Okay, So I basically put my doll on a shelf in 2008 and have only touched him when I have moved till just the other week! He was dusty, yellowed and all his plether clothes had degraded over time. I've been slowly restoring him and making him a few little items of clothing to keep him going while I work on something impressive. He is a Duncan Idol from Dream of Doll (Devastated that they are gone) All those years ago I called him Alexis, but in this time I've changed my name and I think he may be due a renaming as well, but we shall see. I'm thinking high concept wimsical folk horror for themes for him and his story line. I'm also thinking about slowly expanding my collection and have been very tempted by Doll Chateau. A little about me; My name is Theo, I'm non-binary, live in Brighton, England, study history and literature by day and am a drag performer by night. I'm a veruy outgoing person who is very active in my local atavist community, and I love many aspects of this hobby as it allows me to be more introverted which I don't get to be in most of my life.
Ugh! I'm having issues getting pics to load! He does however have a brand new instagram! look for @Alexis_Von_Steel
Welcome back. It's nice that you still have him. I don't remember all the dream of sculpts but I had one once. They were great. I hope you will have a lot of fun making new outfits for him and everything. I love working on my dolls in this way as well. It's a nice little world to have for yourself
{waving from Wimbledon} Welcome back! Good luck with getting your doll back into shape and getting photos to post - are they saved on Flckr or something else? Teddy
OMG, Thank you for the Flckr tip off! Managed to get some pics off finally! Also Wimblefon is close! Do I smell a doll meet some time in the future...
Yay! Sounds good I'll let you know next time I'm hosting a dolly day (provided I remember - my memory is terrible). I've been to doll meets in Brightton too: Dolls - Pigmalion Meet Brighton 22nd July 2019 Teddy
Welcome back to the hobby! I wasn't really into things at the time to know Dream of Doll, but yours looks really good, like the kind I would have bought. Alexis is handsome!
Welcome back! My first bjd was a DOT Camine! He's currently safely stored at my dad's house with my other 1/3 dolls until I eventually move, but I still have him. Dream of Doll was such a great company. I hope you have lots of fun renewing your doll and potentially expanding your collection!
Welcome back to the hobby! Im newly back myself this year after a hiatus since 2012. Im devastated that Dream of Doll is gone as well, its so sad that a lot of the older companies that I loved back in the day have dissapeared. But there are so many new ones out there these days sometimes I feel a little overwhelmed. But the old sculpts and companies are some of my favorites and are the ones that I hunt down the most when looking to add someone new to my own crew. I hope your return is full of fun adventures.
Welcome back!! I just go back into the hobby very recently myself! Your DoD Ducan makes me miss the company so much... Hope you post more of your boy!
Welcome back! I also took a long hard look at my dolls from around the same time with disintegrated pleather pants, and am now here again lol after about just as long.
