Hello, I'm Silvia, a new member from Italy. I'm totally new to BJD world - I didn't even know it existed, before Instagram showed me some casual pictures of realistic dolls and got me totally mesmerized. I've been researching and comparing different techniques, styles and artists for some time now. At the same time, I must say that I'm not new to ball joint dolls collecting. When I was a teenager, my mum and I shared a passion for ancient biscuit head dolls - we actually collected a few and I still have them - I'm not able to part from such beautiful memories. Now that I'm the sole owner of the collection, I take care of each and every doll I have, replacing their wigs and clothes. I even learned how to restring them. Anyway, after weeks of intensive research, some days ago I was finally ready to get my first BJD doll - I sort of fell in love with a Raccoon Dolls model and ordered it. My aim, apart of enjoying the beauty of these dolls, is to be able one day to sculpt my own doll. In the meanwhile I will humbly learn everything I can.
I love the older dolls as well. I have two Bleuette Doll's both from Ruby Red Galleria. Not the originals from France in the 1800's. Although they are based off of the originals and use the same patterns. I love looking at the original old dolls, I especially love the ones with little teeth. The Bru Jeune are exceptionally pretty. Awesome that you ordered your first doll. Which doll did you get from them? This is great place to ask questions. The people are very friendly here! Welcome!
Welcome! I love that you’re continuing something that started with your mom. I’m excited to see your doll and the sculpting you get up to!
