Shopping Is instagram broken for everyone?

I’m pretty sure Instagram removed that in their latest update, so the whole idea of looking for buys/sells or searching a sculpt on instragam in broken now

 

it doesn't work. it affects not only sells, but small creators as well. I saw tons of painters, photographers created petitions for bringing back Recent feature, but no luck. So unfortunately it's not only for you

 

On the desktop version, if you click on the bottom right "last" photo, you can page through new individual posts chronologically using the arrow keys on your keyboard or clicking the "next" arrow with your mouse. This is rather tedious and possibly a workaround that will be patched in the future, but it does show the most recent posts.

 

Meta has screwed up Facebook and Instagram. I hate it, if I follow someone or a hashtag it is because I want to see every single post in chronological order but they have gotten rid of most recent or newest order on both platforms. Also every other post is an ad

 

Has been like this for a while now... It sucks, I am getting absolutely zero traffic to my shop thanks to the tags not working anymore. I honestly just gave up trying to advertise through IG.

 

I don't think reporting the issue would help since they clearly intended it. It's shooting themselves in the foot since so many people get tired of scrolling the same things over and over. If any one knows what weird law or business decision fueled this, I'd be curious.

But unless a whooooole bunch of us give them a one star review, I don't see much changing.

 

I just changed my review to one star. What's the point of this app if it doesn't work as intended? Maybe it'll light a fire under them to fix the mess it's become.

 

I hate browsing IG now! I was there primarily for my favourite sculpt/brand search and SH sales. Lack of chronological order made it useless for me. Unless I am already following someone it is also much harder to find new doll accounts.

The way hashtags work now benefits only already big and popular accounts.

I enjoyed browsing specific hashtags all the way down to the first post and enjoy how the different owners handled and styled the same doll through years. Now it is a display of same photos everyday with little variation.

I can’t imagine how frustrating this is for smaller creators/business and regular SH sellers/buyers.

 

It's all very frustrating. The tags seem "locked" into a few specific posts, and to me those never change. It's always the same posts, no matter what, in nonsensical orders. Posts from months ago showing up before posts from a few hours ago.
I enjoyed following creators for updates on their preorders but now their timeline feature is borderline unusable. Every post is followed by some sort of ad. The posts that show up on the timeline are sometimes different from the ones on the creator's IG page and I'm not sure why either.

 

This is the downside of using mainstream social media instead of our own spaces that we are in charge of (like DoA, or your own website). Instagram will do whatever it takes to make more money, and in this case, they probably made this change so that desperate small accounts will feel pressured to promote their posts in order to be seen. I doubt Instagram will change it back no matter how many people complain.

My iPhone is severely outdated so I'm using an old version of the Instagram app, and viewing recent posts is still possible. If you use an Android device, you should be able to revert to an old version of Instagram if you're desperate. However most people can't, won't, or don't know you can do this, so it won't help small accounts in the long run. But if you're determined to see all the #bjdsales posts, or check a sculpt's tag for new photos, it might be worth doing.

 

Unfortunately I'm not tech savvy enough to give advice about it I saw some people on Reddit say they went back to a version from February 2023 and the recents were there. But I also saw a few people whose recents disappeared as early as November 2022, so that's pretty mysterious. I don't recommend going back too far, because my app is several years old and let me tell you... it's glitchy as hell Still works for basic scrolling though!

On Android I think you should be able to turn off a setting somewhere to prevent the app from updating automatically. With iOS, I'm not sure. I do know you can't get old versions of iOS apps once you've updated them, though.

 

My Instagram&Facebook is annoying as well. I see the same over and over again. It´s tiring.
I started to use TikTok and it generates more traffic.

 

Supposedly they did it to stop child trafficking, so I get it...but I hate it...

I used to love browsing and sending stuff to my friend, but it is such a chore now.

 

I don't know if this will work for others but I uninstalled the app on my samsung galaxy phone and then got onto APKmirror and downloaded one of these Instagram 128.0.0.26.128 (arm64-v8a) (560-640dpi) (Android 6.0+) APK Download by Instagram - APKMirror and installed it and it does crash a little BUT I got the recent search function back so it is worth it

Whoever at Instagram thought that removing this was a good idea is a idiot .
