Some of you will have seen this one already over in the "box opening" section. I asked the mods to move it over here from the "Box Opening" thread, (THANK YOU!!!) as it's much more a photostory than a box opening. (Hence the title change.) Enjoy! (Link to the list of Wiishu's other DoA stories.) Morgaine and Vanye are in the house! Normal rarely applies around here, particularly since Wiishu entered the picture, and this box opening was no exception. I ordered the two ChicLines to inspire me to finish the Gate of Ivrel Graphic Novel. They are Morgaine and Vanye, the two main characters of this wonderful C.J. Cherryh book. Wiishu, of course, has assumed they were ordered for him, since everything in the house belongs to him. This is pretty long because Wiishu... helped. A lot. And it is, after all for three resin-folk...since Wiishu never got a proper box opening. Hope you enjoy it! This is the culmination of a long wait. The rest of the story is here: Morgaine and Vanye watch The M&V watch galleries are 21 and 22. It occurs to me I should explain Wiishu's animosity towards females (other than his mommas of course). He had a bad run-in with a blue fairy... Wiishu’s Diary 2012 « Harmonies Of The Net and has been wary of them ever since. Morgaine...is not helping matters. TBC
Too funny! Cutest doll arrival I've ever seen. Congrats on such a beautiful pair of dolls (or children)!
Heh. Wiishu is having WAY too much fun! Very pretty outfits, there. 'Can't wait to see what you do with your new additions. Congrats!
WOW~~~ hohoho~~ Your box opening is awesome!! Love the way you present it! Congrats on getting your new dolls!!
Whew! I was afraid I'd get tossed 'cuz it's soooo long! But Wiishu does that. He's VERY chatty! April: the outfits are the world's simplest robe pattern: http://www.janefancher.com/HarmoniesOfTheNet/fun-free-stuff/patterns/ Morgaine's is made of an old polyester blouse that was my mom's (I think she'd approve of the recycling!) and Vanye's is a really silky remnant I picked up at some point. (I think I'm going to have to give into the brat and make him one of each. He's SUCH a clothes horse!) Wiishu's is a jumpsuit he stole from a G.I. Joe who had decided to become a Shinigami Captain anyway. Kaleai: Thank you! You can see their Graphic counterparts here: http://www.janefancher.com/HarmoniesOfTheNet/manga/Gate_of_Ivrel/claiming_rites/ They'll be my first faceups, so wish me luck! Don't tell them, but I'm making them some actual clothes for Christmas. Here's a "glamour shot" of Morgaine with her actual eyes and a makeshift fur wig. I've got the stuff to make her a real wig...after Christmas! And the two of them getting cozy in a papasan chair I've packed around for 20 years and finally have a purpose for!
OOH! So glad you posted this here to share! It's a great box opening and entertaining ones (box opening + photostory) are the best kind! Looking forward to seeing progress photos! AND how did Wiishu react to tree decorating? We should chat some time next week - no work for me and I will be painting dolls!
Congrats on one of the best box openings I've ever seen. Wiishu is a hoot! I love his little jumpsuit. Can't wait to see the new pair with faceups. Your dolls all have so much attitude!
Morgaine and Vanyel!!! The first of CJ's series that I read; still a favorite. Can't wait to see them all face-upped and outfitted. And Wiishu is adorable as always!
Ohhh I love how your boy is on the doornob calling on mammie!! Congrats on your new dolls! It was really fun to watch your box opening
This box opening was awsome haha. I thought maybe I would get bored because you said it was long.. but it was so cute I had to keep looking, and then it got better.
Wheee...thanks everyone! So glad you're enjoying it. Mousethatroars... You're in Edmond? Do we know you? We're in Spokane now, but CJ was living in OKC back when we began working on the graphic. I moved down and lived with her there until we moved to Spokane in 2000. We're going to be at Soonercon next summer. Wiishu just got back from author Patricia Briggs' house for her hubby Mike's birthday and got to filk and ride a horse! He's very excited. She had two weanlings who were fascinated by him. Hard to hold him and photograph at the same time but hoping Patty got some cute ones!
