I'm using Blender right now to sculpt my bjd head. Well... Blender is not a bad tool, but it freezes a lot when I bevel or boolean this head to make a hole inside. (It took about 10 minutes to boolean the inside of the head... Freak.) This is the 4th head in terms of the number of modeling, but I don't know whether or not to proceed with the actual casting process. The first one finished casting few years ago, and the other two were out of interest, so I quit in the middle. Anyway, I'm making it to fit the 75cm body size. Few years ago, I wasn't able to get my hands on the grail doll, so I just started making the head I wanted instead. Now I still haven't gotten my hands on the grail doll, just improving my modeling skills XP Hope I can get both of them someday... 865 hosted at ImgBB << This is the gif of my head.
Great work so far! Beautiful lips and nose! I have plans to sculpt some heads as well. I've tried ZBrush (free trial version) and wow, it seemed complicated. I haven't done much with Blender yet, although I'd like to try it. At least it is free! Do you have any recommendations for tutorials or other guides that you learned from?
Yes it's pretty complicated if you were complete newbie like me. I read a book named 'ZBrush와 3D프린터'('ZBrush and 3D Printer in English'. Well, I'm Korean and that's why I read this.) and used these skills at blender. I used Zbrush core and blender when I sculpted my first head. I only used blender this time. If you are interested in sculpting like me, watch some youtube blender head sculpt tutorials and try it! It really helps a lot and searching for other bjd heads will also help you.
