Hello! Any Labubu lovers around? I loved these monsters at first sight. I have a few popping around my doll shelf. Do you have a big collection?
I wish I could own one, but every time I want one, they are all sold out on Amazon official Pop Mart store. I want one of the plushies, not the figures. I own two of their other licensed figures, but I don't really find those impressive for the cost (I have a Sasuke Uchiha "Naruto" X Pop Mart collab, and a figure of the series 1 Hirono "The Other One" releases). I find Labubu quite appealing, but I am into horror and used to collect plushies when I was younger -- I still get a few now and then, when they are based on anime or video games characters I love. I think one Labubu plush would be enough for me, but we'll see, if I am ever lucky to find any in stock on legit places that won't add too much on taxes for me. (:
Yes, I really like them and would love to have one of the plush, but am not going to actually look for one as it seems quite difficult to get a real one, sigh. I did get a secondhand figure that was broken and removed the head and put it on a 1/12 scale mjd body for my own 11cm sized Labubu. I will see if I can post a picture.
This is so funny to me because Iām in NYC for a concert tomorrow night and Iām going tomorrow morning to hopefully find myself one! There are a few stores around where Iām staying that have sold them so I hope Iāll have luck!
We are not allowed to discuss or even mention counterfeits of any kind, not even on this side of the forum. The only reason the mods haven't closed this side yet, is because most of us can self-moderate ourselves into not discussing, mentioning or saying about ownership of counterfeits of any sort, regardless of how we got them, or if we do own any. Just something to keep in mind, for those of us who do enjoy the Brigadoon section to stay opened here. Not trying to be a jerk, just trying to spread the word for those not aware, there is no discussion of counterfeits anywhere on DoA, for any reason. Ever! (:
They are SO CUTE! I love that so many people are showing their whimsical side. I like watching the hype more than anything. Every once in awhile Labubu shows as in stock on Pop Mart and Iām so tempted. Facebook constantly reminds me to check. Honestly, I just want a pink/peach one but I donāt think my odds are good enough to pay $40. I did order a SkullPanda plush. I love all of them so there is no problem there.
I finally got one She stole this capelet from my YoSDs and it fits her better than the Yos haha Baba by Jessicat P, on Flickr
I have developed a deep anthropological fascination with Labubus, specifically the culture around them and the pros and cons. I understand the criticism of blind box gambling as a vehicle for consumerism, and the resellers ruining the hobby, but there also seems to be the chorus of "but adults shouldn't play with toys!!!" that we're all so used to in the doll world. At the same time a lot of people seem to be playing with them in much the same way we play with our dolls- dressing them up, doing photoshoots, even taking them to work and goofing off on breaks with them. I wonder if having a toy like this gain mainstream popularity frees people from the social stigma of having a Little Friend, something I suspect more people want than would ever admit it. But I don't actually want one myself. So my friends are a bit confused as to why I talk about them so much!
Likewise to @~Suisei_Seki~ , I, too, am mostly fascinated with the culture they've spun around them. It's nice they've brought up collecting/toys/doll-related discussions in circles I didn't have them before, so I'm mostly enjoying getting to talk about tangential stuff to doll collecting with more friends! Who knows, maybe those critters will lure more people into bjds, too I don't think I'll be getting any but I've been considering having my MSD cosplay as one
@~Suisei_Seki~ Let me know if you do get in to serious studies about adults in public taking pictures of toys because I've several location trips with different dolls and currently have a toy dinosaur who has a photo blog of her adventures. The only time any of them was grabbed for was a special needs child with the dinosaur, otherwise I've been invited in to places before opening and behind scenes to get some angles so I can give first hand experience on how it can go. As for blind box stuff... My last adventures with cheat codes had me come home with the fourth version of something when I thought I was finally getting cookies, and the second of a random one was exactly the same as the first one I got because it was round two or a product I had previously been happy with and again had twins of :/ But that one I still feel okay getting because I have someone to trade with or I only charge them what I paid. On the reseller side for a some of the surprise balls I have gone that route to get the one piece I want/need but I also have a limit to what I'll pay. If it's a reasonable amount, which is in the eye of the beholder, I can see paying a bit for the convenience. It's on the buyer for what they chose to go in to debt for.
