just received my Sujan last night. She's gorgeous! And wow, she has lovely hands.
Justkatie: Congrats on Sujan! I love the hands! I know some people are not a fan, but they remind me of the pose of a dancer or a musician playing an instrument! My SO had to take pictures of my Limhwas hands because he was so impressed by even the details of the nails. Captainchase: What a lovely face up! I couldn't get either Limhwa doll I own blank, so I'll give their faces some time before I try to replace faces. But I love the difference a custom face makes on these beauties!
JustKatie* Ahhhh congratz on ur Sujan!!!!!!! shes my favorite, obviously xD... so glad u got her, ya their hands are so delicate ^^. and Novemberkris , yah i love her faceup! shes so pretty, i really love her, cant wait to get her new clothes and wig though T.T she will look so much better . i think they look so god (limhwas) they are all so beautiful
I'm thinking about getting Lily, and I was wondering - does anyone have a comparison picture of different resin colors for Leda, Sujan, and Lily? I'd also like to see Lily next to Leda or Sujan if possible.
Hi everyone! I just bought (a bit on impulse) a Limhwa Lily last week from Junkyspot, and she's arriving tomorrow! She'll need a lot of aesthetic work on my part, but that's okay, I look forward to the challenge. I've missed owning a Limhwa since I sold my Aria Series Do boy. She's going to be my redheaded siren character Sam. I got her wig and eyes, but I'm not entirely thrilled with her eyes so I might have to take a trip up to the doll shop 45-50 minutes from where I live to try out different eyes in her. Meltar I sadly can't help, but I can show you what Lily looks like once mine shows up. Everyone has such pretty girls here, I can't wait to share mine.
Here's my Lily (named Sam) standing on one foot! I can also get her to sit upright just fine, I just need to push her legs back far enough in the hip sockets so that the butt locks work. No slouching necessary.
What striking eyes! She's very pretty. ...butt locks, they have butt locks? /goes off to examine ceridwen's butt...
Thank you! And yes they do, pull the leg out of the hip joint a bit and you'll notice that the legs lock along the outside of the butt!
Sam got new eyes! Now I just need to find some pants for her that fit and let her sit (tall order I know).
Izabeth, thank you! I ordered a NS Lily, and I love her. Sam's faceup looks a lot better. I especially like the thicker eyebrows because they make her eyes look more focused. I'm disappointed because my Lily didn't come with flat feet, but someone from Junkyspot said they would talk to Limhwa and send me a pair in the future. I hope I don't have to wait too long. I can't figure out how to balance her standing with high heels, but maybe I can use the butt lock to shift her balance.
That is really strange that she didn't come with flat feet. My girl came with the high heel ones on and the flat ones in a little bubble-wrapped bag. I switched them out real quick because I don't like high heeled feet that much. Also thanks for the compliment Meltar!
Sam looks so cute! Rory (short for Aurora) got some time out today to finally enjoy her new Leekeworld wig I got this summer ( unique lavender). We had some uninvited pests recently and today I finally got the apartment enough in order by sunset to bring dolls out to play. Since she's had the least love so far, I brought her out to lounge. I posted more on Tumblr. Sorry it is so grainy. It was getting dark, but she was playing so nice with my phone camera.
Rory is absolutely beautiful Novemberkris! Is she tan? I've been toying with the notion of getting a tan Limhwa girl again.
Yes, she is tan! She is my first tan doll and I love her. I really need to get some photos in natural light so it shows the color better. Here is her tan vs. James (my Mono) and his NS.
That is a beautiful tan. I used to own a Limhwa Do boy in tan, but it was very orange. Due to several reasons I ended up selling him, but I just couldn't stay away from Limhwa and bought Sam about 2 years later. I would like to suede her so she can keep her arms in a more relaxed pose when she's sitting.
IzabethS, I finally got photos of Rory in tan in the daylight (hah, and this with an iPhone)! Now I can really see why everyone gets so excited about tan dolls (not that I didn't love her before anyway!!) By the way, what she is wearing is supposed to be a skirt for the Mori project, but she's impatient with the lack of her own clothes and thinks it should be a dress so she can look nice for James. More photos on Tumblr.
She's super pretty Novemberkris, I just love seeing Rory! I need to take pictures of Sam again, but Jazz (a doll OT for this thread) has been hogging me with her new electronic eye.
