This is done on fingering weight wool on 2.75 mm needles or UK size 12s shorthand WIP - work in pattern apparently every time i put 8 in brackets i end up with harry potter, so harry potter means 8 stitches remaining Front CO 28 1-8 K1 P1 9-43 Stockingette stitch 44a WIP 12 BO3 slip rest to holder 45a BO2 WIP (10) 46a WIP 47a BO2 wIP (8) 48a WIP BO 44b BO 3 WIP (12) 45b BO 2 WIP (10) 46b WIP 47b BO2 WIP (8) 48b WIP BO back CO 28 1-8 k1 p1 9-46 stockingette 46a bo4 wip 10 slip to holder 47a bo2 wip (8) 48a WIP BO 46b BO4 WIP 10 47b WIP BO2 48b WIP BO sleeves x2 CO24 1-40 stockingette reducing at row 5, 15, 25, 35 thus s1 k1 psso wip till 2 remain k2tog at the end of 40 you should have 14 stitches 40-45 k1 p1 BO
Arghh ... knitting pattern abbreviations ... I so wish for small patterns to be in English and not in abbreviations so that I can understand them. I realise this is a failing on my part but the above might as well be in Russian for all I can understand of most of it. For such small patterns isn't it possible to write it out without the abbreviations so that those of us less skilled might have a chance of knitting them?
In general, for knitting or crochet shorthand, if you just google "knitting [abbreviation]" (for example, "knitting psso"), you'll find explanations and tutorials. That's how I learned. But to get you started... CO = cast on K = knit P = purl WIP = work in pattern (but this is the one part I don't understand because I don't actually know what pattern they mean..) BO = bind off s = slip psso = pass slipped stitch over k2tog = knit two together the parts labeled a/b are because where it says "slip the rest to holder" it means you split the panel in two by working on only half the stitches and then when it's done you pick up the other half with a new thread, so rows 44-48 diverge into an "a" part and a "b" part.
A photo would be useful, I agree, of this long-sleeved, turtleneck pullover from 2007. As written, the finished turtleneck sweater would be pulled over a BJD's head, which I wouldn't attempt. There is not enough information in this pattern to finish the sweater without a lot of guesswork. I wish the pattern had included the height and brand of mini BJD and the gauge (sts/inch). The instructions for working the turtleneck section are missing. Still, I appreciate seraphim's sincere efforts to share a knitting pattern with the DoA community.
I can't find any pictures of the old one I made... I recently got some new extra-fine yarn, so maybe i'll try making another!
I just finished knitting this sweater ! It's not a turtleneck though, unless I misread the pattern ? I used 2.5mm needles. The sleeves ended up with 16 stitches at the end instead of 14, so maybe I understood the pattern wrongly. It fits well on slim MSDs. The sleeves were a little bit too long for my Melba (by La Compagnie des Radis), but that's because she has small shoulders.