Wiishu is so adorables! I feel so bad for him, poor boy is being treated so meanly by Morgaine. Oh and I love the way he talks! IT'S SO SUPER DUPER CUTES! ^^
JEEZ I love their interactions with each other and you! It makes me really want to do photostories!!!
Thanks. I use Paint Shop Pro because I'm too lazy to learn all the keystrokes for PS (besides, they're designed for righties...assuming you're using the wacom board with your right, so all the keystrokes are left hand. Sigh...) Mostly for this, it was lots of sparklie stars (one of PSP's "paint tubes") and spinning the image. I don't do anything very exotic. Oh...I think I also swiped a Hubble image from NASA... Only problem...I just realized the box openings, unlike the photostories, disappear after a year! WAH! I'm going to see if I can get the mods to shift this thread over to the photostories forum. Wiishu had a ball with Xmas. I've only scratched the surface with the posts on my blog. I've got to get some of those echoed over here....Time. I need time. Would you believe he swiped that jumpsuit from a GI Joe doll? Much cuter on him. Wiishu says: Tank you bery much. First of hers I read, too. I'm hoping, with Closed Circle, she'll find time for at least a short story or two. I want to know what's on the other side of that last gate! I've got others over on the photostories thread. Wiishu's gotten kitties and a little "brother". There are dozens of photostories on my blog (see the link in my sig.) Wiishu is...very prolific. I've still got several that haven't been captioned! I admit, that one had me LOLing when I thought of it. He's truly a never-ending joy in his outlook on the world and his approaches to being height-challenged! Wow. Thanks! I LOVE box openings. That first meeting is always fun. I had no idea how they're going to go until the box opens. Well...that's not totally true. I knew Pooki was going to lead Wiishu a merry chase, but this one was completely out of the blue as the boxes opened. You've nailed him! Altho I admit, he's proven very very adept at controlling his "liddow brovver." His language has gotten worse and worse with each photostory. I think he's realized it makes people smile and since that's his primary function in life, he's capitalizing on it! Go for it! I just start taking pics and the situations and characters do the rest. I openly admit, I don't bother with fancy lighting and lots of setup. I think it gets in the way, creatively. It also helps to have such an amazingly posable set of resin-kids. Nothing poses like an LTF, I'm convinced. I've played with others at meets now, and while nice, they just don't hold and balance the way the LTFs do. The CLines are pretty good, but I haven't messed with them as much. Pooki (my pukipukipukisha) doesn't really have to pose, tho he can. Mostly he just lolls, hangs around...and giggles. That's Eushu. He always wants to check things out, but he's been amazingly restrained, considering the time I spend with the resin-kids. Just stole Wiishu's wig the first time they met. I actually had to make a concerted effort to play more with him because he started getting depressed and irritable! He's fine now. Thanks again, everyone. I'd forgotten where I posted this, so am way behind on responses! The update on faceups: I've finally gotten some MSC and proper mask and the weather is getting cooperative so...no more putting it off. M&V will be getting faceups soon. Wish me luck. Never done it before!
Coming at this a year late. What a great story! Love the magic fx. And Morgaine, yikes! I understand Wiishu's feelings here. xx
Heh heh! Thank you! This was SUCH a fun day. Morgaine and Vanye are the "kids" that brought my life and business and creative partner, CJ Cherryh and myself together. I got these two ostensibly to kickstart the Graphics project and get it finished, at least as an online comic. Don't know that that will ever happen, but they're certainly proving to be fun. I just got the blocks of 3D printed "chainmail" for Vanye's regulation outfit for Christmas, so I have no more excuses! Gotta make their clothes this year. This is what they currently look like. My first faceups, and not really done yet (didn't seal the final line work cuz I'm not really satisfied with it) but they're coming along!
Morgaine and Vanye's box opening is alive and well at last! It had lots of broken links. Sorry about that. Enjoy!
Thank you! They originally arrived in 2013, but I found a whole bunch of missing pics (been gone for a while) so thought I'd let anyone know who tried to view it that it was all better now.