The cultural stuff around labubus is pretty cool to watch(although a lot of not cool stuff happening too) and it's nice to see toy collecting going mainstream. But for the life of me I don't see them as cute, I tried to get what other people see and I can't It's just like ok, I wouldn't have guessed there will so much hype around it, there are so much cuter blindboxes(to my eyes! it's totally subjective). I bet labubus looks being either hit or miss played into online discussion and got it even more popular.
I have a bunch! I was going to have just one (again, which is what I said about BJDs ahaha), but I donāt have that kind of restraint. My wife was able to get a couple for us off Popmart during the click wars (and pulled the HAS secret while she was at it), but mostly I buy the ones I want from collectors who are selling off duplicates while secret hunting. Iām not into the gambling part and Iāll pay a little more to get the one I want. I love watching people who arenāt usually doll people nerd out over clothing and accessorizing their Labubus. Her fans are overall pretty wholesome about it. She side quest got me into Skullpandas which are even more my jam, so my purse always has fluffy friends on it now.
Yes! As soon as I saw one, it reminded me of those monsters from that book āWere the wild things areā. Furbys and Gremlins(Mogwais) also came to my mind. I love all those little creatures so I had to get couple Labubus!
My dad gave me one as a gift last year. I think they are very cute and they remind me of my ferret. I want another one as a friend for my little guy but idk if I'll be able to get one as they now stopped selling them in PopMart in the UK
I never understood the Labubu craze until a friend let me hold theirs. It fits perfectly into my hand, it weighs so nice, the fur texture is so soft ... the feeling of carrying one is quite pleasant! I just want to keep squishing it! The ugly/cute effect is much more delightful in person than in pics. OK I get it now. Maybe I'll get one to have a pleasant fuzzy plushie squeezeball thing... maybe. And just one is enough
That is a really good point! I wasnāt going to get a BIE until my friend showed me hers in person and she was SO FLUFFY I wanted one of my own. Thereās definitely a cute fidget toy tactile aspect to them because I fiddle with them while theyāre hanging off my purse a lot.
I am now the proud owner of two Labubus, a Big Into Energy Happiness that I've affectionately named "Dreamsicle" and an Exciting Macaron in Green Grape that I plan to trade for a different color once it arrives. I don't plan on adding more after that, though, as I have quite enough collections without delving into new frontiers. One of my coworkers is secret hunting and has near-complete collections of each line. I am content to live vicariously through them!
Well, I've never even seen a Labubu in person, but I decided to try to get one, as longtime toy nerd (and designer) who's fascinated by their rise... boy howdy, it did not go well! Lol. I didn't expect it would, but read up and have experience with LE drops. No expectation to get one, certainly first try... but I actually DID get one carted, not really caring which color it was, and it wouldn't let me check out!! I have no idea why. Generic error message is kind of a worst case scenario, honestly, lost my motivation since it was hard/slow enough to cart one and it might just happen repeatedly. I guess that's one way to realize you probably won't own one, hah. I don't think my blood pressure could take that happening again! Though I did think the "Pop Now" system, and their drop system in general, is interesting. But guess it's back to living vicariously via cute photos...! On the bright side, somebody got the one I had carted, and THEY had a good night.
When I had a vacation in Hong Kong and Shenzhen back in April, I went all over Hong Kong and China trying to get a labubu (we went to like 7 Popmarts and were 5 people late for one of them) and after staring at it so much (because we needed to make sure not to accidentally buy a lafufu at the non-Popmart locations) it reminded me of my pet chihuahua and I found it endearing. lol I have 2. I have the green Have a Seat and the green Big into Energy. I want to sew some clothes for them but I haven't decided what. I desperately want the Fried Tempura Labubu and some of the Wackymart figures, but it's so hard to get my mitts on and my love does not extend to scalpers who want $75!
yes im obsessed! i have all the have a seats, macarons and big into energy except the secrets and then i finally got my first zimomo last week. i just got the shrimp tempura one off popmart had in cart and managed to snag it when it restocked. some of these pictured though are skullpanda, hirono, dimoo, hacipupu and puckyāim addicted to popmart! Spoiler: labubu pics
I had no intention of getting a labubu until I saw this cute outfit when I was looking for witchy outfits for one of my dolls and was like OH.... OH NO. Thus, may I introduce Matchacha! I love her so much, she's got so much gremlin energy and I need that in my life lol
also not sure if people still having trouble getting them but they tend to restock their site between 6pm-9pm PST. Not just for the timed released but in general. anyone also familiar with buying from xianyu can also get them pretty easily on resale. im apart of a discord that has a monitoring bot for online restock and instore pickup (dm for link, its open invite). also right now you can get wacky mart figures on stock x for way below retail. thats where i got mine, authentic too (issue is a bunch of resellers bought full sets now have to sell at a loss cause its not moving like regular labubu). tiktok lives are a good place too, although ive honestly had more luck and got majority from online restock or instore pickup.
