LDOLL FESTIVAL: The European BJD Convention (29-30 Oct. 2016 - FRANCE)

Dec 30, 2015

    1. I must visit here. It's my goal..! :)

    2. :dance:thumbup

    3. Vote for the photo contest now !!

After all we said on this thread, we were so worried we would have no participations, but we've received a lot more than expected and some of great quality.
We've made all entries anonymous and we hid vote counts to try to minimize crowd effects at the max.

Have a look, and vote for your favorite <3

    4. I voted! All the entries look great.

    5. :thumbup:hug:

    6. I voted too. great entries. I had 4 favorites.

Really looking forward to this Ldoll as I missed it last year (I was there at the beginning and went to all of them so far.).
      I really love this event.

    7. We already missed you last time. The number of German collectors attending has increased significantly since last LDoll, but I wondered why we haven't met. Looking forward to see you again this year!

(Will you bring along one of your gorgeous full-sets this time, too? ;) )

    8. Loved the entries. Real colorful and fun!

This year will be my first time at LDoll (and as an exhibitor) - I'm soooo much looking forward to it! My sister and her husband are also coming. We'll be happy to meet people from the community!

    9. Wonderful entries from everyone! :D I voted my favourite!

I'm trying to sew as much as I can before the event! >w< It will be so exiting!

    10. Hi Sharkyra, I am looking forward to seeing You again, too.
I have not yet decided who I will bring. Perhaps my new IH Falcon (but he is no fullset and will be really heavy...).:3nodding:

PS: Just booked a room for that weekend!

    11. I cannot believe it only now occurred to me to look for a thread here o___o. I am so disappointed in myself, lol. Anyways, I will be there, Faery kiss will share a stand with the very talented Dr. Krow of Ahki. All our travel arrangements have been made a good while ago by me so all I need to do now is to sew sew sew! I feel so excited to be back there this year and to meet so many old friends and new people too ^^.

    12. As my excitement about the last October weekend increases:whee:

...I am sorry to say that I do now understand the criticism of the photo contest from the start of the thread better.
It *is* a popularity contest. I see people pimping their entries in the big BJD flickr groups and actively inviting others to vote for them... and on the contest page the voting function itself leads you to "share" your vote/ entry within all the bigger social networks, so you couldn't have it handier. People with little presence in the social media do not stand a fair chance, compared to contestants that do have many followers already used to liking all the contestant's posts anyway.

Maybe I am naive that way, as that's how things are done today, and it cannot really be prevented. But as a lover of original doll photography it makes me a little sad. There are many works of true photographic art among the entries, I just hope they get their just appreciation, that's all.

BTW, no, I have not entered into the contest. I am photographically challenged, to say the least;)

    13. I will be there too! Will be sharing a booth with Les Enfants Terribles and be vending some clothes by Nezumitoo to put the fact that I have a vendor table (for the chair xD) to good use xD

    14. I did enter the contest and didn't really catch on to the idea of soliciting votes until too late. I'm so used to the DoA way of keeping everything secret! Not that it would have made a great difference to my tally but I honestly would rather get less votes and have them be based on true appreciation rather than friends and family.
I imagine, though, that this method of voting provides a lot of free advertising for the event.

    15. I hope to go to Ldoll this year.
I am preparing for the month of October!!!!

    16. I am too excited to go to the LDoll this year ! I will to my best to have a lot of doll for sale. LDoll is the most beautiful doll's exhibition in France. <3

    17. I'll be there with a friend too <3 Sharing a stand. Can't wait to attend a convention only for dolls :D

    18. I agree with you. I saw someone post their entry on social media and was shocked to see them ask people to vote for their entry. I thought it would be like on DOA where you're not allowed to post your entry online 'til after voting has closed.

