I never went to any convention but I think of going to LDoll this year.

I *think* I am coming to L Doll this year from the States...I definitely won't be bringing any dolls with me but hope to be taking a few back home

 

I will come to Lyon this year. It will be the first time! I am very happy and superexcited!

 

I never went to a convention on the theme of dolls. Being agoraphobic, it is very difficult for me to leave home, especially if I am not accompanied. But this year, a very nice lady has agreed to take me there! I am both scared and terribly excited and happy to go there with her! (etc... haha! )

Will you take your dolls there? If so, wich dolls, why and how?

Do you plan to take advantage of this convention to meet new people, see or see your friends in the hobby? Will some of you exchange swaps?

How do you imagine your transition to this convention? In cosplay? In normal attire?

(Excuse me if I ask too many questions ... Of course, nobody is obliged to answer it! I am just terribly excited and curious about this convention! )

 

I'm definitely going this year!! It'll be the first time I go to LDoll and I can't wait to experience it all. I'll most likely take a doll with me. I just haven't decided which one yet.

That does look awesome! But Lyon is so far! Please, lots of people attend so it gets bigger and comes to the UK next time! Or even Paris so I could just get on the Eurostar!

 

I'm pretty sure going to be there once again this year. Although I won't have a booth this time as I don't habe any time to prepare something. That's good though, as I'll have way more time to look at all the booths then .

Well you can wear whatever you like best. The majority of the people wear normal attire, however there are also people wearing cosplays. Actually at the last two LDolls there have even been cosplay contests.

See, now you're making it sound easy! Which, to be fair, it probably is. I'm not much of a traveller. I went from the UK to Australia and back and while I had a great time I feel like I'm journeyed out!

It will be one year in octobre that I'm into the bjd hobby and I will receive my first doll in May (normally xD)

When I discovered that there was a really big doll convention in France, I was sure that it takes place in Paris so I was frustrated because I wouldn't be able to go there. This is when I discovered that it actually takes place in Lyon AND at my university !!
I was sooo happy this day, I couldn't believe it !!
So, of course, I have the obligation to go !!
I will probably bring my future doll (and start saving money xD) !

I can't wait to be there and meet new people with the same hobby and of course be able to see talented artists !!

The Ldoll is one big convention but there are other one too

 

Unfortunately I live in the UK now and there isn't anything here. I think the easiest convention to get to from here would be the Holland one.
LDoll looks so cool though

 

@PrincessR : I don't know if there are any discounts on the ticket for the Ldoll for those who come from another country It will probably be easier for them (because they have to pay the means of transport to be there)

 

Not quite sure to which convention you are referring to, but if you are talking about the Dolliverse in the Netherlands, then I'm afraid to have bad news for you. As far as I know the Dolliverse has always been organized by the two ladies who were running the doll shop Think Pink . They closed their shop some time ago, hence there won't be any new Dolliverse either.

@xrubyharmony my biggest issue with Ldoll is not the convention, it' the flight times to get there: it means I would have to take holiday from work ... but I need all my holiday to look after my son during the school holiday so it's a happy "sacrifice"

 

Anybody knows, how to buy tickets online? If I can not to by it on Ldoll site, it means that sales are finished, and it is possible to buy them just on a place in Lyon? It is my first time, and I wanted to buy it 5th of march, but seams far too late!, feel a little panic, that I couldn't get a VIP tickets, and can loose a chance to get a favorite dolls!
And I have to travel more than 9 hours one side, but still do not exactly understand what about the tickets situation!
Help!

I just booked my flights and stuff (from U.K.). This will be my first ever bjd convention. Excited! So glad there’s one within reach in Europe because most of the ones I hear of are too far away.

 

The LDoll people have exceeded the start of the ticketsales (almost) twice now, so I'm wondering when they'll actually go for sale.

Oh, hey, I just bought my tickets. @elf-ears and I have made the crazy decision to go to France... all the way from California! I hope we survive flying from so far...

It is exciting. I haven't done any foreign travel for years... and there are so few countries nearby Southern California... just Mexico... everything else is very far away... even parts of the US is very far away. We are about as far from the East Coast of the US as they are from Europe...

 

I'm interested in going, but does anyone know the best (cheapest, arriving on the morning of) way to get to Lyon from Paris? I looked at buses but they all seem to arrive late in the day, so plane/train seem to be the only options?

Unfortunately yes, train and plane are the best options to be on Lyon fastly... Buses are always cheaper but that’s reaaaally long... About 7 hours if I remember well...


I will be there too because I have a booth and will present my own BJDs... Yay!

 

Too bad I can't go this year, I'm so sad about it.

Last time I went from Paris to Lyon with a friend by train and it was about two hours (which for me is short time). I can't help you with the ticket booking since my friend purchased the tickets.

Oh wow, this sounds so cool. I have been to Lyon before, but that was some years ago (maybe 2009... oh my gosh, time flies by!). I really like the city and would love to travel there again (Especially for a convention, because I have never been to one). unfortunately I will start my new job in October and I doubt I will be able to come... what a shame...
And even I had the time, I would have to travel alone (from Germany, so that would work) and my french is just awful... awww, I wish I had people around me, that share the hobby. Everything is so much easier if you have someone by your side, especially travelling to other countries. It is awful to get lost alone... but can be fun with the right people XD

I'm also coming from California! I am working in Paris Friday & Saturday, so I can only come on Sunday...buuuut I'm stoked!!!

I'll be going to LDoll too! I'm very excited! I'll probably be behind my table most of the time and not have any cash to spend but yeah, that's how this year ended up as. ^_^;;

 

Seriously looking into going since I should have some money coming in next month that would help cover the expenses. I'll probably only bring my Smartdoll though, since he's easiest to carry and least likely to get damaged.

I am trying to adjust my scedule in a way that makes it possible to attend LDoll this year. I will know more on monday. I hope to make this work. I would really love to go there although I would have to find flights and a place to sleep very quickly

 

I will attending Ldoll for the first time this year. I am flying from Toronto, Canada. I have been in the doll hobby 12 years but have never been to a European doll convention!

My French is not good but I will try!

 

My French is terrible-- non-existent, really. It's not easy to get any practice out here in California. I'm also bad at languages to begin with... But I am hoping some people will take pity on us and try to practice their English!

 

Please don't worry, I can assure all of you that you will get along with English just fine .
