K-doll discussion

Just saw the completed pictures of Keikei!

I agree chubi, he has a dash of classic Kdoll, but I feel that Kdoll's style has evolved so much over their hiatus. ^^ I'd love to see what people will do with him/her. It's a great head that looks versatile of gender.

I don't think I'll be in the market for Keikei though. Although I hope I don't regret it like I did with Khan. xD

I'm loving Keikei! He is like a younger brother of the older DiM heads. Also, the only one who could convincingly be either a boy or a girl (IMO).

 

Although I need to be downsizing (and plan to get to only three or four dolls), he was irresistible so one normalskin head will be coming to live with me. Wish he came with that micazuki faceup! I'm planning on eventually getting him the new Dollstown 15 boy body. Any suggestions for other boyish bodies?

I've only had a Kian head and admired all of the other sculpts. I'm guessing there will be more 60cm compatible heads to come - thank goodness! I really love her Khan but he's so big!

 

I had my K-doll Kael on a Domuya 1SD male body and now on a DollFamily A-type body, and they both suited him very well.

Keikei really is cute, but almost seems a bit smaller than the other K-doll boys. I love the lips, though!

 

Thanks for the suggestions, guys! I looked at the Dollzone and DollFamily bodies and they're the type I'd like for this head. I really like the fact that they have the chest joint for some slouchy poses. Don't know why DT left it out of the new body.

I was also looking at Sweet Gale's body but her sales are few and far between.

 

I really like that Elegance body! Looks like the resin is much pinker than K-Doll's and that's the white skin, right? Your Kill_U is very cute. I've admired your boys on Flickr - really like your Kael!

 

I'm a big fan of kdoll sculpt, I've placed an order for keikei can't wait to work on him!

Also, I have a 2nd hand (probably yellowed) NS Kian that still doesn't have a body, and I was wondering what the resin match with the DZ body you have your kill_u on is like (since the photo is black and white lol). It certainly looks cute and slim like I tend to favour in bodies, over super muscular ones.

I have a DZ 70cm body for my Gomidoll Igon and the color match is way off from my NS Kian, but that DZ body is also from like 2009 or something, so they've probably changed their resin, not to mention I think the 70cm DZs were a different color than the 60cm ones to begin with.

I'd just recently put him on a body and I was lamenting the lack of active k-doll owners on DOA, but then this thread popped up ^^ Yay~ Maybe we'll see a resurgence of K-doll fans with this new keikei head.

k-llection hahaha... K-doll is my favorite sculptor for heads as well (I have Kian, Kayan and Karon), it's the only one that I have multiple heads of besides Pixydoll (I have Dino and Sevy).

I guess I'll have to do more research on the DZ body... I know the NS Kian head can share a body with my old DOT boy, but that doesn't help with resin matching cos my old DOT boy has yellowed for sure. Oh well, at least I have a body that works for him, even though I have 3 heads sharing that body ^^;;

 

I'm so glad that K-Doll is back after such a long hiatus. Keikei is lovely, the head looks so well-made and detailed. Although I feel more drawn to realistic molds these days, I still love old school aesthetics with child-like features and larger eyes. Keikei looks pretty versatile to me, too, I can well imagine him as a girl.

blackpaperback, your Kayan is adorable! I don't think, I've ever seen an owner pic of this mold. So, welcome, Key!

chubi, Cerberus is a longtime favourite of mine …

I love all the K-Doll molds, they were among the first BJDs I came across 7 years ago when I discovered BJDs. It was so hard to decide which mold to get, but Kill_u won. Mine is a girl named Lil. (Her eyes are modded to fit 14 mm eyeballs)

Thank you both for the compliments on my girl. She's one of my oldest dolls and an even older character in my story, and I love her lots! I found it hard to decide between Karon and Kill_U (Karon was the latest K-Doll mold at that time), but Kill_U looked so lovably grumpy … just like Lil.

chubi, I think I remember Cerberus from back then. There were a few more K-Dolls around in the gallery then …

I hope, Keikei will be available for a while … I am still quite occupied playing with my Khan, Yurij.

Yes, I got him yesterday! I don't have any face-up skills so I'll be sending him right back out (I hope, if I'm lucky enough to get an opening.). Keikei really is a beautiful sculpt. I'm still debating which body would suit him best.

Classy! I love how K-Doll put a real wax seal on their certiicates. Is that a black bag under your head? The head itself looks lovely, I really like K-Dolls consistent style.

Anyway, I was ecstatic when I received my KeiKei head a few days ago..
Its the 2nd head I have ever purchased...
The first from the store directly, as I got my first head 4th-handed.. lol.

It's really gorgeous!

But there's was this little flaw I had a problem with it...
& I was wondering if any of you guys have something similar as well..
plus I wanted to ask if this was normal in k-dolls sculpts/bjd sculpts in general...

Basically, there was this gap between its head cap and some sort of sanding marks at its forehead?

Hi, akiumie! Congratulations on getting Keikei and don't worry, the head I got also has the gap and sanding marks so that is normal. I'm not sure about "fixing" it. Once you put a wig on him, those things won't be seen.

I guess I am just worried that the head cap might get loose with age? Cause of the gap.. Getting a wig cap for him... Would I do more harm that good if I want ahead and sanded that mark to smoothen it out? 0.0 *noob here*

Reviving this thread a bit to ask a question;

Does anyone have one of the older (karon, kill_u, etc) heads on a Volks SDGr body? I'm curious about the fit or if it might look out of proportion on it.

 

I have my Kael head on a SDGr body (one of my favorite bodies!). I think the proportions are good but Kael is one of the smaller heads so the neck seems a little long to me. I may shorten it some day. I'll try to get you a photo, if Photobucket will cooperate.

 

Photo added, finally! Unfortunately, I won't be keeping this body but I think it works nicely with the Kael head.

 

Meanwhile [Spam SHIELD] provided by hosting company has been set on.
So it has been a lot of people who could not have access k-doll.com website.
I couldn't fix it mistaken for other problems, I now discovered and fixed.
I'm really sorry for those experiencing discomfort.

 

Gonna bump this discussion thread, too.
I'm looking for body recommendations for K-doll's final release normal skin Kill_U 1st. Is SD13 too big (neck/proportion-wise)?

 

I have mine on an old Customhouse body which I think has about the same proportions as a SD13 body. It doesn't look too big to me.

 

Has anyone been keeping up with K-doll? On Instagram, she is promoting the release of KeiKei in tan skin (both open eye and dreaming version) but I haven't seen any notice on her k-doll.com site.

Wondering if there is another place she is updating? I am not sure I am in the market for a tan KeiKei, but I would love to keep up with her work because I do love her sculpts. Secretly hoping she brings back Khan in tan~ ToT

 

K-doll has its twitter account @kdollcom and she updates about the releases on there! But I think KeiKei in tan skin is only available for Korean customers T-T... But if you would like to keep up with her work definetely check out her twitter account!!

Dolk Station is a KDoll dealer (I think), I wonder if they'd be able to get any tan skin KeiKei heads to sell?
