Instructions for sewing shorts?

Mar 26, 2005

    1. 1) Sew the darts first, front and back

      2) Sew the to back pieces together at the curved crotch seam

      3) Front: That dash means don't stich there.. just turn the fabric back and to one side. That's how you're going to get the shorts on. (Figure there's going to be a stap there on the waist band.)

3a) sew the bottom part where the line is solid.

3b) Clip at the drash in there so you can fold both pieces of fabric to the same side. (You're forming the fly.

      4) Now stich the sides together, front to back

      5) Add a little waist band at the top... Don't see a pattern piece for it... one inch wide... about an inch longer than the waist...

Note: best bet on a waist band is to look at another pattern... then this makes more sense.

5a) sew one long edge of the waist band (standard 1/4 inch seam).

5b) run a stich straight up to from the tabs on front and back.

5c) When you turn them right side out, you've formed the edges of the wasit band.

      6) Hand finish the waist band by turning the last bit under.

      7) Hand finish the hems

      Hope that makes sense.
