Lati Yellow Discussion Part 26

My Lati G.Yuri arrived yesterday!

I ordered and received her within just 1 month!! That was insanely fast.

I was caught a little off guard by her resin color, however. Above is an interesting color comparison for those of you thinking about ordering a Lati doll with a "normal" resin color. The Sunny to the left is a NS Basic from 2017, and the G. Yuri to the right is a NS Basic from Feb 2021. Quite a big difference!

I've decided that I am going to sell this G. Yuri, and reorder her in WS or PW (if they offer it). This new NS is still quite lovely and has a very cheerful summery glow, but it wasn't what I was looking for.

 

I find her perfect and lovely and exactly what I would be looking for how sad you don’t like the new normal skin! As someone who is terrified and paranoid of yellowing I love it because I feel like it would take a looong time to notice any difference in such a dark peach color

 

Wow that’s a huge difference. I haven’t purchased a Lati doll since...2008? I love the lighter skin color. Still can’t believe it changed so much.

 

Yeah, I was very surprised when I opened the box. :/ Honestly, I think their new Peach White skin color is what the old "normal" resin was, and the new "normal" resin is now much more of a peachy tan.

I mean, I understand why they'd change the skin tone. Most of their customers are in Thailand, so maybe peachy tan is more popular there? It almost looks like a spray tan though, not a natural tan, so that’s kind of confusing. It would've been nice if they had shown more accurate pictures on their website though.

 

Yeah I don't like that normal skin, it's so orange and tan. I like very paper-white, slightly yellowish dolls. I think Lati is trying to appeal to more western customers, which tend to like darker/orange/pinky skin tones. I'm worried because I really like some of their sculpts but worry that they will stop offering white skin or will change their white skin. They totally changed their makeup too. I think their old makeup was better, but now a lot of their new makeup looks are so heavy/western and not the cute style.

 

Did you order from Lati or a dealer?

 

I ordered directly from Lati. I’m kind of wondering if maybe they accidentally sent me a tan doll?? I’ve been looking at pictures of tan Latis, and I’m realizing that my G. Yuri looks closer to them. But she's really orange?

I also looked up other Latis on Instagram, and I've noticed some others with this kind of orange-y coloring. So I know mine isn't a one-off.

 

She’s not tan, that’s the normal color for them now. All of my normal skin dolls that were made in 2018 and on look exactly the same

 

I’ll have figure out the Lati site, every time I look all the Lati Yellow say sold out

 

Oh, yeah, you’ll have to submit a request in their Q&A so they can make you a private sale. That’s how I ordered my G. Yuri. I think you could email them too?

Just be very specific when you ask. I asked them if I could purchase a “Lati Yellow Basic G. Yuri in Normal skin with makeup” and they said yes, and included a link to a private SKU for me, which I put in my cart, and checked out and paid with PayPal.

I think the availability of the doll depends on what they actually have in stock right now, too. My doll was sent to me within a month of ordering, which leads me to believe that it was one they already had in storage, because casting a doll and giving it a face up usually takes a couple months. So, depending on what they have in stock, you may or may not be able to purchase the doll you want. It doesn’t hurt to ask, though!

That’s good to know! Does the bright color mellow over time? Or would a few sprays of MSC soften it? I don’t mind the darker resin tones at all (I have olive toned skin irl ) but the vivid orange color really threw me off, lol. I wish it were just a little more muted in saturation.

 

I think they get a little softer but not very much.
Here is a comparison between peach white and normal. It was hard for me to capture the peach white. It's not paper white but it has a slight pink tone in real life

I emailed them about purchasing 4 basic sculpts in white skin and they said they have no set plan to release them. Did I do something wrong?

 

Aww that's the lati white? I'm pretty sad about that because I like very white, or slighly yellowish white. I really don't like pinky or peachy skin dolls.

 

Is the peach white a new shade? The old white was rather like cream, not paper white either. It was not much different from Lati's normal skin, it is actually a bit hard to tell the difference from old dolls as they all have yellowed a bit.

No, I don’t think you did anything wrong. Maybe they just didn’t have those sculpts in stock? I was mentioning earlier that I thought that maybe they were happy to sell me my G. Yuri because she was might have been one they already had in stock, ready to go.

 

It’s the peach white. They have regular white too

Aww how cute!! Especially sunny, she has such a nice skin color. That is pretty weird, both is normal skin and look totally different..

 

It’s a cool toned white I think it’s better to prevent yellowing or something but I guess people prefer yellow from the start

 

I ordered Basic Mina from Doll Peddlar!

 

Yay!! Congrats! Mina is one of my favorites - such a sweet sculpt. Is this your first Lati doll? I ordered my Sunny (my first Lati) from Doll Peddlar too.

 

Yes, she will be my first bjd if she arrives before my iplehouse I ordered last month

 

I ordered one a few months ago in tan skin. I hope it isn’t a disaster in person. It doesn’t look bad in photos.

 

Oh, I’m sure it’ll look lovely! I think it was just the NS that was a little unexpectedly... orange, lol.

 

Is anyone ordering from the new collection? The fantasy skin colors are so amazing... I just have to get the pink Chloe.. I wanted to dye my peach white Chloe pink but i was too scared, so i feel like this Chloe was made just for me

 

No they are not for me but I will admit they are so cute, right? It's perfect timing that they released Chloe in pink for you then.

Just waiting for them to release basic dolls for the sculpts I want in white skin.. Hopefully it's not long but I am starting to lose hope

Hopefully, with enough people asking about Basics, they'll feel pressured to finally open up orders again!