    19. I agree with Mandagore, phanuel and Eiko82 about the photo contest. It is sad that quality, originality or usability as a poster didn't count but only the size of your 'fanbase'.
I still entered simply because I liked the theme and challenged myself not to go for the obvious choice of cute cookie-thief. But I knew full well I stood no chance because I'm not on social media and don't have the time to be active online a lot, so the result of 8 votes is no surprise - or rather a surprise for being so much! ;)

Anyway, a question for those of you who've been to Ldoll or similar events before, as LDoll will be my first:
How do you usually pay at the stands? Some cash for accessories or so is obvious, but what if you want to buy a whole doll? I have a credit card, but I've forgotten the PIN meanwhile because I usually only use it for online purchases. :doh

    20. You pay mostly by cash... especially by the artist booths. Some company (very few) accept CC or Paypal like Dollmore (I think).
In the lobby is an ATM. But it did also happened that it was empty at noon because too many withdraw cash.

    21. Yeah, I recommend getting most of your money as cash before the event as the ATM is soon empty.

    22. Oh dear, I see! Thank you both for this important info! :D

    23. I'm really looking forward to go there. To be honest, I'm so excited I haven't slept since the beginning of the week. It's literally 15 minutes away from where I live so I wouldn't miss it for anything in the world.

I've made cosplays for my boyfriend and I, so we'll be dressed as Carved Heritage Marien and Lawrence (from Iplehouse ).

    24. Wow, great to know there'll be cosplays for us to see! Wonderful! :D

I'm soon going to the airport on my way to France! So exiting! See you all at the festival! :D

    25. I'll be leaving tomorrow (and just freed my stock from customs, talk about close!) - see you there!

    26. Yeah, there is a cosplay contest on sunday, so I did my very best. I never thought of mixing cosplay and bjds before but Iplehouse outfits are just... :love
(And I couldn't resist, I had an occasion of dressing up my boyfriend like a living doll haha:lol:)

    27. Yeah, wow, the anticipation is increasing..! :D
Especially as we booked our flight with the airline going on strike tomorrow. :...(
I just hope they've sorted things out enough until Friday so that we can somehow get there.

    28. I'm making ready to fly over on Friday. Wheeeeee! So looking forward to this :).

    29. I will also arrive on Friday.

@Ophiaca: I hope everything will be worked out until Friday. I also will go by Lufthansa but luckily for me until now "only" the subsidiary of Lufthansa is on strike.
Two years ago I got unlucky because the main line of Lufthansa was on strike. I got back thanks to the other German girls who took me with them by car. =_=

    30. I am very excited too. I will arrive late Friday night going by car.
So, no strike will hinder me in coming. ;)

    31. Thank you for the good wishes!
It looks like the strike will be over by midnight, but only for this week. So tomorrow we'll get there in all probability, perhaps a little delayed. I hope we won't have to fret about the flight back as well!
But before that, hope to see you all there! :)

    32. :...( Our flight has been cancelled after all. We were just about to leave for the airport when we received the message. The strike is over, but due to illness they had to cancel. And they still haven't announced which days they'll be on strike next week, could well be our flight back would be affected as well. So we decided to have all refunded and hope for better luck next year.
We already had LDoll tickets for both days and were so excited to finally be able to visit LDoll! :atremblin

    33. It was a great convention! Love LDoll!

    34. I did not go to Ldoll neither Saturday nor Sunday.
I hope it will be for next year!

    35. It was such a wonderful convention this year! :aheartbea

Your costumes were great! And you both looked so cool! :thumbup

    36. I went to the Ldoll, the first day :) That was amazing ! I met a lot of people there. For those you went there too, did you have fun ? ^^
I hope so. Afortunatly, I saw that this Ldoll was probably the last one ...

    37. I hope it will not be the last one...

    38. Tell me where you can see the photo report on the festival?

    39. Hi.
Here is a little video made there ;)

    40. Oh, nice video! Thanks for posting!!! :)

    41. Oo nice, I'll be excited to see the second half, especially if you got Magic Mirror Studio on there

    42. You're welcome ^^
