Hello, I'm Lemon! I've been a BJD fan for YEARS, but it wasn't until recently that I finally gotten 2 bjds ! They're 'Nicole' and 'Francis' from Mystic Kids. (Names are in quotes since I haven't decided on a new name for them (⌒_⌒ if I can find a new name for them). I also like to do toy/doll photography and want to get better (ღ˘⌣˘ღ)!
welcome welcome to the forum. do you have any photography projects planned for when you receive your dolls?
Nothing creative, maybe just a general photoshoot so I can get used to posing them (lol). Both dolls are MSD and im more used to working on monster high and nendoroid. Im note sure if I want to take them outside or invest in a photo box -w-
Hi welcome ! I totally understand the urge to change the name of your dolls Hope you can find the perfect name !
taking them outside is doable with caution. i would recommend your or a friend’s garden if possible, as it reduces human traffic. that said, i find recycling thrift shop shelving or wooden boxes into a doll environment for photographs very useful. attaching dried moss to it with glue can be very striking, though make sure it is from a sustainable source. do post any photoshoots you take here! it is always fascinating to see how the dolls are brought to life by their photographers.
I have a few locations in mind for the aesthetic i want (dark forest/spooky circus vibe). I'll keep an eye out for wooden boxes at the thrift! i get lucky sometimes with Monster High furniture, so hopefully I can get lucky with some 1/4 scale items ! Do you have any tips on how to get the doll to stand up or ways to make a stand for them? I'm not sure if they were strung too tight or if thats how normally strung the dolls are, but they tend to bend inwards when I try to pose the TwT.
Welcome to DoA! Sometimes all you need is just a stick you can find in a park or garden. But if that's not enough I use doll stands from Alice's Collections, Etsy or a custom made one.
