I ordered two dolls through layaway with BJDivas for the very first time. Everything went well until I finished paying all of the installments and the shipping fees. It’s been a month already, and I haven’t received any response regarding the shipment. I looked through the forums and saw people saying that it’s common for them to be slow with shipping. This itself is a problem, but it doesn’t really bother me as much as the lack of communication. No confirmation, no explanation for the delayed shipping. During the layaway, I had problems with the invoices for one of the orders. Every month I was receiving duplicated invoices and after contacting them about it, they just told me to ignore it and did nothing to fix it. Even now, I’m still getting random invoices for an order I already paid. My PayPal history is spammed with those BJDivas invoices. I already let them know about it and just got ignored. Has this happened to someone else? Is it possible to solve this problem directly with PayPal?
Is the doll that you ordered in stock or a preorder? Because preorders will only be shipped after they've arrived at BJDivas. And depending on the company that makes the doll, it can take a couple of months. For dolls that are in stock, I'd contact them and ask them about when it'll be shipped. Unfortunately, at least from my experience, they need to be reminded about shipping out orders after you've finished your layaway. I've had many orders with them and all my dolls arrived safe and sound. But it definitely takes messaging them a lot
When I finished the layaway they already had the dolls and said both were ready to ship. I hope it doesn’t take too long
BJDivas have a Dealer Caution on DoA for a reason. Multiple customers have reported "in stock" items not actually being in stock and taking months to arrive, package tracking numbers taking far too long to become active, which Divas has said is because "couriers can only pick up so many packages at a time", poor communication and threatening customers who query the status of orders or ask for refunds, with Divas claiming they will tell dollmakers to "blacklist" the customer. One customer who recently opened a Paypal claim with on the grounds of "item not received" was sent a tracked letter with Divas's refund policy, which caused the Paypal claim to side with Divas as a tracked item was sent and received. Afaik that customer is still dealing with Paypal on the grounds of the tracked letter was not the item they ordered. Their business practices generally are quite poor. A Paypal claim may be the only way to recoup your money, but be aware that Divas will likely contest you on it and may resort to underhanded tactics as they have for other customers.
Seconding what castironteapot said as I have seen the same reports and more. If it has been less than six months for you, open a paypal claim asap. Wishing you the best!
Third'ing castironteapot. Outside of these forums, there have been tons of issues with this dealer as well. I have never ordered from them. I tried once after speaking up about their negative feedback/slow practices, and I seemed unable to make an account with my email address on their website. While I am not a tech guru, the process should have been easy enough. All I want to say is make sure, whichever decision you decide on, you are okay with mudslinging that may follow. While they don't seem to have an active presence here anymore, there was a time period when their fans/supporters were a bit rabid in their support. One unfortunate factor in this hobby is that just because someone is a dealer doesn't mean they are completely honest or straightforward. I just wanted to say I wish you the best of luck and hope that they are just swamped enough that they haven't managed to send it out yet.
Chiming in on what errinreynolds said as a warning that is purely my observation - Divas seems to be monitoring the forum, even if anonymously. This makes sense to me because of how unhealthy obsessive they are about people speaking against them, but after not having any contact with them for two or so years and not publicly speaking about them, I chimed in on a few threads here (all at once) and poof. I magically I cannot see their posts on FB anymore. Not a technical error. They blocked me, which seems to me as if they're reading the forums. How else would that timing make sense? And this is not the first time this has happened. I also have a hidden name on FB and rarely interact with anyone at all (basically a dead account), which is very interesting. So, a little story of my own speculation. As far as the invoice spamming thing, this has happened to me before with them and also my partner. And, like I've said on other posts, open a claim. Not only will it get them moving before your claim time is up, but PayPal will record it.
Thank you guys so much for letting me know about all of the issues with this dealer. I wish I had been more active in the community at the time I ordered the dolls so I could have avoided this headache. I opened a dispute on PayPal. I still want to receive the dolls, they are very unique and the fullsets are no longer available (I pre-ordered a Ringdoll Baldwin SP version with his armor, sword, extra hands an all, and a Dollzone Xiao Chu fullset). However, if they don’t send me a valid tracking number soon, then I just want a refund. I really hope it doesn’t come to that. I was so happy when I ordered them, I’m new to the hobby and spent years dreaming of owning dolls from these brands
@wawa0 If they suddenly update with a tracking number, join the big BJD discord server to find the person who got the letter instead of their items (it's been mentioned before so you'll be able to search the server history and even just ask and people will help), and see if you can submit the proof of that to Paypal to not close the dispute just because they add tracking. In fact if you haven't mentioned it to Paypal already, if possible, I would mention that they have already committed fraud this way in the past. I hope it doesn't come to that and you get your dolls!
This is a VERY good idea. Highly recommend going back to your PayPal dispute and mentioning it, or doing both options and adding it.
