So, I ordered a Lumi Basic w/ Renewal Body, and paid for a Premium Make up service. I'm realllllly nerves though Because I have no idea what the eyebrowwwws are going to look like. Her eyebrows are really the only part I'm actually worried about. I've found on flickr pictures of lil lati's with the Premium Make up. But all of the pictures usually state 'pinky red lips' or 'red orange cheeks' . Nothing really with eyebrow pictures. I'm so scared she is going to look angry >< I just don't want her to look angry or sad. I picked Option C for the eyebrows in gray. Should I just take a chill pill and try to relax or should I ask lati about it? I don’t want to seem too picky.. because really I will be happy with nearly anything, I just don’t want her to be sad or angry.. you know?
Thank you for fielding that question, lebianca! Just wanted to say I added a shop to the Etsy list. Seems like a nice weekend for browsing...
Miriam (Mimisstuff) recommends looking at knickers (yes really!!), both childrens and larger sizes, as the prints are usually very small and perfect for small scale sewing
Oh.. OHH!!! Really really thank's for the information!!! It's so complete! I'm interested a lot because I'm looking for a puki puki or tiny doll >.<
This is an AMAZING thread. I wish I would have researched DOA and found this thread before I bought my first Lati. I made some mistakes in my ordering. I just wasn't educated enough in the terms when ordering. What a newbie I am ! Thank you thank you for this thread. I am so glad now too that you taught me how to remove the head w/o destringing! xo xo xo to you!
Aw, thanks you guys. It's awesome to know people find it helpful. flgirl05- I'm sorry to hear you had trouble ordering. It is complicated. I hope you're happy with what you have now, though! I have a Lati ordering mistake in my collection (my White). Before they made it so you could choose the gender, I ordered a boy when I thought I was getting a girl. Under her dresses she's still...well, you know. But I love her.
Hi. Please take a look at my avatar on facebook and tell me what face mold the doll is, I can't find out http://www.facebook.com/#!/profile.php?id=100000224465294 I love those big blue eyes
thats lati white sp belle , the one on your avatar is the limited elf version from 2007 she`s lovely http://latidoll.com/2007_en/index.htm?mode=product_view&big=1&mid=2&num=1132
Why I don't find good free patterns for Lati Yellow SP?? Only for Lati Yellow normal are good. There's a lot of free patterns on the web, for every type of doll... I don't understand why for Lati SP nobody do something for POOR lati SP's owers T___T I don't mean those few and free patterns for SP that are everything except that cute U_U Maybe it was better to buy a normal lati yellow.
Thank you all so much for the info in this thread It's been really useful. I've been having trouble making an account on the Lati shop, but now I've read this thread I've found out that it's because I use Firefox browser & need to swap to Explorer to make an account. So pleased, as I want the news letters to find out when the next ordering is open. My only problem now is which lovely girl to order. I really want a yellow lati, it will be my first. They're all so cute though!! I have the Lati bug and can't stop looking at pics of them!! Thank you again!
I'm a little confused with dollhouse scales O_O. Maybe somebody can help me here? I'm looking for fitting furniture for my YoSD-, Lati Yellow- & PukiPuki-sized dolls. I heard that 1:6 scale is for YoSD size, while 1:12 is fitting for Lati Yellows (and Pukis, if I consider them small children). Is that true?? Many thanks in advance!
Babyelf- It sort of depends on how choosy you are with the concept of scale. Scale pretty much means what it says. 1:12 means that 1"=12". So in that world, a 4" doll, like Lati White, would be 4' tall, maybe the size of a 6-7 yo child. A White Sp, would be over 4 1/2' tall. Additionally, these dolls are bulkier than traditional 1:12 scale dollhouse occupants, which can also make the furnishings seem off with respect to the dolls. When a Lati White or White Sp is in a 1:12 house, I think it works best if it's obviously their house. Not a house where you would expect a parent to show up, because the parent of a Lati White would never fit in such place. 1:12 scale houses work very well for elves, and for creatures like the Pipos Junior anthros. I think it depends more on the character than the size of the doll in that respect. 1:6 scale means that each inch equals six inches in the real world. This is often referred to as "playscale" and encompasses a lot of items meant for 12" fashion dolls like Barbie. It's the scale in which most Rement stuff is made, and is collected by a lot of Blythe enthusiasts. The Yellows are roughly 6" and 8" tall, or 3' and 4' in the 1:6 scale world, which is about the size of children 3-7. I think this makes a lot of 1:6 accessories look really good with them. Again, you have the issue of them being more fleshed out than the dolls for which a lot of these items were intended. In the 1:6 world, Barbie is probably about 5'9" or so, and wears a size 4 wig, while the Yellows' heads wear as size 6/7. So it would take some experimentation to find the look you're going for. I've also seen 1:12 furnishings photographed with the Yellows, like kitchen sets looking really cute as playhouse type furniture the little Yellows can play pretend with. I think this might be a small part of the charm of the Yellows, that there is so much available for them in terms of props. I know I've seen at least one fashion doll house become a really cute home for a Lati Yellow. What I said about the 1:12 houses above applies here as well. The Yellows fit well in such a house, but it's entirely their domain. A larger doll coming in to caretake them wouldn't work. YoSDs are slightly smaller and slimmer than Lati Green. (I have a Green, not a YoSD. Littlefees should also fit into