Kinoko Juice Discussion

I got a Shizuku (with faceup, eyes and wig) through their Etsy a while back. They only sell in-stock dolls, so she was shipped very quickly. In two days if I remember correctly.

However, for anyone thinking of buying the resin Kinoko Juice dolls, you should note that there is a chance of the colour of the head and body not quite matching ... My Shizuku's body came yellower than her head, The difference is more distinct in person than in photos, but also not too noticeable when the doll is clothed. They do mention that there might be 'colour unevenness' and that it''s not considered a defect. Still, I did not expect the head and body to be different colours... so I was initially a little disappointed when I first took her out.

Shizuku is very cute in person though and I adore her faceup. And she came packed well and securely with cute packaging. Oh, and another thing, she is single-jointed, so her posing is rather basic and limited.

Anyway, I noted the colour difference in my Etsy review and Kinoko Juice PM'd me to explain. Here's their explanation.

Shizuku's body parts have a different molding method from other parts. The material is urethane resin, but the body parts are hollow molded, so the toning method is different from other parts, and the colors look a little different.​

I have since gotten over the colour difference but I know that's something that can really bother some collectors, so just thought I'd share my experience here.

For anyone considering a Shizuku/Luna|Kiki/Jill hybrid, it is entirely possible. Their neck sizes are a little different, but with light modding (or none at all) their heads fit on both bodies. I think you'll have to go with Ivory resin for both, since Shizuku and Luna are currently only sold in Whitey Orange and Ivory, and Kiki and Jill haven't been produced in Whitey Orange as far as I know (Pale Orange is a different color entirely).

My Shizuku arrived with colors matching fine, but mine was blank. So I think it's possible the head and body came from different batches but I'm not really sure what hollow molding means in this context.

I LOVE Kinoko Juice (and all the Kikipops) dolls! I have some Jill, Kiki, and hybrids (Jill heads Kiki bodies and Kiki heads Jill bodies). I don't have cats or taller girls yet. (Someday!) Super excited for the possible eventual reveal of the unicorn girl! I don't have fantasy colors yet, but eventually I may. I enjoy their sizing, even off odd, yosd shoes/socks and 7/8 wigs, and some Barbie clothes and whatnot (hit or miss fun to try new things!) They're fun!

 

I have a Daiso hakama too! But it seems like your mileage for the hakama might vary as while the bottom part fits well, the top is very tight on my Shizuka, especially round the arms.

I did buy a lot of other short-sleeved Daiso doll dresses for Shizuka and most of them fit perfectly! Expect for the high school sailor fuku which is waaay too short and doesn't even cover her bum. All in all, Daiso is a good source for clothing but stick to short-sleeves and medium to long dresses..

 

Just saw here that the ears on the unicorn doll are movable!!

Yeah I think this is the best explanation. So many colour combinations that I think a pre-order would be overwhelming if they get many orders!

There are some colors that will probably be requested more. I wonder if there are enough of the same that they will just stock their store as usual. I won a Powder doll! I'm in agreement that the "lottery" was likely a way to ensure they didn't get overwhelmed with orders.

I got the More Basic Type in mint green skin, with cherry pink hooves and Sakura pink horn and tail. I feel kind of silly spending so much on such a tiny doll, but this was love at first sight for me! I audibly squealed when I first saw Powder's promo pictures!

I have Nia/Haine cat questions.

1. Are there any known pants that fit them?

In my experience Obitsu11 long sleeve shirt Velcro back is a snug fit, especially in elbow. I couldn't get pants on even with removing foot. I haven't tried vintage Mattel Barbie Kelly/Tommy or newer Chelsea clothes yet.

2. Wig sizing?

I have one official Etsy Kinoko Juice shop Haine/Nia size 5 long white wig, but am not sure what size wig to get my other two Nia/Haine. Would it be a 4/5? They are tiny!

I have elaborate plans, even if a wig is a little too big I may be able to take it in a little bit. I'm planning on making them into anthro character versions of Sailor Moon Luna, Artemis, and Diana. They'd have wigs and clothes like their human selves, no shoes, but they are cats. I have a Haine and Nia head for each body for expressions. (Artemis has his wig, but needs pants. Luna and Diana will need wigs and dresses eventually.)

3. Has anyone found shoes that fit Haine/Nia? (More for fun/interesting I'm not sure I'd have them wear shoes and cover their paws).

 

My Powder shipped today and the tracking already works~! And apparently the actual shipping fee cost less than expected, so Kinoko Juice has refunded the surplus to me.

 

@The_Modern_Maiden I have an Nia and she wears a 4/5 wig. It fits quite well with a wig cap. I wasn’t able to find clothes that fit, so I ended up making an outfit myself. I still had to remove the feet to get the pants on. Them feet are big, but adorable.

I didn't realize how blocky her fingers were from the official photos! I guess it's because her hands are supposed to be hooves? Anyway, her posing is very limited and she can't even sit up unassisted but she's so cute~!

She's bipedal and did not come with extra hands or feet.

I think I stumbled on the Kinoko Juice etsy a while back hehe! I don't think I realized that it was them even though I saw their Kiki dolls! I really do want a unicorn doll at some point, so I'll keep them in mind since they have one!

 

@nyaaain You know, hybriding Kiki on a big body seems to have some great potential, that caught me by surprise!!

 

My Powder came about a week ago! I love her so much. I chose colors to match my cocoriang crail. I did get alternate horn/tail and wig though as well to change her up if I wanted.

Unsure if it's okay to post this but Kinoko Juice added the additional horns, tails, hands, hooves, eyes and wigs they sold during the PO of POWDER on their Etsy if those of you who got one wanted to get additional colors!

I decided to try a horn and tail to match her hands and hooves and then some eyes that should match my cocoriang crail a bit better too!

I adore Kinoko Juice's dolls ( I own a Haine, a Jill and a Luna all full custom) and finally today I was able to place an order for a blank Powder through their Etsy shop. Can't wait it arrives!

 

Glad to have found a thread on Kinoko Juice! Just nabbed a Munyukuchi Kiki from Mandarake that I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of. Did some digging and she's a fullset from 2012 that sold at auction in Japan. Been eyeing these cuties for a while. I'm excited!

 

Oh wow, she had been listed for that long? Excited to give this poor dolly a home finally! She already has a little sister waiting for her~

 

Punk Kiki arrived! She's very floppy right now. I plan to restring her this weekend (if I can find my missing elastic >.<).

So I caved and ordered a Powder from the etsy shop. Has anyone ordered from etsy and knows about how long they take to ship? I don't mind a wait, just have been unable to locate any sort of shipping time frame. I assume the etsy dolls are in-stock only?

 

Yes, I think they are all supposed to be in-stock dolls. Looking back at my records from when I ordered from their Etsy last year, they shipped my doll in two days. I ordered on 9 June and they shipped on 11 June.
