If I am interested in something, I stay interested for a rather long time. I'd say forever, but I am not immortal.

This version of Aiden has a similar background as in Of Toys And Dreams And Piratey Things (be ye warned, there be yaoi at that site and the story isn't exactly kosher), condensed way down because I started writing the story thinking the doll would scale with my other dolls to about age 12, and realized later that he was more like 6-7. As opposed to answering the questions as if Aiden is at the start of the piratey story or completely spoilering it by answering at age 12, this is an alternate universe... and thus, the doll's official backstory, or at least one of them, as there is probably a modern version too.

Staying with Michael. I don't want to go anywhere else. He is the best guardian ever. And he's a- wait, can I say that here? It's a secret... oh, good, okay. He's a pirate! The Mad Priest of the Seven Seas! I get to be a pirate too! ARRR.

Would you help someone who needed it while passing?
Umm... I'm not supposed to talk to strangers. If it's someone on the ship, I can try.

Not if I'm daydreaming...

How innocent/naive can you be?
Michael says I'm very innocent.

Yes!

It depends on if they are nice or fun or not. I like fun people who are nice to me. I don't like scary people or mean people. The other pirates on the ship are a lot nicer than I thought they would be... maybe they treat me special though.

What was the longest time you had a friend?
I never really had a friend before Michael... so, a few months.

Do you have someone who knows you inside out?
Michael can guess a lot of things about me, but he doesn't know everything... mostly because I haven't told him yet. I like telling him things.

I don't really get angry... maybe sad instead.

I can if I don't see the person again.

Yes, I have learning books and fun books and Michael is reading Hamlet to me too!

Not really... I had a few pretty pebbles before, but someone threw them out. I haven't really thought about it now that I'm here.

If it's fun or interesting, a lonnnng time.

Interest! I don't need money, Michael takes care of me.

Yes, and I'm glad my real father wasn't the man I thought it was for so long. I wish my real father hadn't died, I never got to meet him... but Michael is the very best guardian and takes good care of me.

The 18th of April, and I was born in 1802.

I'm too little to fight for real... but Michael is teaching me to fence now!

I'm too little for that too! I'm glad Michael takes care of me, it's a big scary world out there... not scary with him though.

I didn't really have any friends until Michael... mother tried but... she was stuck too, and sad. And sick.

I wish I could have made things better for mother... but Michael says it's not my fault things were that way.

Mother giving me her secret ring that came from my real father, but I didn't know it then... and Michael coming to get me when he learned who my father most likely was.

My mother was nice, but... she was my mother. I never got to meet my father, Michael says he was a good man. I like being young, I don't want to worry about grown-up things yet.

I umm, sleep by myself. Michael made a bed for me in his room.

I'm used to people thinking I'm not good enough... but Michael says all sorts of kind things about me. I'm glad he cares about me... he's... a very special person to me too.

What do you mean? I've never really had control over much before, but now Michael and the other pirates actually listen to me. It's nice.

I, umm, I hope to live with Michael for a long long time.

I help Louis sometimes in the hold, but he does all the hard stuff. And sometimes Michael lets me be the captain! I like his hat, it's too big for my head though. I still wear it anyways.

No... although sometimes I wondered if I would go crazy where I was before. And even though Michael is known as the Mad Priest, he's perfectly sane too.

Back in bad times, sometimes. But I know the world is a lot bigger than me... I just never got to see much of it then.

If Michael can be there for all of it, I don't really care. You can ask him, and whatever he picks, that's what I pick too.

Technically I knew Aiden's true father, Jack Lanham, some twenty-five years ago. We renewed that friendship five years before his very untimely death some months ago.

Not anymore...

It is difficult to anger me, unless someone causes my young ward discomfort. Or threatens my ship. Or insults Shakespeare.

Generally yes, a hard heart makes for an early grave. Of course, in my line of profession, a solid reason for a grudge usually results in an early grave regardless.

Frequently and with great pleasure.

Books, books, and more books. I could also say "other people's belongings" but most of that gets sold before long.

For as long as it stays interesting, of course... or until some new shiny thing comes along to distract.

In the case of my previous answers, the former is for interest and the latter is for profit.

My mother died in childbirth, my father left me his fortune and I cannot tell you if he would be impressed with my having promptly lost it to infamy or not.

No indeed, I am an only child.

On occasion. It comes with the territory.

When did you move out on your own?
I joined the priesthood at sixteen, and left it at thirty. I returned to my father's estate briefly, as not long after his death I was accused of crimes I did not commit. I was given the opportunity to flee and found piracy a most intriguing option. As to which of those points in my life amount to "first moved out on my own"... your guess is as good as mine.

