Oh Silk! : This is wonderful T3T the first cast of Jethro and is almost bubbleless! Congrats! Is so comforting to see him in resin and so inspiring, now i wish to cast like you *0* heh Naming your mold was so cute, it looks you enjoy this since you relate it with music. Your resin is quick setting? and have you used pigments?
@Maggs: Yeah, I'm loving his nose too ;p. @Runy: The resin I use is smooth cast 305 and has a potlife of 7 minutes and a demold time of 30. So yes, it sets quickly. Didn't use any pigments for now, since this was only a junk/test cast. When I'm officially casting, I will have to test what colour I want. First setback. I noticed the same problem with Jeth's head, but that one didn't show in the mold. This time however, the rubber made an imprint of the little mistakes. I was working on his lower torso piece and after the first mold moist somehow got under the coating and created blisters and cracks. I don't know how it is possible, 'cause it should be water tight. Hopefully this part will at least survive another two rounds of molding, but I will have to use his resin counterpart as the master in the future. (was planning to do this anyway; clay is so very fragile) Anyway, this means I will have to do a lot more work than I originally anticipated. First I'll have to cast a piece, sand off all the mistakes the molding is responsible of and then mold that piece again. Slow, but steady indeed...
Really amazing work! His face is so expressive, and the pictures you've posted of the limbs have amazing muscle definition. I am curious: how did you get the interior of his head to look so nice? I just finished sculpting my first BJD and the interior of her head looks messy as all get out. Since this one is just a personal project, no big deal, but for future ones I'd love to improve that. Also, do you have any links to resources about how to make molds like you did of the head? I'd like to learn to do that too, but finding resources to learn how is surprisingly difficult.