My sister has good luck (she is the one who got my the Big into Energy) but I've never able to get stuff when Popmart restocks sdfjhgsdjfg My sister has all the luck. One of her labubu purchases got lost in transit so popmart gave her a refund and then it came in the mail a few weeks later so she basically got a free labubu Oooohhh I didn't know about Stock X. Thanks!
Sunday I tried to buy the same one in my cart for an hour, then missed out again in the web drop, so I caved at about 1AM and bought from a person with good feedback. I didn't think I could take the endless checkout errors anymore, and suspect either I or my internet is cursed, lol. There isn't a store even remotely near me, which is too bad, since they have a lot of other cute series I'd enjoy seeing in person!
There are 6 Labubu in my collection), three small and 3 38 cm in size. I really want a big 58 cm, but I can't buy it on the website yet, it's still not available for sale. Please share where you buy them, namely 58 cm larger ā¤ļø
I have two now and theyāre very fancy uwu Iāve been calling Baba Cinderella since she lost her left shoe though XD Baba & Hehe by Jessicat P, on Flickr
Impromptu/Accidental Labubu 'meetup' in the Fursonacon Dealer's Den! This past weekend at Fursonacon, a lot of the dealers had their little Labubu buddies hanging out and once we realized, we did a little photoshoot together! There was also a last minute full labubu meetup but I was unable to go TT__TT but they had a ton of fun and the photos were hilarious! I'll try and see if I can share some here too!
I think they're cute, especially when people really customize them but I don't quite get the hype and culture around them..And I hate blind boxes. I'm more of a Monchhichi person, which is sort of popular too I suppose.
I just placed an order for my first ever Labubu today! Iām so excited! I bought mine pre-opened, itās the Big Into Energy āHappinessā one. I plan on customizing her and making her clothes. And if I really enjoy her, Iāll buy some more Labubus! Iām so ready for these little gremlins to take over my life.
I got my BIE Serenity the same way and now I have two more (also confirmed styles) arriving soon! I made the rule to stick with only green or else I'm going to destroy my wallet with them lol. So MAC Green Grape and HAS Ququ will be joining their sister shortly! Matchacha watching me during work.
@SmoteyMote What size doll outfit is Matchacha wearing? It fits her so well, both in size and in style! Normally I make my own doll clothes, but I want to spoil my Labubu. Hehe.
the new Why So Serious series Labubu is really cute and the clothing looks pretty good quality too Like the opposite of how I have been hearing the alphabet series are a bit janky
I just wish it wasn't bundled with a bunch of non labubus. It's gonna make getting just the labubu ones so tricky. (Honestly, I just want the clothes so really I should just sit down and actually customize mine).
Yeah.... I'm not much of a fan of Molly or Twinkle Twinkle. Dimoo and Hachipupu are okay, but they don't scratch the same itch as Labubu on account of not being very gremlin and the higher box price is like....... in this economy?! I don't like gambling more then $20-something. More to add to my list of things to scour Hong Kong and MainlandChina for when I go in December.
I have been wanting a couple but I keep putting it off. I plan to eventually make one of my 1/8 bjd into Max from the book Where The Wild Things Are and I thought it would be cute to have a couple as the monsters.
Pff, a legit offering of Big Into Energy Labubus actually popped up for sale on Pop Mart's Amazon storefront, so I guess I'm getting a Labubu tootoo.
Seriously! Thank you!! Iāve wanted a Big Into Energy for a while now and just snagged one! @Gallye youāre amazing!
Just got my new Labubu from Amazon! I was kind of worried since a few of the reviews said their boxes had been ripped open but mine was fine.
