Kitten Modifications [giving a BJD cat ears]

Jun 8, 2005

    1. So call me crazy, but I've always wanted my own little cat-boy.

Today my Apoxie sculpt came in and I set to work making my DOD Si a full fleged kitten!! It was waaay harder than I thought it would be and after three hosurs..I still will have to sand and add a little more apoxie her and there tofix it up a bit but so far so good right?

I'll post again with stage 2 tommrow. ^_^

    2. They are cute, but the one looks to be falling off a bit. You may want to try smoothing they a bit more before letting them dry, since sanding deep lines may cause them to crack. They are going to be soooo cute once your done! Oh! You may also want to flip the picture on your computer sevral diffrent ways to help check the symmetry.

Good luck! I cant wait to see more! :chibi

    3. I know thw one looks like its falling off. the apoxie got too hard and I souldn't smooth it out any more, what I will end up doing is tommrow take some more apoxie and fill in the holes. not to mention sand them so they are a little more even... I have a long, long way to go.

Thanks for the imput though, and im glad you like them so far! ^_^

    4. How is the apoxie to work woth btw? I havent triend it yet!

    5. apoxie is pretty easy to work with, its a little like ticky-tac at first but after an hour it hardns up a bit to make it more moldable.

      --------

Here is my evening out stage, I have them as symetrical as I'm going to get them and tommrow I'll sand the rough edges and such down. They look much more like cat ears now.

    6. I don't know if you are going to add anymore Apoxie sculpt, but one thing I did when using it was, once it gets to the point of being stiff but not hard, is to take a wet paint brush (I use the white synthetic sable because it has some "spring"), and brush over the Apoxie. That smoothes it out quite well.

Someone else on the boards (Twigling, I think) uses a rounded pencil eraser to smooth out the Apoxie.

He'll be cute! Si IS a little cat boy!

    7. Thanks strangeangels, I did end up using a little water and such to smooth out the apoxie. And I'm glad you like him ^_^ I got him to be my cat boy and I'm happy to have him finaly come into reality.

      --------

So the ears have been sanded and are going to be painted today. Then its time for him to get a new face-up. o.0