this category.) My Green is about 12" tall. If I considered her a child of 8 years, I might want to think of her as about 4' tall. That would make her 1:4 scale. Be aware that in the world of miniatures, if you go looking for 1/4 scale or quarter scale, what you will find is 1/4" scale, where one inch equals 144 inches. This is very, very tiny stuff that works well for us as toys for our Whites and Yellows. If your YoSD is 10-11 inches tall and you would say she's about 50-55 inches in real life (somewhere around 4 1/2 feet), that would be approximately a 1:5 scale. There's not much in that scale furnishings wise, although vehicle models are sometimes made in that size. (Motorcycles!) Another popular scale for furnishings and accessories is 1:3 scale. This is what you will find for a lot of the 18" play dolls like American Girl and all their knock-offs. A lot of these accessories work for SD size dolls (Lati Red), but are too big and bulky for any of the other Latis. However, the toy designers who don't concern themselves too much with scale will sometimes come out with things that are somewhat off for their own dolls and that might work for yours. There are also accessories made for My Twinn which is a 23" doll. I believe those are often referred to as 1:3, but obviously they are way too big for tinies. There are also some (though not a lot of) furnishings and accessories available for 17" fashion dolls (Ellowyne, Tyler, etc., dolls that are roughly the same scale as Lati Blue, although Tyler is slimmed down like a big Barbie), that might work for YoSD kids. Additionally, look at photos of Bluette and see what those collectors are using, as Bluette is nearly identical in size to Lati Green. In the end, it comes down to your personal taste, what kinds of characters you have, and what kind of world you're looking to create. A 1:6 scale structure might house all your tinies if you're just looking for a place to keep them and decorate bedrooms for them. A bookcase or set of cubbies with 12" shelves might serve a simlar purpose. Before purchasing a dollhouse, I'd suggest getting some furniture, maybe putting together a single roombox, and getting an idea of what will be out there to fit in a house and what you like for your dolls. Take your dolls to the toy store and miniatures shop, sit them down in some houses and furniture. See how fussy you are about what looks "right" and in scale. Some people are really flexible about that, with adorable results. Some people can't get past the "something's off" look. The biggest thing is just to experiment and have fun searching for and collecting items for your tinies, and to make that part of your hobby, rather than a source of frustration. I hope something in there is helpful to you.
Wow susan402, thank for this very detailed answer! It was/will be a tremendous help when I go shopping for furniture!! Many thanks!
Thanks so much for this information. I have been searching on the web for hours looking for this iinformation, and it's been right here this whole time!
Will 1/6 sized wigs work? Especially wigs from fm-anime? I emailed them and asked if they do pukifee/latiyellow size and they replied back with yes and mentioned the size would be 1/6. I just want to make sure. It's hard to find wigs in lati yellow size that aren't in natural colors and the blonde/pink. :/
a question, does huujo shoes fit lati yellow sp foot? hooju foot is 3.5 not sure if the shoe would be tight on the sizes though...
Wow thanks so much for this great amount of info on the Lati yellows! I just ordered my first one and now am trying to build a wardrobe before she gets here- I have spent the entire morning looking at the links (and filling up my shopping carts ) It was great as a newbie to find this information all in one place! Thanks so much Susan!
help! could someone please direct me to a thread or somewhere with instructions on how to restring a Lati? Many thanks!
I am waiting my Lati Yellow to come in my arm. I will post pic after se arrive ^^ HeHeHe. Can't wait!!!
@hoatien- I've had that trouble with PayPal before. It seems like there's some secret, internal limit on accounts as far as how much you're allowed to charge to your credit card within a given period of time. I can get no help with this issue with the customer service people. If you look around at the help, there's stuff about clicking a link for "View Limits", but I have never been able to find that, and when I asked customer service to explain where I could find it, they basically ignored that part of my query. When it's happened to me with Lati, I have just used my credit card via Lati's website and not had any problems. Unless things have radically changed with Lati since I bought all mine, they take so long to get orders out that you're no longer protected by PayPal anyway, so it didn't seem to really matter very much. One thing I try to do, if I know I'm going to have to use my CC for a PayPal transaction, is to try to set up a "Send Money" via PayPal to someone else before ordering. I set it up to someone I know and trust (like my husband or BFF), just in case something goes wrong and I actually send it. The purpose is just to see if the CC option is going to be available to me that day or not. Then I cancel the transaction without sending it and proceed with my order. Hope that makes sense. If anyone's been able to fix this issue with PayPal, I would love to hear about it. (Not that I need to put anything else on my CC evar.) @everyone else- thanks for all the thankies in this thread. I don't always come back and say it, but I appreciate them, and you're very welcome. I'm really not active in the doll stuff right now, because the fiction stuff has taken over my life at the moment, and I'll be working on this current book at least for the rest of the year before I can give my dollies some much-needed attention. Whenever there's news that needs to be included here, I hope you'll feel free to contact me!
