hi, hi, I received my DollFamily A 91cm merman a few months ago, I bought him in all white resin even his beautiful tail because there are more options for blushing or dyeing the white resin. buuuut I see that some say the DF-A resin is not a good resin to dye. is there anyone that has dyed the newer DFH ws resin recently? I would really love to dye the tail and fin parts first but not if its going to ruin him. thank you in advance for any info
Im planning to dye a dfh white resin body to a pinky flesh tone soonish. Idk why they wouldn't take dye right, but I'll try to remember to report back about it.
I had some slightly uneven results dyeing DFH resin but nothing some finessing with magic eraser couldn't fix. Especially if you build up to the color you want slowly, with multiple dyebaths. I think my ancient blog linked in my signature still has my Troubleshooting guide to dyeing dolls.
I have never dyed anything before but my merman tail is awesome so I think it should be dyed before blushing..if I can get him apart without cutting his strings..he is so freakin tight I can not even get the S hooks out of him.. anyway, I hope to find your blog. if I can. thank you for the info Rosslyn thank you for the info,
Just dyed my white df-h boy at last! Went very well, 93% smooth results that I'm very satisfied with. The only blotchiness I had was not on account of the resin but using an older dye that's pigment had separated a bit, so there was some pigment floating on the surface of the dye bath. This would have been remedied if I'd dipped him in a mesh bag instead of just on strings, and most of it wiped off very easy with a little magic eraser. The resin itself dyed great, you shouldn't have anything to worry about!