I guess I'm that person now, reporting that the POP MART Amazon storefront has Exciting Macarons available: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CL6Q2BDG I was just trying to buy allergy meds but I guess I've been flagged as a sucker.
Oh, these guys! I've heard them spoken of but haven't seen them before. The discussion a page or so back about the whole Labubu phenomenon is interesting to me. It reminds me of the whole Cabbage Patch doll thing back when I was a child and how they were hard to get - people stood in line for hours. Personally, I find both the Cabbage Patch dolls and Labubu toys extremely unappealing, but then I also find many toys marketed for children, and many cartoons (Spongebob, etc.) to be hideous (almost purposely un-beautiful in a way I'm still trying to understand), so I'm a hard sell on this. I wonder how long the trend will last, and what the future effects (if any) will be. If adults actually do become more willing to "play" (create, narrate, explore, etc.) in a way that is not tied to productivity or profit, then I would consider that a positive impact on society. Especially in this era of AI "art," we need a renewed sense of art as the expression of the human soul, and a renewed freedom to create not to fill a functional role but to give life to the joys, sorrows, curiosities, etc. inside each of us. And "play" is an essential part of art in my opinion. Anywaaay -- I guess we'll see!
Welp, the blind-box spirits have decreed that I shall own nothing but green Labubus. Green it is! (I'd hoped for warm or neutral colors, but such is blind boxing.) I made them some little suspender skirts using this pattern and remnants from my stash - my old sewing machine does not like sewing at that scale, so my stitching is terrible, but I managed to shove along. And stab myself in the fingers a few times. As you do.
Ironically, I specifically chose having all green bubus! > Matchacha (Big Into Energy Serenity - The Witch) > Kukichacha (Pin for Love āLā - The Child) > Gyokuroro (Have a Seat QuQu - The Princess) > Tenchacha (Exciting Macaron Green Grape - The Professor)
Oh I didn't realize the Pin For Love ones were shorter (I am dumb with measurements). Now I kind of want one again xD I am also a green bubu collector. Though I currently want the shrimp headphone case and jester one. I hope I can find it in Hong Kong next month for less than US-based resellers.
Oh my gosh tiny bubu! I also thought they were the same basic size and I thought I was being careful to check all measurements before buying.
@SmoteyMote I love your green bubus. I think my favorite is the Witch. That silky hat is really pretty.
I was going to only buy Shrimpbubu in Hong Kong because the Why So Serious and Pin For Love reseller prices weren't as low as I wanted, but my aunt was like "Oh I will get this for you as an early Christmas present!" So now I have Shrimpbubu, Pin For Love V, and Juggling Clown Labubu. We gambled on one Why So Serious box and got a Lumino Feast. My aunt bought a fullset of Why So Serious to distribute to the cousins at Christmas for about $25 per box which is a lot cheaper than $42.99 in the US Popmart. The Why So Serious series definitely has some of the better manufacturing quality. One reseller wanted $100 US for Clown Labubu, but we went to another one that was like $60 US. Lower than the reseller prices online earlier this year, but looks like prices have taken a dip lately. I do prefer buying in-person so I can inspect them properly, especially since even some of the official ones are a bit janky, especially the pin for love series. I was scrutinizing everyone's shrimpbubu because the faux fur got smooshed badly on some of them. I was waffling on the Clown Labubu before my aunt said she would buy one for me. The lady running the shop knew what she was doing letting me hold it. XD like oh no I need it. I think everyone has too much labubu clothes now. It was about half the price they were back in March. Sino Center in Hong Kong (it's in Mongkok but also a short walk from Yau Ma Tei, these two subway stations are pretty close together) is a good stop for confirmed box buying. It is very cramped to walk around in and definitely good to ask around and do two loops around because the little shops sometimes have variations in prices and how much you can haggle. Shrimpbubu was the same at every shop with one, but Pin for Love and Why So Serious had like $3-$10 US price variation. My mom loves haggling while I am too shy and bad at speaking Cantonese.
I got a gift card from my secret Santa from work and was able to score a legit Sea Salt Coconut with a little outfit from my local mall! I was so close to just getting a one from a less than reputable source but the last store I went in had the one I wanted!
Sadly not my cup of tea. I learned that they exist few weeks ago. And didnt get excited to run & order one. See no use for them coz to me they like plush toys not bjd.
