OT/General Interesting hip joint design

Jan 22, 2012

    1. Hey everyone

While I was browsing I saw this really interesting hip joint by a japanese artist, I thought I would share, here is the LINK
The design of the joint really looks nice and the legs can be bent all the way to the torso, its pretty neat =)

    2. WOW yes that is pretty darn cool. Looks pretty realistic too.

    3. Ooo, I like that. It doesn't look like the legs could go side to side well though (like a straddle), and it still has that double butt problem that drives me nuts, but it is a great idea - it fits so perfectly with the legs up. The hip is such a difficult area to get working well.

She also seems to have a cool chest/shoulder joint. http://tonikaku1.seesaa.net/article/239511502.html I don't think it looks that great, but it is executed well and seems to work for what he or she (does anyone know who the artist is? the style looks familiar) is going for. I'd love to see what the movement looks like.

    4. Wow, interesting and really different! This artist thinks outside the box. I like how naturally the legs curl up to the torso. I'd like to see the chest joint in action too.

    5. It's a very cool joint. Note that the torso is in 4 pieces, which would also have some bearing on how close the torso and thighs can get to each other. Plus the bottom part of the hip joint which connects to the thigh.

    6. Wow, that's innovative! I don't like all the joints this doll has, but the artist does inspire me to think outside the box a little.

    7. The style and insane level of innovation reminds me of the japanese artist Hanano001, but I have no idea if it is the same person.

    8. Yes, thank you, that is who I was thinking of! Now if only I could read Japanese.

    9. hey wow this is really great, thanks for posting!

irandom i agree with you, it also reminded me of hanano, but I couldn't remember the name of the artist until you mentioned it!

    10. I saw those before. I'm actually following him to see if he'll do something even more drastic. XD
He is not Hanano btw. Although they are both obviously skilled, they have different preferences in faces, body structure, and sculpting material and methods.

He probably builds his bjds with structure in mind more than aesthetic. He sure does put the cuts in the right places to facilitate natural movement without making the doll look too much like a worm.

    11. So natural looking! Gosh, the doll curled up so naturally without awkward angles. Very innovative. But I do wish we can see more pictures with more poses.

    12. Year=年 month=月 You could click on those and see more pics. That doll actually has a separate neck muscle. *u* It's very intriguing how much he is willing to put in.

    13. Wonderful. Very innovative. Thanks for sharing.
