Knitting Knit - dress for 60cm girls

    1. Knitted dress for 60cm BJDs:
      "vicki in tn"

      Size 0 dpns, set of five
      Fingering weight sock yarn, roll off a small ball for working both sides of the front neckline area at the same time.

      Gauge: 10 st stitches= 1”, 12 rounds=1” in st st

      Starting at bottom of dress:
      Cast on 100, divide 25 sts onto each of 4 needles. join w/o twisting stitches

      Option 1: K2, P2 for ¼” to ½” (4 or 6 rnds)
      Option 2: Garter st for ¼” (4 rnds)
      Option 3: K2-4 rnds, then picot stitch to be hemmed after the dress is finished

      K in st st for 66 rounds (5 ½” or more rounds for length desired for skirt to waistline)

      Waist decrease, start working in rows, back and forth:
      Row 67: turn and Sl1, K, decreasing 8 sts (2 dec ea needle)
      Row 68 and all even rows: turn and Sl1, P
      Row 69: turn and Sl1, K, decreasing 8 sts (2 dec ea needle)
      Row 71: turn and Sl1, K, decreasing 4 sts (1 dec ea needle) **80 sts**
      Row 72: turn and Sl1, P
      Rows 73-92: turn and Sl1, K all odd rows. Turn and Sl1, P all even rows.

      Bust increase:
      Row 93: turn and Sl1, K, inc 1 st on each “back” needle, inc 3 st on each “front” needle
      (adds 8 sts) **88 sts**
      Row 94: turn and Sl1, P
      Row 95: turn and Sl1, K, inc 2 st on ea “back” needle, inc. 2 on ea “front” needle
      (adds 8 sts) **96 sts**
      Row 96: turn and Sl1, P
      Row 97: turn and Sl1, K, even on ea “back” needle, inc 2 on ea “front” needle
      (adds 4 sts) **100 sts**
      --- should have 23 sts on each “back” needle and 27 sts on each “front” needle—
      Row 98: turn and Sl1, P

      Armhole “split”:

      Row 1: turn and Sl1, K19 (back)
      --put last 3 sts from first needle and first 3 sts from 2nd needle on a holder or piece of yarn to work sleeve later— work first back section
      Row 2: turn and Sl1, P19



      Work each back section:
      Row 1 and all odd rows: turn and Sl1, K
      Row 2 and all even rows thru Row 18: turn and Sl1, P
      Row 19, 21, 23, 25: turn and Sl1, K dec-ing at neck edge only
      Row 20, 22, 24, 26: turn and Sl1, P
      Row 27—Bind off or keep live for joining with front later. (Your preference)

      For second “back” section--put last 3 sts from “front” part (on needle 3) and first 3 sts from last needle (needle 4) onto holder or piece of yarn to work second sleeve later—

      Join yarn after underarm “held” sts and rpt above instructions for other back section.


      Work front section:
      For front: skip underarm sts on “hold”: Sl1, K47 moving 3rd needle sts onto 2nd needle

      work front section, continuing from Row 99:
      Row1: sk underarm held sts, join to front, K across
      Row 2 and all even rows thru Row 104: (working on 48 sts): turn Sl1, P
      Row 3: turn and Sl1, K, dec-ing 1 st at each end of the front section and 1 st in the
      middle of the front. **45 sts**
      Row 5: turn and Sl1, K, dec-ing at each end **43 sts**
      Row 7: Rpt Row 103 **41sts**
      Rows 8-16: turn and Sl1, K all odd rows. Turn and Sl1, P all even rows.

      Split for neck front:
      **using 2 balls of yarn** working on 41 sts**

      Row 17: (using 1st ball) turn and Sl1, K15, put next 9 sts on holder or piece of yarn,
      (using 2nd ball) Sl1 K15
      Row 18 and all even rows thru row 28: turn and Sl1, P, skip 9 sts on hold, Sl1 P to end
      Row 19 and all odd rows thru row 27: turn and Sl1 K15, skip the 9 sts on holder, Sl1 K15 to end
      Row 29: Bind off or join with live sts from back shoulder
      (your choice of methods: sew, graft or 3-needle bind off)

      Back Flap:
      Using #4 crochet hook, join yarn in the top part of the back section, in the row just below the first decrease.
      Row 1: ch1, 29 sc, turn (working down to the bottom of the back opening)
      Row 2: ch1, sc in ea sc, turn (working up to where your first sc is)
      Row 3: ch1, sc in ea sc, do not turn (working down to the bottom opening), sl st along the bottom of the flap and 1 sl st in the Kst at the bottom of the opening.

      Sl St up the other side of the back opening.



      Neckline:
      PU 36 sts from the scs around the neckline w/3 needles (12, 12, 12 at the flap)
      Row 1: P
      Row 2, 3, 4, 5,6: K2, P2 rib
      Turn and bind off in K2, P2
      Sleeves:
      Put the (6) held underarm sts back onto a needle, PU 6 sts along armhole. w/2nd needle PU 12 sts around armhole, w/3rd needle PU 12 sts to meet at bottom of armhole. **36 sts**

      Wk in st st to desired length for sleeve, minus 1/3” (example has 18 rnds of st st= 1 ½ “)
      Wk K2, P2 rib for 4 rnds (1/3”)
      BO in K2/P2
      w/crochet hook in the last “open” loop, sl st in 1st st to join evenly.

      Work 2nd sleeve in the same pattern.

      Finishing:
      Weave in yarn ends inside dress
      Try on the dress and place the snaps up the back, placing the “flap” under the sl st side of the back opening for a smooth finish.

      let me know about any errors you might find-- I'm not a professional designer, I just wrote it down as I made the second dress.
      Also should be noted that I knit "leftie" so some of the shaping might have to be reversed for you abbie-normal righties. ;)
