EDIT: Minor change to the title, because I didn't know "Kikipop" as a title was exclusive to the Azone version of this sculpt! I am working with the resin version of this doll produced by Kinoko Juice Hello! I received my Kikipop doll in the mail yesterday, which was very surprising because it arrived several days earlier than I anticipated (It landed from Japan, went through customs, was driven across states, and was delivered to my apartment in only a little over 24 hours!) I ordered Kiki through Kinoko Juice's Etsy earlier this month. I've wanted a Kikipop doll for years now--I first saw the doll in a Nicolle's Dreams video on Youtube back in my early BJD days--and had been eyeing the white resin Kiki Munyukuchi in the Etsy shop for months. I finally caved and ordered her after cancelling a layaway for a figurine that I had ordered for my birthday back in October, so in a way she is a replacement birthday gift to myself! In total it took 8 days from the day I placed the order to the day I had the package in my hands, though some of those days were during a festival week in Japan (Golden week) before the box was shipped out! I plan to shell one of my anthro-ish characters Jubilee with this doll, and may or may not start a project thread for that customization, since it will involve some significant modifications like wings, a horn, and a magnet-on tail. If I do, I'll come back and edit in some links to those threads! But without further ado, here are the box opening photos I had the patience to take +++ The box showed up in pretty good shape, aside from having one small hole punched in the side, but this didn't end up causing any damage to anything inside. Everything was packed very well, with lots of bubble wrap on all sides! I got a few extras along with the doll, which were all neatly packed on top, with a few freebies! I got a set of pajamas for the doll and a matching pair of socks, just so that she wasn't sad and naked while she waited to get customized. I got an extra pair of eyes as a gift, which were funnily enough the second color of eyes I wanted but didn't end up picking, and a roll of the Kikipop X PeroPero Sparkles collab washi tape, which I was EXTREMELY excited about! I am a huge fan of PeroPero Sparkles, and was bummed I couldn't get much of the collab items, so I feel super lucky to have gotten the washi tape! The doll box was tucked in under the merchandise, and was really well packaged. The box is textured and really nice quality, and also came with this very cute sticker on it! The doll came wrapped in a cute little cushion with a bow. There was an instruction/information sheet tucked inside the box, along with the COA card! According to her COA, this doll was cast in March of 2022. I'm sad it took so long for her to find a home after being made, but I'm glad to have been the one to get her! Inside the box are the doll, as well as the eyes I picked out, and the other set of magnet-on open hands. Kiki was nicely wrapped in some foam so that the resin didn't rub or scratch (I assume) Here is a better closeup of the eyes: the green that I chose, and the pink that I ALMOST chose but was gifted anyway! And here she is! The Kikipop dolls are so much smaller than I imagined they would be (I had originally guessed they were closer to scale with an american girl doll) but if I'm being honest, I think I prefer that they are a bit smaller than I was expecting, as right around 9". She's so cute! The eyes are a little hard to photograph without them looking dark, but that is mostly because of the lighting in this room. I really love the look of the eyes! I think I still might make a custom pair or two, but I won't feel like I need to make them urgently because these ones work so well already. Here she is with her cute little pajamas on! I can't put the hair bow on because there isn't a wig to clip it to yet, unfortunately. That might be my first project! While I was dressing her, I also noticed this cute little signature that's cast into her butt I'm thinking about coloring it in or drawing something around it when I eventually do the body blushing. You won't see it when the doll is dressed, but I think it would be pretty cute as a detail. +++ I didn't take a ton of pictures, because the box arrived an hour before I had to leave for a gallery event and I didn't have the time. (I also just wanted to focus on enjoying my first box opening of a brand new doll, all of my other resin has been secondhand) but I will hopefully take some more pictures of her soon, especially after I get a stand to help support her! I haven't tested how well she stands on her own, but she seems pretty sturdy so who knows. I am almost certain I will be ordering an extra head or two for this doll as well, so that I can use the body for multiple characters! I'm making this current one as Jubilee, but I think it would be really cute to get a second munyukuchi head to make into a little clown face, and the hoekuchi head's expression would be fun as an alternate faceplate sort of thing for Jubilee! Plus, I need to go back for those tennis shoes when the colors i want are back in stock Thank you for checking out my thread! If you clicked here because you also have a Kinoko Juice doll, I would love to see them!
Not sure why the image with the pajamas won't imbed, but here it is again! Fingers crossed this one works
Always exciting to see new initiates to the Kinoko Juice fanclub Actually "Kikipop" is Azone's (off-topic) line, which is the same sculpt, but different material and not produced by Kinoko Juice. You might have an easier time searching for more resin Kikis by using just her name. Also rest assured Kiki is great at standing! Good luck with your project!! I hope you'll share more pics of her as she comes together.
Whoops, thank you for letting me know! I tweaked the title to just say Kiki, haha. Also, I'm excited to join the fanclub! They're such cute dolls, and I'm so happy to finally have one :3
