So, living in Los Angeles I have access to the wonderful, magical world of the LA Fashion District. I noticed that a lot of the jewelry I see around that I like is made from different filigree parts put together in strategic ways, so when we went up there on my day off this week I scouted around and came up with this. I just wanted to know what people thought of it. How does it look? Is there anything you would change? Etc. Sorry the pics are not the greatest. I took them last night with flash >< I will try to get better ones when I get home this evening.
It's wonderful! The only thing I might consider changing is to add more smaller filigree pieces in intervals around the head, rather than just the plain chain. It would really knock your socks off then. But then I'm a big proponant of making things even flashier.
I particularly love how the Swarovski crystal matches the eyes. I would also do what Gwydion suggested, not just because it would look more opulent, but because the filigree pieces will make it easier to handle and heavier, more likely to stay on the head without shifting.
Thank you Gwydion! I considered something like that, but I wanted his to be simple. Maybe for the next one! Thank you Victoria Victrix! What would you think about a heavier chain to serve the same purpose? Or maybe a crystal dangle at the end. I made this one specifically for him so I didn't have to worry about different sizes, but it's something to consider definitely. Now on to other questions. Would you buy something like this? If so, how much would you pay? What sizes would you want? I thought about adding some dangles, a teardrop gem in the middle and some chains with teardrops on the sides. I may also grab some things to make some other designs next time I am downtown.
I think there's definitely a market for headpieces like that as many folks like medieval or elvish accessories. As for price, you'll need to figure in the cost of your materials & some of those aren't cheap & add a bit for labor. As for heavier chain making the piece more stable, that would also help. And if you can get some fancier chain, which is generally heavier, it would even add more to a simple design. If I didn't make similar things, I'd definitely be interested in buying those. I'd say to stick with SD & MSD sizes, anything from a 7-8 for slim minis to a 9-10 for the larger head SDs & bigger dolls.
The head piece is very cool ^^ And I just would like to say, I loooooove that face-up! It's gorgeous! =D
