Joint-less doll

Aug 14, 2005

    1. Sorry mods if this is in the wrong place I wasn't sure where it belonged.

Anyway I decided to have a little mess about in Photoshop today so I edited a picture of the dolmore body to remove the joints.

I was surprised how much more real she seams when you edit out the joints, has anyone else edited dolls like this? I'd love to see.

    2. PinUpDolls have a no joint body,
but because they have wire inside so they still can pose many different movements.
I remember they are around SD size.

    3. sometimes when i take pictures of Nero for artistic purposes i'll edit out the seams

and you're right that they do look very much real, it's surprising!

PS you're a lot better at photo editing than i am

    4. Ooh! Ohh! I did that with Schtiel's Lewis!! It's really fun to de-joint them. XD
I tried to make it look as realistic as possible instead of just smoothing out the joints. :D

    5. Nefaretabi's done quite a few edits with Lewis to make him jointless : D! They look super nifty~

    7. Thes images are fantastic!
Has anyone evr altered thier dolls expression with photoshop!? that would be so cool1 I can't wait to try it!!1
OT- those pin up dolls are HAWT! OMG! I've never seen anything like them, and they are as tall as one of our own dolls, too. They aren't minis, fromthier waist to the floor is 37 cm. I think they are cool!

    8. That sounds interesting... I think it's time for me to expirament on Lewis some more! :D

    9. Here's what I just came up with:

      What do you think?

    10. Wow, I love the way you've created the shadows on the elbow - he looks gorgeous! Nice work. :D

    11. The one problem with this is that in any pose which would require movement of the collarbone (anything which has the arms up, basically), editing the seams out will make it look like the shoulder is broken.

The 'arms up' poses are the least natural-looking poses because the ball joint just rotates around, while on a real human arm, the arm can only go 90 degrees to the side before the scapula and clavicle (shoulder plate and collarbone) come into play to help it rise the rest of the way, which implies a movement of the entire shoulder area as well. So...

Also there is personal preference. I like the joints.

(this just made me think... dolls can't shrug... )

    12. Thank you! :'D
Actually, the elbow was a total accident. An artist accident. Yay. XD

    13. I think I must be one of the few people that find their dolls' joints, erm...attractive. Sexy? =^__^=;;;;

These edits are awesome, though. =*^^*=

    14. ..i edit "most " of my photos and take joints out ...see many many samples in my LJ,link below good luck with your future photoshop works

    15. I love the joints on dolls, it's part of their appeal to me. But...I still like seeing the edited ones. Especially the ones that are REALLY well done.

    16. Crazy Maxwell and I are joint fans, too. They have terribly nice aesthetics, in my opinion. =^^=

That being said, nice Photoshoppery, everyone! These are fun to look at. :D
