Hey guys- I have been doing pretty much nothing but researching today and learning more about the Lati Yellow line. I think I have finally decided I NEED a Lati Yellow Lea in my life!! I read somewhere else on this forum that Lati usually sells 4 times a year, September included? Please let me know if that has changed!! My 6 year wedding anniversary is in September and now I know what I want from my hubby! LOL!

Also... I just realized there is a significant size difference between the basic and basic sp dolls... do most people get the basic over the basic sp? I saw one main comparison picture and it looked like the basic is a little "chubbier" looking? I honestly think I like basic better than basic sp if I'm going by that comparison picture only... Anyone have more comparison pics I could see?

just know that lati has a really long waiting time right now, and if you order you lea direct from lati for your 6th anniversary, she likely won't arrive till you are almost ready to celebrate your 7th! the dolls are worth it, but if you want something faster, you may want to check the marketplace when you have been here long enough

 

Yes the 16cm size is the more popular one and if you type in 'lati yellow' in etsy you'll find most of the clothes are for the smaller size. Current wait times are awful though - I ordered from Lati on the 23rd December and I'm still waiting, so be warned. But as Auntbear says, once you've been here long enough you will probably be able to find a cute doll in the marketplace. Also check out Flickr for their buy/sell Lati group and Facebook also has one. I bought my first Lati, a Lea, from someone from Flickr (she's my avatar). Be aware of the problem with recasts, which is a whole new issue. On here it is often possible to track ownership of the doll, via the waiting rooms, box opening and Flickr pics, but you do need to make sure you're buying a genuine Latidoll and not a recast. Of course you may want brand new, in which case you need a hefty dose of patience. Also be aware that older dolls 'normal' is very different from recent 'normal', which has got paler and paler to be almost white. I really hope Lati amend this for future orders. The tan is a lovely colour at the moment and can only be got from limited editions.

Oh wow- that's a bit crazy! I knew the wait times would be quite long but that's a bit much. I would probably still order one but I'm sure I wouldn't have the patience to wait until buying another. I'm sure I can find something in the Marketplace later to keep me occupied until I can get a new doll

I'm glad the 16cm size is the most popular because that's the one I like the most. I have already been looking and marking favorite clothes on etsy- I'm glad to know those are probably all the correct size for the dolls I'll be buying. I've been afraid of getting a recast, especially for my very first doll since I have never held a BJD in person and probably wouldn't know the difference without help from more experienced collectors. Thank you for the info on coloring- I have seen some gorgeous white dolls but I do prefer more natural looking skin tones. I'm creating a Flickr account now and I'll be searching for groups on Facebook as well!

Does anyone know how often lati doll has new items available? I really would like to get one after seeing how cute the dolls are.

 

I fell in love with the Lati yellow in February- and ordered one (who has not arrived yet) but found two beautiful little girls in the marketplace here. I am so happy I bought them as the wait is Super looong otherwise and both experiences were wonderful- both arrived quickly, in perfect condition.

Spoiledshells Welcome to the wonderful world of Lati! The waiting period for a Lati directly from LatiDoll long but we have each other to make it better! And there's always the secondary market including the Lati-specific one on Flickr, Lati Market on Facebook, and of course the massive market here on DoA among others. So if you don't want to wait that long (Unless you're forced to with a new limited release..all which tug at my heartstrings. Every. Single. Time. Ever. ) for the pre-order period to open and then endure the lengthy wait after that, there's always other options.

 

Thank you Wintryabyss I'm sure I will be too tempted to order future limited releases but I'm already wanting to buy SO MANY gorgeous dolls! It will definitely be hard to wait long for one directly from Lati but I have a feeling I'll be buying some second hand dolls to keep me occupied while I'm waiting! Lea is still my favorite from the pictures I have seen but there are a few others I'd love to purchase as well. Looks like I'll be keeping busy with this new addiction!

 

they don't have specific times, but there is always lots of buzz here on the thread when they announce a new edition is opening so just stay tuned. for other options for a second hand doll, just look through the last page or two since we've just been talking about that

I really like the SP size a lot, but it's hard to find clothes and shoes for it, so I have more of the regular LY size dolls. You can find lots of clothes for them. Here is a picture of the size difference:

 

After being away for a few weeks it's no nice to catch up. There are such lovely pictures here and I'm so happy about the new arrivals.

Lati yellow is my favorite but I just love my sp Lea too.

Edit: OMG I just checked my shipping notice and my B and the B Sissi and Belle already arrive in the Netherlands. I did not know they were shipped. Can't wait to find out what head I received.

 

periwinklestars Same, I love the SP size! The make such a perfect big sister as demonstrated by your beautiful Lea. I found that a lot of Pullip and Blythe clothes are perfect for SP. When I discovered this, I was so relieved as I had an army of Pullips/Blythes in the past. The only issue is finding clothing that's child-like as Pullip clothing in specific seems to be more designed toward teenage/adult-looking fashion styles.

