Knitting Knitting from the DoA archives: Top-down raglan sweater pattern for MSD

Dec 17, 2013

    1. Long, long ago, there were some wonderful patterns posted to the original DoA Yahoogroup, and then imported over to this forum when it got started. As DoA grew and servers changed, those patterns became harder and harder to find. My dear friend SillyDog and I made a project of saving the pattern archive, with the idea of someday adding it to the Wiki or some other part of the forum.

As we have time, we'll post those patterns so everyone can use them! Here's the fifth one; there's no name on the pattern, so thanks go to whichever generous member contributed it in 2004 or earlier.

Basic Pattern for mini raglan sleeve sweater

      Sport wt. yarn
size 1 and 2 knitting needles
      22 stitches =5 to 5.5 inches
      Markers and stitch savers

Cast on 22 stitches 1 needle size
Work ribbing pattern you like best for 3 rows

Work the next on 2 size needles:
      Row 1 knit 5 / 3 / 6 / 3 / 5 (slash indicates placement for markers)
      Row 2 purl 5/ 3 / 6 / 3 / 5
Row 3 knit row increasing before and after each marker.
      Row 4 purl

Repeat the last two rows until there are 15 stitches in the 5 stitch marker place (the first place in row one)

Sleeves: Place first 15 stitches on a holder, knit across sleeve, place remaining sts on holders. Don’t lose markers.

Alternate purl and knit rows until desired length is achieved.
Add the ribbing 3 rows and bind off.
Work second sleeve to match first

Place remaining stitches on needles. Attach yarn to left edge. Knit one row, joining front and back. Work in purl one row, knit one row to desired length. Work rib and bind off.