Does anyone know of a free knitting pattern for a lati yellow hat and cardigan/jumper? I saw a patterned one on the first page but as I'm a novice I really just want a plain hat pattern; or is it easier to crochet hats? Thanks
Thank you!!! And twinklelights, it is extremely normal for this Lati are really slow, but I hope they speed things up soon!
WOW. Thanks for information!!!!.. Byurl arrived home today. I am so happy for making clothes for my baby!!!
My first BJD finally arrived in Dec of 2010, my very cute little Lumi, she is adorable. I was wondering will any 14mm eyes work for her? Thank you! ^.^
Thanks for all of this information. I am a Newbie to Lati and having all of this information about where to shop, what size eyes, wigs, etc. to purchase is extremely helpful. Thanks again! Heather Oh, and GIRLPLANET- the answer is YES! 12mm and 14mm eyes will work for Lati. 14mm eyes are what Lati uses and 14mm eyes have less white (sclera) on them and more pupil color. The 12mm will work too, but show less pupil color, and more white which others think are more realistic looking. I prefer 14mm!
I'm thinking of getting a LaTi basic coco. Please can you tell me what she will come like? Will she come with magnetic hands (if so, what does this mean) what do I have to do with her (must I re-string her? clean her?) before I can start playing? -THank you SO much
Refeti- You should not have to clean or restring your new doll when she arrives. She will be naked, wrapped in a little blanket, and her eyes will be in place. Basically you can just take her out of the box, pop on a wig and some clothes, and start playing. I'm not certain (because I haven't had a new doll from Lati for some time), but it does look to me like the dolls come with magnetic hands now. There's a FAQ about those here: http://www.latidoll.com/2007_en/index.htm?mode=faq&sc=en&num=45. HTH
Thanks for the info on the magnetic hands! Does anyone know how to change non-magnetic hands? Is it very difficult? I don't want to mess up my little Miel, but I'd like to switch her hands! Thanks in advance!
I honestly don't remember if the yellow Latis come with S-hooks on their hands, but that's the easiest way to change. (I'm pretty sure the hands on the Whites are held on with a loop made of elastic thread, and can't remember if the Yellows came the same way.) If you don't find S-hooks small enough to fit in the wrists, you can make them with strong wire and round nose pliers. Changing them is pretty simple and you can't really mess anything up permanently. The elastic string that goes down the arm is doubled so that the end forms a loop. The worst you could do is lose hold of that elastic and let it pop back into the doll. If that happened, you'd just get to learn to restring your doll. To change them you just pull gently on the hand until you can see the end of the elastic where it's connected. You'll want to put something through that loop, such as a pencil (I use a small, steel crochet hook, but anything like that). The pencil sits across the wrist opening and keeps the elastic from getting pulled back into the arm. Remove the hand. If it's tied on with elastic thread, you just cut through that. You can tie the new hand on, but like I said, S-hooks are really convenient and you'd just hook the new hand into the elastic loop. Pull the pencil out and let the elastic pull the hand back up into the wrist. That's all it is.
Aw, thank you so much for your quick response! I just pulled her hand a little, and there IS an S-hook! So, just to clarify...because she does have an S-hook, I just need to un-hook the elastic string from the S-hook, and the hand will come off. I then replace the hand with another hand, and re-hook the elastic string to the new hand? (Sorry, I'm really nervous and don't want to hurt her!)!
Was wondering if anyone could tell me if there are 2 different types of Lati Yellow bodies? I adopted a Miel back in October, and today my Coco came from a fellow BK member. They look exactly alike, until I notice the details. Look @ the feets! Miel's is more detailed, and Coco's seem bigger! Any input would greatly be appreciated
Wow! this is very helpful information. Especially as I try to create clothes for a lati doll. I actually started making some designs yet have not aquired the doll just yet. After seeing your measurements I think I could be off on a few. But the clothes are so tiny it wont be hard to make them twice. thanks again!
twinklelights09: For me, I ordered at 19/4 and lati confirmed at 21/4.....I use Visa payment^^ don't know whether the method of payment matters.
I was poking around on ebay, looking at random 5" dolls to see if there were any clothes I could scrounge from them. I've already learned that Wee Patsy's dresses are all right.. But does anybody know if Miss Nancy Ann's clothes would fit? (Super apologies if this isn't the place to ask!!!)
as a newbie here - I really appreciate this thread - started at the beginning with all your "stats" - so very helpful. Also a lati lover. thanks.
I totally love this resource thread .. I have a Lati in the way So I am trying to find *it* some new clothes .. or make some if I can ^^ Thank you ~
Hello! Does anyone know where I can find info on doing your own home tan on your Lati? I've been searching and can't find any info on it. Thanks in advance!
I have an in-coming Lati yellow Ruki. She will be my 1st Lati. I am so excited!!! Thank you so much for this Wonderful thread.....So full of information for newbies, such as myself.
