Yay! There's finally a Kids-Sky discussion thread!

I did a little photoshoot today after swapping my dolls' outfits, and giving them new hairstyles. Here are the fruits of my labor, (Crescent, my KS Moonstone is in pink).

 

Yeah! I have been looking for KS-doll thread for long time.

Moon stone is very lovely sculpt.

 

Oh wow, your two girls are absolutely gorgeous! Those dresses are to die for!

So, apparently Kids-Sky makes a tan skin tone! I'm not sure why I can't find the tan option offered anywhere but on certain taobao stores, though. I may just cave and order a tan Pearl from taobao.

 

I messaged jeeryama earlier today, but unfortunately she's currently on holiday. I'll update everyone with her response when she gets back.

Oooh. That looks like a pretty tan. I did see one of the other ebay dealers mention tan, but I just thought that maybe it was a mistake! I guess it wasnt!

 

@penguinspalace, I know, right? I think it looks similar to Bambicrony's tan. If you don't mind me asking, which eBay seller did you see mention it? Most of the stores on taobao didn't even mention it. I just ordered a Pearl in tan skin, so hopefully I'll have some photos to share of her in the near future.

 

@NekoNyanMew I can't wait to see pictures of your Pearl. Thought it definitely might tempt me to get my own! xD And now that I think about it, it probably was a taobao seller that I saw offering tan. That would explain why I just thought it was a mistake lol!(Some kindof error in translation I supposed, as well as another one of the cheaper companies, maybe Mystic Kids? using a very similar set of swatches, I thought the dealer was just recycling images xD) I use taobao and ebay so interchangeably these days that I hardly know where I saw something (though to be honest I don't mind forgetting ebay items, as I can always find em on taobao later anyway for a fraction of the cost hehe)

Ah, okay, that makes sense. Yeah, I see a lot of sellers half-ass the resin color charts for newer companies. They just use resin colors from a different company, ha. Who's your favorite taobao agent? I was using taobaotrends for a while, but they're having some PayPal issues, so I think I ought to find someone else.

 

I've been using taobaoring for awhile now and I really like them! Their english is pretty good, and they respond pretty quickly. I was using bhiner for a while but I don't necessarily recommend them. They have a very high fixed exchange rate, so even though their service fee is lower, everything comes out to be much more expensive. I also had a problem with bhiner once so not using them again ^^; Next time I order Im going to try out Spreenow, since I did an experiment and got a quote from taobaoring, which is my current agent, and spreenow. The spreenow one came out to be alittle bit lower after conversion rates, since they use a non-fixed conversion rate I guess (the quote was for a kids-sky moonstone actually so this is totally on-topic ;P)
I'd love to order my moonstone now, but I'm going to have to put her off for a little while cause I just (very very happily) committed to a long layaway

I messaged jeeryama a few days ago, and she said that my doll should be ready by December. I'm quietly hoping she ships out earlier. We shall see.

So you must have been the first one to ever get tan? o3o Maybe we were right about them using the swatch samples from another company, and they just tried to replicate the color?
I'm wondering if they "failed" only in the sense that tan is a harder color to sand/can have some discoloration/small bubbles. I've noticed the quality standards for the "cheaper" companies are really high (all seams usually carefully sanded for example).

@penguinspalace, I think I must have been the first one to order tan skin. Unforutnately, I have no idea what "failing" includes. I suppose it could be a variety of things.

@PeppermintPocky, I wish they would have just told me if it was the weather. I'm thinking they may have made a few attempts at making her, and then just gave up.

It's too bad, but I'm off another search now!

I've only had her a couple weeks, but I have really bonded with her.

yes it is! isn't it lovely!! They did such a great job.
I also have been wondering if this is the sister company to Mystic Kids. as their bodies are almost identical.

seriously!! I'd like to one day have a boyfriend for one of my girls.

 

they are both great at posing also! I love how smooth and pretty they are. no seam lines. Yes Lillian was my first BJD

Here's a photo of the sleeping Moonstone sculpt. Moonstone has got to be my favourite Kids-Sky doll. The default faceup is really lovely, and I couldn't resist!

 

She looks so lovely. They have great faceups.

 

Moonstone is going to be my first doll, I'm going to attempt to hybrid her head with a doll leaves body since the measurements for the necks match up. I'm so excited and can't wait until she arrives!

@NekoNyanMew Thank you! I shall be sure to take many pictures once she arrives. I fell in love with her precious little face and couldn't resist buying her considering there was a sale going on. I was originally going to buy a dikadoll sleeping blanca, but moonstone was too sweet to ignore. She'll hopefully be here around December.

 

I'm glad you chose Moonstone, @Bearpeach! DikaDoll has some cute 1/4 sculpts, but none of 'em beat Moonstone, IMO.

She was my first doll as well, but I've since sold mine. The Moonstone sculpt still holds a special place in my heart, though.

I really want to get a Kids Sky Moonstone. It was love at first sight. As soon as I get the money I want to buy her.

finally a thread on these guys! I've been looking at KS Gold for a while and might break down and add him to my list. The face shape is perfect for the boy I want to shell. He is suppose to be a servant like character.

 

I hope you're able to purchase a Moonstone, @thenewmaid! She's a beautiful sculpt.

Gold looks like he'd be great as a service worker, @Queennova201. Do you want to get him with the company faceup, or a custom one? Please let us know if you end up getting him.

 

@NekoNyanMew probably would get him blank. I need to figure out what kind of wig he would wear. I am very tempted to get him. well after the ones that I already have planned.

 

@Queennova201 I really like the Gold Sculpt as well and have been thinking about getting him but I just have no idea what I would do with him.
I really think he would look good as a servant boy. You should go with that. I think it's cute!

@thenewmaid thank you! I want a more masculine sculpt to be his master but KS are very child like. Gold will be very feminine or Lolita styled. I am not sure what kind of clothes I would want him to wear
