I had been looking at her second-hand listing for a good while and caved recently. The mix of an alluring face and some... oddities... in the sales photos were a very seductive mix together with the price. The package got falsely rerouted for a bit but arrived today! DollMORE? Don't mind if I do Finally halfway free! Her face! Gorgeous! Now... to the oddities: Her right-side and left-side limbs had been mixed up! I knew something was fishy on the listing photos but thought that she was just floppy (which she definitely was, too). Restringing action was needed right away - the thinner stuff is what was in her and the thicker elastic is what she is supposed to use. Truly wild, but thankfully the proper elastic was included with her (among some other great items, very grateful for the care package!) There were also some kips discs in the box but unfortunately her... er.. holes are too big for them to work. I'll hot-gluede her later on. That's not all, though. The hands are Dollpire Kid hands with long nails, not Judith's. The resin has a slight mismatch, too, so I assume they have been swapped out sometime later. They'll do for now, but I think I'll want something a little more elegant and mature in the long run. So... this... this is what the soles of the heeled feet look like. I thought, at first, that they had been swapped to Dollmore Fashion doll feet, perhaps? Not enough toes for that, unfortunately! My best guess is that they have been sanded to fit in some specific shoes (or for any other reason I can't fathom..?). If anyone has any ideas *please* let me know. I do love the shoes the seller included with her, though! Just... I think they'll stay on mostly
The parts, other than the joint peanuts, are not marked by L and R, but the system is rather nifty nevertheless! She's stringed together for now, but I'll have to get some more elastic and do the sueding/wiring I think. She's still flopping around a lot. I don't think I've ever received a doll with any basic items in the box, but I must admit it's really nice to not have to start DIYing or ordering *everything* right away. I was also planning to wipe her face but I think I'll wait a little I'm absolutely enchanted. She's certainly made herself home already! Can't wait to see what she can do after some more posing-related maintenance! I will have to put in an order for a decent amount of toes, though... Thanks for joining me for the box opening!
She’s cute, congrats! I think the weird heel feet are made for a resin shoe, and this “foot” is not actually the entire foot but just what’s exposed by the shoe. Like you know how some high heels are kind of ‘low cut’ and expose the tops of the toes? It’s funny that her “toenails” are painted but I doubt there are actual toenails there
Thank you @Fangal ! She's truly something! @overlordu - I wonder! Perhaps? All I know for sure is that it's the oddest doll thing I've ever seen
I love seeing Dollmore dolls She's got a beautiful sculpt and I'm glad you were able to work her stringing eccentricities out!
She is! The box has silky pillows so I can see how it's a preferred lounge spot Dollmore does make beautiful dolls! I think there's still a bit to go with stringing, but I'm glad i got the thin elastic out as well
Congrats on a beautiful arrival! Those feet mods really are interesting! The DIY mysteries of a rehomed doll, lmao... "A decent amount of toes" had me laughing!
"The DIY Mysteries of a Rehomed Doll" sounds like a great title for a tv series I guess this episode would be "8,5 toes"
Thank you @chrstphrl ! For the curious about the interesting feet - I took the nail polish off and this is what I found. Not quite part of resin shoes as @overlordu offered the reason to be, the toenails are clearly there. Must have been a specific shoe-related mod, which I kind of hoped it wouldn't be but... it is what it is The pink pumps *are* nice shoes...
Congrats on your new Judith! What a lovely sculpt! And that face is gorgeous. Thank you so much for sharing. Those feet, tho... wooo. 8.5 painted toes. I don't have any feet like that from Dollmore, but I do have "heel-shoe" feet from Iplehouse, and they look like that - the bottoms have no detail, and the foot has no toes at all so that the feet fit better in the shoes, and the doll is more stable standing. Fortunately, Dollmore has plenty of Judith heel feet in stock: https://www.dollmore.net/Product/Detail/view/pid/10069/cid/148 You might want to double-check with Abby, but I believe that the Glamour Eve hands should work on this body, and they are much more mature: https://www.dollmore.net/Product/Detail/view/pid/10033/cid/148 The kids hands also fit (looks like that's what came with your doll), but they are definitely on the young side.
Thank you! I just received an incredibly fast package from Dollmore with new hands and feet so I have appropriate amounts of digits in better lengths now The original Judith hands are gorgeous, but I assume the previous owner just wanted longer nails - the Dollpire kid hands do seem a little smaller in comparison, though.
@cobaltconduct : Congrats on your lovely girl! She is definitely in need of some TLC, and she's already looking so much better and happier in your capable hands! I agree with you, I think she got the "Cinderella" treatment from a previous owner who shaved down her feet to wear a particular size of shoe. Luckily hands/feet are easy replacement pieces to find from Dollmore. Hope to see how you make her shine!
Thank you @Dybbuk ! She's been restrung and sueded and doing much better "Cinderella treatment" absolutely cracked me up! Really happy with the new parts - apparently she's a super solid stander! Too bad this is what the state of new/old resin match is I guess I'll have to yellow bits... on purpose?! Her feet are the biggest in my whole crew so I'll have to get shoes just for her now as nothing I have really fits. I guess it was good I didn't get new heeled feet, I hope she'll be able to share *something* with her funny nubbins at least. The kid hands are a little smaller indeed. Judith hands use normal s-hooks so the arm/hand poseability became so much better immediately. I'll have to take better pics but here's a quick resin comparison between dollmore, souldoll and myou Spoiler: hands! From left to right - very yellow old Dollzone (15 years+ old), Dollmore ns 2023 (upper hand), Souldoll ns 2019 (lower hand), Myou normal pink 2023 (the fist)
Yeah, new Dollmore is PINK. They like their pink! Check out vinyl doll shoes. Judith's feet are about the same size as a 1/3 Azone or Parabox/Angel Philia/Obitsu body. And vinyl doll companies make lots of cute shoes! She truly has received a glow-up!
I was kind of happy with the creamy colour the doll had yellowed into, but from what I'd seen from inside the joints I was not expecting any of the parts to be *that* pink haha. All my dolls have problems with resin matching, though, so I guess that is just my usual curse That is an incredibly good shout about the shoes! Thanks for the tip!
