Shopping Is it a problem to buy wigs and clothes from Aliexpress?

Jan 3, 2024

    1. I'm closing my cart on Alice's Collections with my first BJD, and I simply cannot decide the wigs I want. I will buy at least a couple there, but I also want to buy others, but on ali it's a bit cheaper.

I see people posting their dolls here, and there's a section to fill what they're wearing (clothes and wigs) and i'm afraid those ali wigs don't really have a brand. If I want to post my doll would it be a problem?

Edit: And how bad are wig stains? Are ACBJD's wigs free from staining if I buy really dark ones there? (i read dark stains and light doesn't)

    3. ooh thank you so much for answering! I feel better now about saving and buying more wigs on ali. It's so hard to decide for wigs! I only wanted 2 wigs tops and i keep adding to my cart TT_TT i would love to learn to make wigs one day. You make with natural fiber you say? It means real hair?

    4. It's not bad to buy wigs from AliExpress, many sellers there just resell things from taobao. Just check and make sure that they don't also resell recasts!

    5. Do you know any good stores that sell wigs on ali? (i don't know if it's ok to ask for that or to share links tbh!)
I have a hard time searching sometimes because it shows me all these random things related to my last searches and not what i actually wrote down in the search

    6. your welcome :)
Yes is real - but not human hair. I use mohair and alpaca hair. is a fine fibre and is almost like made for dolls :) my fav is alpaca. if you want to see my wigs on my dolls there's plenty on instagram @lackadaisical_angels
the latest I made was for my boy Daniel. his with is curly and I love it :)

Fjusuns Official Store is a good wig maker.

    7. Second vote for aliexpress. I’ve bought a lot of cheap doll clothes there, things that were simple (t shirts, basic pants, etc) that I didn’t want to spend a ton of money on and didn’t care a whole lot about the quality. For that kind of thing it’s perfect. Wigs have been a mixed bag for me but for a lot of them it’s been hard to argue with the price.

    8. I have bought a lot of wigs from Ali, and they have varying quality. Some of the cheapest ones haven't been great, with frizzy fibers and wefts too far apart causing bald spots, but I've also been surprised by others and gotten some really nice ones for under $15! MUZIWIG is my favorite, I've bought quite a few from them, and been happy with all of them. I believe this is Jusuns's official store, I've liked their wigs a lot too.

Thank you so much for the links! I'm going there Right now!!! ♥

    11. i'm gonna go visit your IG ♥ i'll make a doll account to follow you! My personal account I follow so many i don't receive news about most, plus having a doll account will help me keep organized and follow stores as well to see new releases ^^ Thank you! i'll look for Fjusuns ali store!

That's me with dolls rn... I didn't buy a BJD cause it was expensive but already ended up spending the price of one in random dolls >.> help!
There's these 1/6 action figure heads that are so realistic!!! I would love to be able to post here! You guys would like them i think (plus buying licca chan heads that the factory threw out to learn to root hair and paint faces :p)

    12. You can post about off-topic dolls in the Brigadoon. (Though do see if someone has started a thread there already about the dolls you want to post about before starting a new one.)

As for wig staining, I haven't had trouble with any of my dark wigs staining my resin dolls. It's a different story for vinyl which stains quite easily... You can also remove most stains on resin with a magic eraser.

You could try washing your wigs with vinegar to get rid of excess dye. Vinegar is said to help 'lock in' the dye and stop a wig from staining.

You could also use a wig cap underneath your wig. I've heard people say using a silicon wig cap (which is usually used to stop wigs from falling off) works, but also heard that if a wig stains, the dye could seep through the silicon... There are cloth wig caps for vinyl dolls to protect them from staining, so those might be a safer bet.

    13. You can rub a piece of paper on the inside of the wig to see if any colour comes off it before putting it on your doll if you're worried! It is really rare that wigs stain resin, though - and even then it's usually the thread that holds the wefts on the cap rather than the hair itself. A silicone cap, as mentioned above, will help with that; it is good to get one anyway to avoid the wig slipping off too easily.

Even if you do get stains, they clean up quite easily from resin, though! It's not as stain-prone as vinyl is.

    14. Seconding what everyone has said so far, especially about Jusun's.

I will add though: I never buy clothing or wigs from shops using stolen photos, because the product you get might be different/lower quality than advertised. (Not to mention the ethical issues with buying counterfeit copies of official fullset outfits, independent makers' work, etc.) If all the product photos are very different from each other, using different dolls, different backgrounds, different styles of photography, etc. then the photos are probably stolen!

    15. I don't consider it to be a problem either. The most important I think is to check out where you buy, because Aliexpress has many things, legit or not so you must keep an eye on the stores you buy in, but of you're careful it should be fine

About the wigs I cannot say, I never ordered wigs from Alice's Collections

    16. I made a doll IG, followed you and commented! :D

I don't have a lot there yet but hopefully soon my dolls will start to arrive... As for my BJD... at least 3 months to go :0

The paper tip is great! I'll make sure to do that! And also, I'm glad I bought the cap, hope it fits well, and also hope she won't end up with a big head :0

That makes sense! I always browse well the store and product before buying, and only when there are good pictures in the reviews! I don't understand this part: "If all the product photos are very different from each other, using different dolls, different backgrounds, different styles of photography, etc. then the photos are probably stolen" you mean if the same product has photos of different brand dolls wearing it?

I bought one that had good reviews, let's see what arrives ^^

    17. is your name on IG CHERUDOLLS?

    18. @miresmoon What I mean is: if every product has a different type of photo from every other product.

Legit makers will usually photograph many products during one photo shoot, using the same doll(s), background, and so forth. So for example, Jusun's photographs all of their products in front of a plain white background, and many different wigs are modeled by the same Blythe doll, wearing the same outfit.

Counterfeit sellers and re-sellers will steal photos from many different companies, so each product will have photos with a very different style. So one wig will be modeled on a Blythe in front of a plain white background, but the next wig will be modeled on a Minifee doing an action pose in a roombox with pink lighting, and the next wig will be on a Delf outside in the park, and so on.

      I hope that makes sense!

    19. The one time I ordered from AliExpress my debit card had suspicious activity within the next few days :...( However, perhaps it was related to that individual store. I'm not sure! I haven't tried again since then, but the positive reviews here are giving me confidence that it would be worth checking it out a second time.

    20. I bought a lot of stuff from AliExpress ,wigs, shoes, props other non doll stuff. never had a problem and when I did, they were very fast to refund me.

    21. I was wondering if you can buy sewn mohair wigs on Aliexpress. It's hard to find them. So far I've only bought other accessories there and I've never had a problem.

    22. not really...I Neve found them. Etsy probably yes. I made a sewn mohair wig but the problem I find it is that the hair needs to be in. sewn wefts, and wefts get bulky

    23. I once saw a wig in which the hair was just threaded through without knots and secured from the inside with glue. Unfortunately, I don't have the time or skill to do it.

    24. oh I know what type you talking about - is almost like re rooting dolls kind of princess ?

    25. I'm not sure. But the look it was very natural.

    26. sorry I meant say process, not princess !:3nodding:
