I found a bunch of japanese bjd sites, and this one has a tutorial. The method is with airdry clay, like the other japanese bjd tutorials I've seen posted around here...but maybe it will be helpful anyway? Navigation is at the side. The order of the pictures is a bit tricky-Looks like there is a series of post starting at the bottom of each page. There's more than one picture in each post, though. Looks like there's something on casting in there too. http://yaplog.jp/yamofim/category_1/ EDIT: Okay, that site is very confusing, but I found the creater's site which has a tutorial that goes through everything, even casting. The tutorial is the fourth point on the menu(the gallery is the second point). Sorry, I hope this will be more helpful... http://yosimine.web.fc2.com/ Also, here's a site with lots of bjd links. There might be another tutorial in there somewhere. http://www.ki.rim.or.jp/~miho/
There is a photo-diary of the construction of my THAASA-Conone. I hope it will be a help to make Cast-BJD. http://homepage3.nifty.com/doi-shin/DollWorkshop/Thaasa's%20Diary/Thaasa's%20Diary.html
Wow I second that Doi, Shin... wow it`s really extremely detailed and wow you can see the amount of work involved. Incredible!
the more i see your works, Shin-sensai, the more respect and admiration i have for you. my next doll purchase will be w/ you...just a matter of timing (and of course, money! ) a truly remarkable feat of engineering design and manufacture...from one engineer to another. AFR
Thank you very much, everyone here, for watching the pages. It really took 1000 hours, but it would be a good memory of my life.
Thank you It might not be in a while unfortunatly (so I may not be first ops: ) But I like the look of your dolls. They are very sweet
O_O I did not know that you can drill the bodyparts..this diary gives a very clear idea what the doll making progress is all about. I really wanna try this somewhere during the holidays but so many things that you have to keep in mind O_O...I'm gonna pm you fur sure!!!!
wow that was amazing - love seeing this in the different stages and how you kept improving her posing, thank you for sharing!
Hello, monicax86-san, Thank you very much for watching the photos. It was long long time to complete it. But I had no choice other than doing it.8)
When there is a passion for something, there simply is no other choice but to do it. Not doing it would be like dying. I believe Doi-Shin communicates this through his doll artistry. My YOUKI is amazing to hold and move. The painstaking details in this construction make for very fluid movements, and a significantly greater range of motion, and not just in the awesome legs ... even in the wrists and ankles and how the arms relate to the torso. Leaves me speechless (almost ). Lisa
Lisa-san, I was so lucky as I didn't die accomplishing it. Every joint was designed as how it should be, having different concept. I hope your Clio-san will be get used the joints and be a good actress! And be showing us fantasy! Shin
Actually Shin-san, we - those of us fortunate enough to share our lives with your dolls - were the ones who were lucky! Lisa
Yes, I actually erased the page. I am sorry for that..... I re-load it again for a while. I hope you enjoy it.
I really love your Shiny doll body - the way you've done the knee is intriguing and the overall grace and delicacy are wonderful.... and I love the Akali head... I'm going to start saving for at least a body now - I'm also really looking forward to seeing the tutorial. such wonderful sculpts...
Thank you very much for your encouraging words. I am glad that you understand my efforts to make the body elegant. I have already loaded the "Diary". http://homepage3.nifty.com/doi-shin/DollWorkshop/Thaasa's%20Diary/Thaasa's%20Diary.html even if it's filled with only photos.
Her body is amazing! She is so graceful. I'm so glad that you put up the process again, it's really interesting to see how she was constructed.
I am happy with that you enjoyed the page. As the process is kind of "Original/My-way", I hope you take care what to trace from each stage. If I were to construct second doll, many will be improved.
I now removed the "Diary" pages. I thank you for everyone who watched it. On the other hand, "Blog" page is reporting the doll production process (almost dairy). Please visit the "Artist's Sites > BLOG of Doll Artists" on ShinyDOLL.
