Kyoto Dolpa 8 (March 13, 2011)

Jan 31, 2011

    1. *Waves *:D!!!!

    2. *hugs* XDDD How's everything going over there? Is Hime ready for the HTD?

    3. yes XD!...Poor me rushing pitch in hotel T-T....I'm supposed to enjoy my holidays!!

    4. Is there a link for the one-offs please. I would love to see Williams and Cyndy.

    5. I am getting sooo excited! Only a few days to go! That Cyndi is so beautiful... but one-offs are only for people who go to Dolpa. I can't wait to enter for Gretel. She is just so perfect for me. Almost like a young Daria! :fangirl:

    6. Rikka_Mika thanks for the link. They are gorgeous and I love the outfits on all of them.

    7. I love the cake outfit on the one-off swd Suzuna. A momoko boy is intersting ever would have thought of that.

    8. When Bianka and Rose were released, me and rkold were tempted to get another Bianka and make it a boy. I love the sculpt and it really has a great nose for a boy. I find it interesting they're saying the sculpt is Momoko instead of Bianka or Rose.

I always wonder why they choose a particular sculpt name over another, why some one offs are Anais and some are Tae etc, etc. Though with Anais, I wonder if it has something to do with Kyon leaving Volks.

    9. The Momoko one-off is so cute. I've thought the sculpt would make a cool boy myself before (do I need triplets?*_*)
I Like Williams and Cyndy's style too.

The front page of VolksUSA right now.... Hansel!!! Stop looking at me like that!!!
Stop giving me that "Aren't I cute? You know you want to put in for the lottery even though you'll barely have enough $ and you already have 3 other dolls on your wishlist before me?"
      Must resist :whee:

    10. Well not unless you buy them off of YJ! I have gotten two one offs from there. ;)

    11. And I wonder how much you have paid for them. XDDD

    12. Frans you crack me up!!!

    13. Carnmen171: Yes, I know! But I mean for us mere mortals....

    14. Momoko is very cute! Williams is a little strange looking lol....I guess it is a SD13 head because it's on SD13 body. I'm surprised that Volks still use Williams for one-offs I thought they'd stop using him now because there has been so many releases of him now (they use him for almost every DP as one-off)

    15. Actually, One-offs don't necessarily jump in price on Y!J, and Dollyteria often sells them quite reasonably. It's just that not that many owners let go easily of something relatively hard to get a hold of -- depending on what it is. They actually put out One-offs every month at Sumikas and Sato, and for any sort of special event. Every month there's some Sumika with a leftover One-off or two after the release date.

Certain sculpts show up all the time, and SD13 Williams is still pretty rare. I swear for a while K. Mayura had a crate of Heath heads sitting around :sweat. Lately she's shifted to Williams. The Dolpas I've been to, Williams, Heath, Maki, Shinku, Crystal, Cecile, Michele, and Kouya were pretty regular One-offs.

    16. Yes it is possible to find one off with reasonable prices on YJ if one looks hard enough (or hang around YJ too long) LOL

K Mayura's face up on recent Williams and Cecil one off has been gorgeous.

    17. LOL! But both my one offs were priced very reasonably. It is true what Anavel says above.

    18. XDDD;; Ah, I see...

    19. Right now at work debating which Volks resin kids will come with me to dolpa...

Should I bring my F10 girl and my One -off Tony (both have kind of matching purple outfits that would be awesome to show off),

My F26 (in purple but not so matching) and the Tony, or

My Hijikata, Jan, who needs to shop for stuff like shoes and eyes and a better wig, plus my Yo-Kira?

I only have one doll tote that will hold 2 SD13 size or one SD17 and 2 arms, or I'd bring everyone I haven't shipped home yet.

    20. Lyrajean- I would vote for Tony and the F-26, they are the ones other owners will not have had much chance to see in person, as a one-off and the Seirei :) I always appreciate getting the chance to see something a bit more rare that I might not have otherwise gotten to see. Have fun!

    21. Everyday I check my email to see if Kerbey Lane has sent me good news! So far, nothing. I hope it's soon, I am dying over here!

    22. Wrong thread.

    23. Kyoto, Dolpa here I come!... Whoot!

    24. Will the Dolpa take place even after the earthquake in JP?

    25. This is horrible. The news footage is catastrophic. Osaka seems to have felt shocks but so far not the damage in Northern Japan. I hope the mods might put up a thread where people can report on their safety?

    26. I saw it too. Please be safe everyone T_T

    27. Kyoto's too far south to be in direct danger from this one, so I'm not sure they'd cancel it over that.

But I know people who live in Tokyo and Chiba, so I'm freaking out a bit here.

    28. Yes, is really awful....earthquake plus tsunami... :( poor people!

    29. Maybe you could you Google Person Finder?
      http://japan.person-finder.appspot.com/?lang=en

    30. Thanks, I did try that, but got no hits. I'd imagine those types of things are going to be hard to update with cellphones down in Japan and everybody stuck downtown.

While I don't see HT Dolpa necessarily getting cancelled, I do wonder about Dolpa 25 and the Sendai Dolpa.