When did you REALLY mature?
I would have to say it was about the time I left the church. I had gained years, but overlooked wisdom. Quite glad I found my head, though I wish I had not wasted so much time.

Did you have many friends?
"Did?" What an odd way to phrase the question. I have quite a few friends, although some I have not kept in touch with for obvious reasons. A good share of the crew falls into the category of friend. And of course, there is my dear young friend who is proving to be just as much a treasure as his father was.

Any action you regret?
Joining the church. If only I had listened to my father... but when I get an idea, that is usually the end of argument.

What is a memory you treasure?
Children's games many years ago with Jack. Children's games now, with Aiden. And that first sight of him playing in the field, as if looking back so many years... and knowing that the rumor proved true. Jack had indeed born a child without his knowledge until it was too late to confirm it himself.


Do you have a dream partner?
I lost the one I would define as my dream partner a year ago. I suppose... that now, I will have to start over. I have Aiden to distract me, to keep at least some of the feelings of loss at bay. Perhaps with more time, I will find it in me to look for love again.

Hah! Amelia was anything but my father and certainly nothing like what I know of my mother. I do believe my taste in partners is free of any such limitations.

I have, but I prefer a more meaningful relationship.

A pretty face, though do not let that delude you. I have no taste for women. A previous answer might bring surprise now, but then you did not know Amelia. I wish you could have met her... and were she still here, it would mean that Aiden could again have a mother, of sorts.

A pulse? Forgive me, but I have been known to find interest in those one might never expect me to like well.

It does not matter, although I am usually the elder.

I am as settled as I care to be, on a ship that roams the seas freely.

If I have interest, and they have interest, the odds are good there will be no delay.

I cannot recall ever having been rejected in the romantic sense. If it were a fickle thing, I would have a witty comeback. Were it a deep matter of the heart... I am sure it would sit ill with me for a time. Until the next distraction, naturally.

If there are mutual feelings, why would I wish to stop it?

I believe this has already partially been answered. As to for how long, I suppose someday I will retire, but I am having far too entertaining a time to give up piracy just yet.

Only if you count my ward Aiden. There is no official documentation that binds the two of us, but then the only official documentation in legal realms that has anything to do with me is things like warrants for my arrest.

Hah! Well, I suppose I am old enough for it, but no, that would require offspring and Aiden is certainly too young for any such grand...wards?

To become the writer I am, I had to claw my way out of the rut of expectations my parents had for me, and slay the demon of law school with a quill pen.

The minute I discovered poetry, I was out in another world, haha! But, physically, I moved away from home at eighteen.

If you had a choice, would you live a calm eternal life, or live a wild short life? A calm eternal life actually sounds like the kind of thing that would drive me insane. Wild and short may not particularly appeal, but it sounds less mentally dangerous. And honestly, quite a bit more likely, considering the types of things I've been involved in.

What is most important to you in the world? Me. Well, I'm not going to lie.

Would you help someone who needed it while passing? Oh, pet, I wish I was the kind of man who could just say 'yes' and be honest about it.

Are you very observant? Observant is my stock in trade. Well, that and knowing what to do with it.

How innocent/naive can you be? I can't. I've tried, actually. No going backwards, though, is there?

Can you entertain yourself easily? Oh, endlessly.

How well do you get along with others? I'm brilliant at getting along with others. 'Surely, all women love me, yourself excepted, and were that I had not a hard heart, for truly, I love none'.

What was the longest time you had a friend? A few years. Not a friend I'd die for, and really, with what he's pulled, he doesn't deserve it, but I'd still count him as a friend.

Do you have someone who knows you inside out? Hope not.

How short is your temper? Things usually just roll off me. I save my temper for serious matters.

Can you let go of grudges easily? More or less. I'll forgive, but I won't forget.

Do you watch TV? Sometimes, when it's convenient. I like a little light escapism, same as any man.

Do you collect anything? Tattoos. Nothing that it would be difficult to pick up and move with, though, no.

When did you REALLY mature? Well, it depends very much on who you ask. Some people will tell you I still haven't. Lies, of course.

Did you have many friends? Everyone who meets me. I'm exceptionally charming, remember.

Any action you regret? Absolutely nothing. It is paid, swept away, forgotten... well, you know how it goes.

What is a memory you treasure? Spending an evening sitting on a rooftop with an adorable intellectual. We talked, looked at the stars... got along for a while. If I'd only stolen a kiss at the end, it might have been the most perfectly magical evening imaginable.

Do you believe you seek someone like your parents(or creator)? Pet, clearly you've never met my parents. Or my dream partner.

Have you ever died? A coward dies a thousand deaths, a brave man only one. I lie somewhere in the middle, so... by that reckoning, I've died perhaps five hundred times?