Lillyroos Lovely to have you back! Your SP Lea is gorgeous. Bat Child Lea has one of the best full stocks that Lati has ever done in my opinion.

 

Hi, everyone! I lurk in this thread often but don't post because my girls are SPs but I got this little Lumi Hoping to use her head on an SP body. It didn't 't match - she is too dark - but I find myself liking her. Her head is smaller than the Lea I had so she looks more in proportion on the smaller body to me. Are there any other sculpts with the smaller head?

 

Oh wow- thanks for the picture reference!! I can definitely see finding clothes for SP being a problem because I haven't seen too many outfits in the basic size that I absolutely love (besides on the Latidoll website and etsy). I don't think I'll purchase outfits from Latidoll until I order a doll from them.. I may pick up a few different ones if they aren't sold out lol! I'm also having a hard time finding wigs... it's tough to picture what they will look like when most wigs aren't shown on a Yellow sized body

Minigrace Hooray for SPs! Lumi sculpt has the sweetest smile and her faceup makes her even sweeter. For smaller Lati heads of the sculpts I own/owned, the smallest head is Cookie by a lot. Her head is much smaller than Lumi's. I always thought Lumi's head size was average in comparison to the other Lati Yellows whereas Lea's head was one of the biggest, if not the biggest. From what I've seen, Sissi also shares as large of a head size.

 

WinterAbyss hey, thanks for the info! That explains a lot! Lea does seem to have a much larger head. And Cookie has a smaller head even than Lumi? Uh oh now I will want a Cookie. In the mean while I guess Lumi is going to stay. She will need new eyes and a decent wig though!

 

Are there any places you guys recommend for wigs? I've been looking all over and I can't seem to make up my mind. It's hard to tell about quality from pictures.. In particular, I'm looking for a pretty blonde wig with either straight bangs or side swept bangs. I'll have it ready for whenever I buy my Lea!

 

i didn't know the head size varied? i guess i'm use to pukifees where they change the faceplate but the head back is the same for them all and just assumed the lati yellows all had the same head size too...

 

auntbear Each head size varies a bit, some more than others. It mostly has to do with the face shapes, some of the heads have shorter faces than others too and don't look as good with SP size body as a result, imo. They all fit the 5-6 wig size but my Cookie needs a little extra something versus the other sculpts to have the wig fit correctly. Lea has a bit larger of a head than my others, I think her head also appears larger due to her face shape.

Spoiledshells I highly recommend For My Doll or Luts for wigs; both have a wide range of styles and the wigs are soft. My only 'bad' experience with wigs offered in Lati Yellow size was Leeke. I've ordered several Leeke wigs and every time, the wigs are full of short filler hairs and the fiber doesn't feel as soft. This seems to only apply to their Lati Yellow size as I've never had an issue with Leeke for MSD and SD size. I also love the wigs sold directly from Lati.

 

jpop monique wigs are also lovely and soft, i've never had a bad wig from them

Oh I love my Sps and can't wait to have a ton of outfits for them but I only have a few right now. However I just recently got two formydoll wigs and they really are awesome! Here's my set of three, blue wig is Lati and the teal and plum are formydoll wigs:

Has anyone has faceup issues from lati? I got this girl secondhand and am for certain the shipping isn't to blame. There is kind of a milky white blotch under her eye. It almost looks as if the MSC didn't adhere and its only visible at a certain angle I don't want to send her back, but I'm afraid to keep her with a blemish like that

I'd definitely send Lati a picture. Looks like the Msc has caused that splotch and hopefully they will fix it.

Minigrace Your Lumi is gorgeous!

I love jpopDolls wigs. My Miel is wearing one and I think they are gorgeous wigs lovely, soft and so well made. Unfortunately I don't have any other experience considering the wigs but I have seen gorgeous wigs from For My Doll.


Hawkingsfam8 My Monster House Coco also had a face up problem. It was a tiny blotch on her cheek and also only noticeable at a certain angle and in a certain light. It looked like they used to much sealant. Even though is was really tiny Lati replaced it with a new perfect head. I would contact the seller and ask if she can ask Lati to fix the face up problem. It's at least worth the try.

 

Sorry, I can't help you with your blemish problem, but I'll just like to ask: What sculpt is she? She is a real cutie!

Is it weird that I still cant tell the Lati sculpts apart? D:

 

I have several instagram and flickr contacts with LY where the faceup sealant went cloudy and flaked off. Since they had direct purchases most sent them back to Lati to be redone, if you bought her second-hand I don't know if they'd deal with it. I've really only heard this about the Yellows!

 

Now that I think of it, I've viewed several posts about Lati Yellows with sealant flaking off shortly after being sent from LatiDoll, or perhaps the blemish wasn't noticed until later by the owner. I believe I saw pictures of this with Bat Children and Olympos releases. The owners either ended up sending back to LatiDoll to be fixed or had the doll's faceup removed and customized by another artist. Not sure how LatiDoll would handle it now because Olympos dolls were all sent out a while ago, I think?