It's strange that they didn't have what you wanted available in WS - I just ordered another G.Yuri (but in WS this time). Which sculpts are you wanting? I wonder if maybe they're very popular sculpts that are sold out, or if they're discontinued sculpts? It seems that they're only selling Basics if they already have them in stock, and don't have to cast new ones.

 

I love the new fantasy color but lol no money and I am more pickier now. Some of the ones I like I already have the sculpt in normal skin or other skin color. I don't want to buy same mold doll anymore. What I really want from Lati is to open basic line and give us fantasy color to choose. There is some other lati yellow sculpt I don't have and want it in fantasy color.

 

White skin for Lati yellow Ari, Lati white Yuri, Lati white Belle, Lati white Lily

Their email made no sense grammatically but I think they said that those sculpts are available, but not in white skin. They also take a month to reply to an email

 

Oh no! If email is taking more than a day or two to get a response, you could try their Q&A board on the website. I find that I can reliably get a response usually once every weekday there. I also noticed that they have a little difficulty with English; even when I was very concise and clear, there was still some confusion.

 

I've never been a fan of Lati as a company because they confuse the living hell out of me. My SO however has several of their babies and they really are so sugary sweet. That got me super curious to the point that I'm actually considering getting a Lati Yellow for myself. Are there any European dealers available per chance?

If not I'm sure to be bound to the secondhand market, is there a guideline on pricing for these little ones? It seems their prices are all over the place. I'm certain that I want a tan or darker skin color to change thing up for once. I believe those are usually restricted to full-sets/limited editions and thus more expensive?

Lastly, is there a list of available sculpts for the Lati Yellow Line or do I have to go through all the editions on the Lati website itself? Not that I mind but if there is an easier way...

I've been reading through the threads and all your little ones seems so lovely and cared for. I can't wait to see more of them.

 

I received Mina Saturday and she will sadly be left in her box until I receive clothes and wigs I ordered. The doll was found in the US but everything else is overseas so I was not prepared. She is my first bjd, I have an iplehouse bid on order before I bought Mina but that will be a couple more months.

My first impression, completely in love!! Second thoughts, why have I waited this long to get into bjd? I love everything about them and I’m excited to get her dressed and photographed soon.

 

Lati Yellows are my absolute favorite BJDs. Unfortunately there are no European dealers. If you are willing to order from the USA, you could try Doll Peddlar The prices of second hand Latis vary a lot and I'm not always sure what determines the price except rarity. Tan skin Latis are limited editions though not always full sets. As to list of all sculpts, the page of basic Yellows on the Lati site is probably easier to go through than all the limited editions. ::: LATIDOLL :::

 

Doll peddlar has clothes and wigs! They carry Ylang garden clothes which are my favorite.

Also you inspired me to order a mina also ​

 

I did find a couple things from doll peddlar but not a full outfit, I have something particular in mind and I’m working on it with a seamstress overseas so it will take time. I already want to buy another one!

I found some preloved little ones that tick all the boxes but I keep waffling over the decision. Funny how I stressed less about my Pukifee and Tiny Delf. It must be that Lati just has so many adorable face sculpts. I don't think I encountered any yet that I'd give a hard pass on.

 

@Siara Since I’m too new at DoA I’m not able to access marketplace yet so my choices were limited and the only second hand ones I saw anywhere else were more expensive than new. That also limited my choices which made it easier.

 

@NineOneThree I too can confirm that most second-hand Lati (even basics) are more expensive than getting them new. I'm pretty sure their horrendous waiting times are the culprit. Personally I'd order new in a heartbeat if I didn't have to consider a customs fee. Waiting I can handle, generating extra coins I can not.

Great choice you made though, Mina is adorable. Maybe it's a blessing in disguise that your choice was limited. How are you finding their posing?

 

@Siara That’s too bad, I got her new in the US within a week for the same price as buying direct. It makes me want to order another already.

Edited to add: This is my first bjd so I don’t have anything to compare her to on posing besides off topic dolls that don’t compare at all. I love how fun bjd are to pose, it’s one of the reasons I’m so happy that I finally bought one.

 

I have a question for anyone who already has Lati Yellow. Maybe it will help me decide on my next one or help others decide on their first one. What sculpt is your favorite and why?

 

My favorite is Hana. My old Hana is in my profile pic. I love her cute button nose and pouty lips! I don’t have any Hana right now because I thought I was going to leave the hobby

As I don't own any Lati myself yet it's hard to tell which are my favorites. My SO has some Lati however and the favorite out of his bunch is without a doubt Kuroo. In general I like sculpts with a peaceful expression but it usually depends on the style and character I want to explore with them.

 

I love Sunny (she's the one in my profile pic), because of her big puppy-dog eyes. I also love G.Yuri, for her full lips and little nose.

That said, you should go for what you feel most drawn to! ^_^ Sometimes what I like to do when I’m not sure about a sculpt is to look up owner pictures. They can look SO different than company photos, especially with custom faceups! It can be fun to lose time clicking through all those Flickr albums too, lol.

 

I love to hear which ones other people like, it makes me consider a second look at ones I previously might not have. I look at Flickr, Instagram, and Pinterest for owner photos, it’s how I decided on my first two purchases.

 

It's hard to choose, but I think my favorite molds are Miel, Benny, Laches, Haru and Sophie. I can't give any reason why, they just are too cute!

I figured out which sculpt I’d like to get next but I’m not sure if I’ll ever find her for sale. It’s Berry, she’s a basic on the Lati site but I still have not tried messaging them to see if she will be available again.
