Awesome! I'm glad you guys are organizing Ldoll again this year! Last year I couldn't come though I really wanted to(I just moved and with all the hassle had no time to even prepare anything for the booth I wanted @_@)so I'm definitely taking the opportunity to come this year and have a stand! *send you an email*

And I will be there againnnnnn!!! It was a honor and a pleasure to have been present in the first one, and I won't miss the next by any meanings ^_^!! I think, besides the shops and stands, we could organize some activities... what about a photography setting, so the people could photograph their dolls with other people dolls, in a beautiful background? I wouldn't mind ot come a bit early and help to arrange it! Or even a face up class, I would also offer gladly to do something like that, because I guess Cycy will be again absolutely busy ; ) I can't wait for it! And this year... I will go with lots of money D:, I suffered a lot last year not being able to purchase almost anything :___!!

We're thinking of offering something akin to a photography setting! We'll be working on it, and hopefully we'll have something ready for the festival. We could tell last year that people were missing the space to pose their dolls and take single or group pictures >.<

As for the make-up class, well, the thing is we can not use MSC within the convention hall as it's a dangerous product. So it makes such class or make-up show a little difficult :'/
We're trying to think of ways to counter the problem, but we most likely won't be doing a painting workshop this year. U__U

I'd love to see you paint a doll But yeah, right now we can't afford to buy doll heads just for that purpose and we can't fix layers within the hall.

Start saving plenty :P I can tell there will be more to tempt you this year

 

Jaina, you mention sth. important here, because as far as I know there was somebody spraying sealer in the hall last year wich was very anoying -_- . I don't mind if people want to face-up their dolls, but please make them spray the sealer outside of the building.

This should definitely not happen again. We'll be much more careful about this issue this year so that no one uses sealer inside :'/

Ah true; I must say, in the face up class I imparted, the sealing and spraying was always done outdoors, but I guess that's easier to do in a smaller enviroment (the Hall was really alrge, if I recall well!) I was not present when the person sprayed whatever, but I am sure that in a closed, crowded enviroment, it has to be really annoying!

 

Oh yes yes yes!!! I've been waiting this notice like nothing else! >w< I'll come with bunch of other finnish people! 8D Fabulous, and we will definitely book a stand-thing for our stuff.

I'll be attending this years festival with my dolls

 

I was so sad I couldn't come last year so trying to get there this year! Everyone seemed to have had so much fun I almost turned green (in positive way). Subscribing to this thread.

 

Kaede^ Yay! More finns with us! And great to see some people I personally admire are going to attend this festival.

 

It's awesome to see that there will be even more people attending this year.

You know what? I think we need to organize a little personal meeting or something like that on Saturday evening. From last year's experience I know that we're all so busy during the con itself, looking after our dolls, our boots and such, so it would be nice to meet each other afterwards to hang out together and just chat.

 

I'm SO looking forwards to this event! I had so much fun last year, meeting the people from all over the world! Hopefully more companies will come and propose beautiful dolls I'll have trouble transporting back to Paris XD

Thanks for the clarification! I was wondering, is it also allowed to use creatures that appear in several legends, but don't necessarily only have one legend? For example like Banshees? And are you also allowed to use a tale or creature that has ties to one specific country?

Yes, folkloric creatures are just fine ^^ They fall under the "legend" theme
And we consider a "legend" to be in fact often tied to a specific country. So banshees would be just fine :P (now you make me curious 8D)

I was thinking about entering the customisation competitions but now I read the guidelines for the competition I'm a bit worried that the subject I've chosen for the theme of 'Tales and Legends' is not really in theme!
It may be a obvious answer, anyway I was thinking of doing making something based off the legend of eldorado. While I say legend there is no actual proof eldorado ever exsisted so I'm not sure whether it can be classed as a myth or a legend.
Just to clarify what the story is about,

I wanted to make a custimisation based on the cheif who started this whole thing off, with sort of bases off aztec/muisca influence of culture and the obvious gold element!
If that's all okay I guess the last thing would be that the doll I've chosen for this has feet claws, annoyingly enough his human legs won't fit anymore (long story). Would that be a problem though? I think he would suit the costume very well but the fact is the cheif was a human, I think I might be stretching the rules a bit or just overthinking things!
Sorry if this is just an overworry and the answer is very obvious, I've already started making the outfit so I'm kinda worried all the work will be for naught! Epp this post is long

 

Krowbar, don't worry, we here have also problem with the definition of tales and legends.

We're currently struggling here as well .

 

Krowbar - The El Dorado is a legend and not a myth in that it does not refer to a sacred story of world creation ^^
Therefore it is whithin the theme and you can do something inspired from that! It's an awesome idea!!
You can also use your fantasy parts; there is no restriction regarding that ^^

Haha, it's not going to be banshees, but something like it xD I originally was inspired by a creature from Dutch legends, but after researching them, I found there's actually many versions in Europe of these creatures, some kind, some evil..so now I just have to pick one and get to work! XD

 

I took a class about Fairy Tales and Fables when I was at uni, and I was really amazed to discover how the same general story had passed on to all those different parts of the world!
It's really cool XD

I'm in the same boat as Krowbar, I was thinking of doing Leonidas I of Sparta? It has mythology behind it but is also a legend.

Unfortunately, Greek mythology is not on topic for our contest
I'm really sorry because it sounds like an awesome idea! But we had to give ourselves a clear perimeter for this contest, and it was decided that mythology was different from fairy tales.
I am going to ask Cycy and Lelahel to be sure whether Leonidas is on topic and I'll get back to you as quickly as possible! But I don't think it can work as it is primarily Greek mythology... I'll get back to you asap!

SuviFay - As I thought Leonidas was not deemed on topic by the rest of the staff as he is a real-life figure and the 'legend' part of him is based on mythology.

I had such a great time in 2010 edition. I am wishing to come back also this year and to take part in some of the contests (Freedom, for instance, is a very inspiring theme for me) again as well if I have the chance. My main worry about contests is being able to get the image with the required (JPEG file, 300 dpi, A4 size) format properly and on time. Hope I may go, do so and see you there.

Concerning the format requirement for the picture contest, what photo edit program do you have?
I don't know many freeware except a French one, and I myself use photoshop, but it should be simple once you have your pic to get it to the right format by simply changing the size and resolution detail of your image. It is probably already a high resolution from your camera settings ^^

Thanks for answering so quickly. To modify resolution of JPEG images I use CS2 version of photoshop. I do not think I will have problems with that, but I do not know how to change size to A4 with it. I would really thank if you might help me with it and perhaps more people who have the same doubt I do.

 

yesterday I've sent my payment and today signed contract...so I think if i have done no mistake in anything I think that i'll be one of the private exibithor!!! I'm so happy to come and i've a lot of work to dooooo to prepare all!! I'm still waiting for confirmation...but i'm so excited to come that i couldn't wait to post!XD