No it's not weird- I'm still very new to learning about the different sculpts and I have a hard time telling them apart!! Of course, there are some that are easier than others to spot in my opinion. I feel weird because sometimes I have to look at Lati's site to compare faces to know which doll I'm looking at LOL!

 

I contacted lati and since I'm not the original owner it's pretty much a loss. I really don't want to send her back to her former owner as I love her, but I guess I have no choice

 

Looking at your picture, it doesn't look like there's much blushing or painted parts of the faceup where the sealant is flaking, so if you don't want to have the head repainted, which is what I would do as I much prefer custom faceups, you could tape off with masking tape and cover all of the parts of the face around the flaking, and then carefully remove the flaking with a magic eraser sponge or a q tip dipped in Windsor and Newton brush clearner, and then respray the cleaned area with sealer. It's not permanent damage, but sometimes sealer can flake or have a bad reaction to heat or humidity, which leads to the flaking, so there are ways to get around it.

Hawkinsfam8 You can ask the original owner if she can contact Lati. I think you have a better chance then. If Lati asks for the head back you can ship her straight to Lati yourself. The original owner wil get back the shipping cost in points though but you can ask her if she can pay you back for shipping.

Lillyroos I asked the original owner and she said that she thinks its too risky sending it back to Lati and that she didn't notice the blemish so she'd just keep it. I got it off ebay so I can kind of understand as it might take a while with Lati. She is being very good about it, but I'm just sad as I really want to keep her, but I don't want to eventually get a new faceup later as I love her makeup . Thank you for all your help

 

I'd personally keep her either as she is, or get her fixed, or get a new faceup (something similar as you like this faceup), rather than send her back to Lati.

 

Hawkinsfam8 You're welcome. I just thought I let you know. When I sent my Coco head back Lati sent a new one really fast. From me sending it to Lati and Lati sending one back only took two weeks total. They were very nice and answered my emails fast. They also refunded the shipping cost without me having to ask for it.
I first wrote them on the QandA after which they gave me their email address to sent the picture of the face up from that point on all the communication was using their email address. I was really happy about it all and do believe their customer service has improved so much. Even their English has improved.
But I do understand your decision to keep her. I hope it turns out ok for you Sunny is so lovely.

 

Hawkinsfam8- I'm sorry you're having problems with your beautiful Sunny. I do love that faceup and can see your dilemma. Maybe you can ask someone who does custom faceups if they can fix the area? It looks as though it's a spot without any paint- just the sealant flaking off? I bet if you find the right person they could fix her easily for you!

 

Hawkinsfam8 Kim is right about being able to fix it by removing the flaking then resealing with MSC if there's not much blush on that area. I've actually done this with several dolls over the years and I've never had an issue. One of my Latis had flaking earlier this year like how you show. Only her flaking was brought about by faceplanting into a marble table during a photoshoot, it flaked the sealant on her nose. I just removed the flakes and resealed, wasn't a problem - the scariest part is mustering up the courage to do it in the first place but it isn't bad at all. Definitely a good suggestion if you'd like to keep her with her faceup intact.

unfortunately resealing her will probably make the sparkle effect less if not make it disappear completely wherever you spray.

 

Hawkinsfam8 I had this flaking issue described with my Bat Child Noa whose faceup shows the sparkly effect Lati has added to their faceups within the last year or so. After removing her nose's damaged MSC, I covered her lips so they wouldn't lose their gloss with the matte MSC (Any shiny bits of the faceup that you don't want affected will need to be covered.) then re-sealed once. I didn't lose the sparkles entirely but they did become fainter. There's no sign of any previous MSC damage and although scary, glad that she's damage-free now as I felt so bad about her falling down on the table. Just an option to consider if you choose to keep her.

I think there was a time when Lati mentioned that they had gotten seriously delayed by the humidity in their region... and it was affecting their faceup processing time (because you shouldn't seal faceups in humid conditions, or you can get frosting or flaking).

I saw the cloudy faceups on a few of the Bat Children, and the editions around that one. I wonder if it was something similar that happened with some of the Olympos dolls.

If you want to re-add the sparkles, Hawkinsfam8, seal her first... then you can dust her lightly with Volks shimmer (in whichever shimmer shade matches the original sparkles the closest). Or you can find PearlEx powders at your local craft store, and lightly dust her with whichever powder matches her faceup the nicest.

I love the sparkles, too. I miss the days when Lati would dump a bucket of sparkles on each one. I think I was in the minority on that one... for me: the more sparkles, the better.

On a side note: I'm still eagerly awaiting a tracking number from Lati for my BatB Latis... I wonder if Jia might be the one causing delays, this time. I've only seen one Jia on Flickr so far, and she belonged to someone who attended Dollism and visited the HK Lati booth in person. Jia is the only sculpt that I can't find in any at-home photos (outside of Asia). The other sculpts in my order have all made their appearances on Flickr. I can't wait until I get the notice from Lati.
