How do you keep the headcap on? There is nothing inside the headcap to hook the elastic to, and nothing that really holds the two parts of the head together except for the little notches inside the forehead - so how do you do it? I don't have the eye-mechanism... is there any part of that which keeps the headcap on? Should I just use sticky-tape? Any help is much appreciated - Therese (on behalf of Noonien)
Nope, you have to tape it! For the life of me, I couldn't get the eye mechanism to work properly, just as an aside...
I think it was Grace who said that the eye-mechanism will work better if you don't pull the elastic up to the hook inside the forehead, as the elastic tends to interfere with the eyes' positioning. Thanks for the help Stickytape it is then... untill I can think up something more clever and permanent. - Therese
Hi Therese, Arylon is correct, the eye mechanism is very wobbly in her head. One eye tends to go one way and the other will float, not seated properly in the eye well. I tried it for a very short while, then gave in. The girls have putty to hold their eyes in place and the tape on head, so that it is quick and easy to change eyes. They have very full heads with it in place and you need tiny fingers to work with it all. If you come up with a great solution, please post it for us! Sherry
I wanted to put flocking on the headcap so wigs wouldn't slip around so much, and I figured stickytape would get in the way, so I am attaching some small magnets from Lovelyhouse ears (they got glued on, and didn't need them) at the inside of the forehead between the little notches. I will test it when the putty is cured, and then take pics if it is successful. If I can find more small magnets like that, I will probably put some at the back as well. I'm so over the moon about my Unoss head, I think I'd like a couple more, just to have different faceups and personalities..... - Therese
Grace has a elegant solution for the eye mechanism problem. (there's a post about it on Ethereal Angels) mainly, keep the elastic and s-hook away from the mechanism so the eyes won't be interfered with. I taped everything down and my girl's eyes work beautifully.I love when her robotic red eye is looking sideways, the eyeball isn't white but black. kewl. PS: I use a non-sticky adhesive callled "hold-tru" by Dixon to keep eyes in and I use that to keep the Unoss headcap on. just a little on each side (inside) so that it just catches when you close the cap and it stays on really well without poking outside or leaving a mark like tape. I haven't held her upside down or anything, but so far so good.
The problem with my eye mechanism isn't just that it's wobbly, but one of the eyes always pops off the spring, and one spring seems longer than the other one. I should try tinkering with it, and see if I can fix it. For now, my girl has her eyes ( I love the mirror eye!) held in with putty...
this is a liiiiitle ot, but I dont know, have you guys tried the volks wig attachment stuff? it still can snag wigs a little, but I find that it doesnt snag as much as velcro and works pretty nicely for holding the wigs!
