I received my first doll, a Limhwa Leda from another local seller earlier this month. Just sharing a picture of my daughter, Emma.
So pretty, @Heavenlywater! She looks like she's out just enjoying the city on a sunny day. Are you using a stand or have you sueded or wired your girl? My Sujan is my kickiest doll, and I'm wondering if sueding/wiring would help.
Thank you! No, I am not using a stand. I want to paste (hot glue) and wire it, but I have not decided yet. She is standing alone. DSCF8356 by Marina Barishpol, on Flickr
This thread does not seem very active but I'd love to see more pictures of Leda, Suja or Lily. I just ordered a beige skin Leda from The Junky Spot. Seeing photos of other people's beautiful Limhwa minis would sure make waiting for her easier... So my Leda came yesterday She's my first ever BJD and I love her! She is so beautiful in person, much more than any photo that I've seen was able to convey. The only slight disappointment is that her elastic is so loose that her arms were hanging out of her shoulder sockets. I see on her COA that she was created in 2013, but I bought her brand-new from The Junky Spot. I guess she is "new old stock" and it seems that her elastic has deteriorated with time. I tried to just tighten her arm elastic but it made very little difference because large sections of it have no stretch any more. I've ordered new elastic and I guess that I'm going to learn a new skill sooner than I thought, how to completely re-string a doll So far I've only taken quick phone pics, but I'm going to do a photo shoot once she's re-strung. This is the first time that I'm attempting to load a pic on this site so please bear with me if it doesn't work. This is a photo from her box opening showing her loose stringing. LedaBO Here is a photo of my new Leda with eyes, wig, and clothes on. I was pleasantly surprised that she fit a 5-6 wig that I had, because the 6-7 wigs that I ordered for her haven't come yet. This wig was particularly stretchy and I quite like it on her. The eyes are Glib eyes that I ordered with her from The Junky Spot. She also seems to fit slim MSD size clothes very well. These jeans were just some inexpensive ones that I got from Ebay in MSD size. Leda2
@Hmac58 You just need to restring the arms. There a one loop that goes from hand to hand. Another loop goes from one foot to the head and down to the orher foot. If it's any consolation, i have never had good luck with just tightening elastic. Restringing is more effective and frequently easier
Thanks so much for the advice, Nancy. I wasn't sure where to buy the correct elastic that would get here (to Canada) relatively quickly. I know that the size is 2mm because I measured it. I found some 2mm beading elastic at Michael's online that looks the same but I'm not sure if it is what is used for BJDs. It was inexpensive so I ordered it since it will ship quickly. I found a seller on Etsy from Britain with 2mm elastic listed as being specifically for BJDs so I ordered that, too. I'll use the Michael's elastic at first and if it seems like it's not right I can change to the other when it comes. Packages from Britain, and even the USA, are taking about a month right now.
That sounds like a good plan. The beading elastic should work at least for a few months. It may even be very similar to the bjd elastic.
So I restrung the arms of my new Leda and it's definitely better but I'm going to have to re-do it because she's still too loose. I wasn't sure how tight to do it and I'm still learning but at least she can pose for photos better now. I also tried a new wig on her. I really am enjoying her a lot BrunetteLeda2
It seems that Limhwa Leda is not a very well-known doll, since this thread is very quiet. I'm going to keep posting though, in case someone down the road is looking for info on this girl. I think that she has an absolutely beautiful body and her face is quite unique. I can't stop trying different wigs and clothes on her. She's so photogenic! Leda
Your Leda is lovely @Hmac58! Leda is one of my favourites! Here's my girl. It's a really old picture... I should take more photos of her. The poor girl is feeling neglected!
Thank you @Aeilia. I love your Leda - she looks gorgeous with red hair and that green sweater. It's so nicely made and looks like such a perfect fit. Did you knit it yourself?
I've just bought a Limhwa Sujan and hope to see her next week (she's just coming from Nevada). I'd love to have something she would wear when she gets here. I also like to knit for my dolls and wondered if you had a pattern for that hoodie sweater - it's so cute.
Hi Violet Kidd. Congratulations on your Sujan! The Limhwa ladies are so beautiful, I'm sure you'll love her. This is the pattern that I used. It's sized for Minifee, but fit Leda really well. DOA member Wovenflame is the designer. Her patterns are available on Ravelry and through her Etsy shop. This is a wonderful hoodie pattern. I love that you can put it on feet first, because the body will easily fit through the neck hole.
Thank you so much. She's in the mail now. I can't wait to meet her. I've never seen a Limhwa doll in real life.
She's here! Now I need to find some patterns for clothes that will fit her. My MSD clothes are too small and my JID clothes are too big. Any suggestions? Limhwa Sujan by Victoria Davis, on Flickr This is the first dress I've made from a pattern I drafted from measurements. It might not be as good as I think it is, because I really can't see. I made the dress within hours of cataract surgery and couldn't see where I was cutting or if the thread actually went through the needle. But both my doll and I are happy with it. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51203014466_7fe390685a_c.jpgLimhwa Sujan dress by Victoria Davis, on Flickr
Thank you. I really must praise my wonderful friend Susan who gave me that fabric (along with a HUGE box of other fabric). She's a quilter so it was all fat quarters. By piecing a bit, I was able to get this dress out of one fat quarter.
You say it might not be as good as you think, but that's one of the most beautiful dresses I've ever seen! She's such a pretty doll, your dress making really suits her