    31. Wow! This is really horrible. :(

    32. i don't think they'll cancel the Dolpa. But vendors and attendees coming from northern Japan may have a hard time getting to the Dolpa because some major train lines in the area will no doubt have suffered enough damage to warrant train services temporarily cancelled and/or shut down completely until the necessary repairs to the tracks are done. Plus there are sure to be aftershocks in & around the epicenter in the coming days.

    33. Wonder how they'll fix the lottery situation, I mean, if someone who won the lottery for Una isn't able to go...how they'll solve the situation?

    34. I found this on the volks members dollfie blog site, roughly translated it reads...

      To our national ドルフィーファン
Earthquake was in the nation today, but
What did you think your safety.
      Now, we even Volks headquarters
      Amenities confirmation throughout the relationship.
Tomorrow, concerning the events of the day after tomorrow
      Confirmation authorised notice upon completion.
      Best wishes for your safety.
      Doll Design Department

    35. There is NO damage in Kyoto from the earthquake, and Kyoto is not near the coast. I don't know what Volks' plans are, but it's definitely not necessary to cancel. If it happens, I imagine attendance will be way down.

This is so terrible. Just unbelievable.

    36. Everyone always talked about the big one coming, but you never think it'll actually come.

That blog entry mentioned they've yet to confirm all their people across Japan are safe, which might also affect what they do.

    37. I'm still stuck in Ikebukuro here D:
was supposed to travel down to Kyoto today >_<
The quake just came so suddenly that I thought it's my head spinning and eyes doing tricks.....

      Really terrible D:

    38. I feel so sorry for everyone T_T Please be safe.. I just heard the news from a friend.. extremely shocked and saddened..

    39. timid, that's a good point. They may not be able to bring their employees in to prepare and staff the venue.

rhapsodies, I hope that you're ok! Please stay safe!

    40. Oh my goodness! That's horrible! *hugs all of Japan* :(

Maybe Volks will send the Uma's to people who couldn't make it? And re-release items from this in a later Dolpa?

    41. I have posted a question to the Mods asking whether there will be a specific thread to check up on people in Japan.

    42. Well... I emailed my friends and they seem to be doing okay. >.> One in Kyoto for the HTD and one in Fukui... rhapsodies in Tokyo is all right too, and she's with her sister... They can't go to Kyoto now, it seems. >.<

    43. They aren`t cancelling either events, so people in Tokyo dealers are being quite worried as they won`t be making it possibly.

    44. I know what you mean. Here in California, we often "joke" about the big one but if and when it finally hits it'll be beyond belief.

    45. saw the news :/ there may still be another quake hitting japan @[email protected]! now I'm stuck, should I proceed to Kyoto or remain as where I am or fly home asap= =...

    46. Volks just posted this on the US blog:

    47. I am so sorry you had to experience that but thankful you and yours are safe!!! xoxoxoxo

    48. My friends in Tokyo are fine too thank god!!!! I'm sorry that they cannot go to Kyoto, is it because of perhaps another impending quake, or transportation? Either way, I think thier safety should go first. This whole event is very sad. I hope everyone continues to be safe.

    49. It looks like the bullet trains are only just now starting up again in places where there was no big damage, but there are also massive power outages as well. I suspect the FIFTY or so aftershocks have kept things pretty quiet as well -- some of the aftershocks are pretty substantial earthquakes all on their own (7.1?? and it's an *aftershock*??) holy cow.

I'm so glad to know that things aren't as bad as they might have been in some areas but I grieve for Sendai. It's... just gone, in a lot of places.

    50. I wonder if the Sendai store was leveled, then.

I'm really, really glad to hear that all the Volks employees are accounted for, though!!

    51. You know, I kind of hope they do postpone the Dolpa. I think having a big event so soon after this disaster is a little bit in bad taste, and it'd be better were they to wait for the transportation links to be restored, at least to Tokyo and thereabouts.

    52. Well they did cancel the NY dolpa one time due to the swine flu (hardly anything this big)
I thought they would cancel for sure. But I guess all of the time and money spent by the very many vendors and the location and all the rest.. I bet allot of things have already been paid for.

    53. Have they given a date for the After Event for the clothing on the International website yet and I just missed it somewhere? Or has it not been announced?

    54. Rhapsodies, sorry you are stuck in tokyo, but glad you are safe. Would have liked to meet you.

I am in Kyoto and will be going tomorrow unless there is new word of cancellation. Everything is fine here. Though I imagine many guests and dealers from north of here will be unable to show.

If there is an update about dolpa r.e. a cancellation, will somebody kindly pm me please.

O.T. I am very upset about Sendai as it is one of my favorite places. I just saw the train to Matsushima, a beautiful place in a twisted muddy heap of rubble! -Ughhh...

    55. Sendai store is fairly fair inland as is downtown. and its very hilly. I doubt it.

    56. Safely reached kyoto >___<!!!

    57. I've just reached Kyoto x_x''
      rushed shinkansen today ....

    58. Thank god! Be safe and have a wonderful time! ^.^
