Props In Need of Fantasy/Elven Finds!

Jun 2, 2022

    1. Hello All,

I'm eager to try and cobble together more photo opportunities for my newest pointy-eared Tiny Delf boy, whose character is meant to be situated in a fantasy/fae-esque milieu. Alas, I'm a bit strapped for appropriate prop ideas currently. Are there any neat fantastical finds that I could pick up at craft shops or the like that could suit him well?

I'd be interested in tips on constructing simple backdrop boards for dolls, as well!

    2. I live at craft stores! I am always picking up fake leaves or plants to try to make cool settings. It depends on what kind of setting you are going for. I really like going into the woods for nature photos. :)
I haven’t tried it myself but I have a friend who made a cottage inside setting by buying a cheap knock off baby doll table/chairs and using poxy sculpt to make it look more like knarly wood. Popsicle sticks work well to make furniture too if you are handy with a glue gun. :)

    3. Check the miniatures and fairy garden sections of your craft stores. They sometimes have little props or furniture pieces that are in scale with tinies. I made a little nest for my Lati yellow out of a fairy garden ball and some lights. The best times to find these items are spring and near halloween, but most craft stores have at least some items year-round. I sadly don't need it for any of mine, but michael's has this adorable little set of fairy wands...

    4. Garden centres sometimes have appropriate sized things.

    5. Craft stores (and lately, the craft section at Dollar Tree!) have tiny glass bottles with corks that would be perfect for little potion bottles and the like. The jewelry sections and scrapbooking sections of craft stores also usually have cute little knickknack things that would work well for tiny fantasy props.

    6. I haven't tried this site myself yet but I saw this recommended from another doll collector for trinkets! Manto Fev Home Page

    7. Look at jewelry boxes and the desk organizer sections of stores. I've found a lot of cute boxes for rings or paperclips that work as end tables or benches. I've got a mixed group so one size's coffee table is an alchemist's table for another size.
