In love with a discontinued sculpt

Jan 26, 2017

    1. Me too! And especially after the hype for the movie died down, it's been so difficult to find anything cute for him. They did a beautiful job on him and the price really reflects all the beautiful details.

They did! It was so niche I didn't think anyone would know the series. He looks sooo pretty, I've seen owner pics and fawn over them. :love

    2. Now my fingers are crossed that they re release him. That or I gain the skill to do a faceup of that quality out of nowhere haha

    3. I was out of the hobby for a good while and recently came back to finish my Four Sisters hoard. But I've recently found out that the F-03 mold been discontinued in 2015. :(

They still release it as a limited release occasionally for events which keeps me hopeful! A natural one was at the recent Osaka Dolpa Party! Unfortunately no proxy I know attended leaving second hand as the only option. ;( I've always wanted this sculpt in tan and another in natural as I already have it in white. Finding it secondhand in tan might be next to impossible as I've only ever seen two posted online since I've been in the hobby and they were not for sale. ;(

I'm not sure which is worse; wanting a limited edition sculpt or one that's been discontinued? Lol

    4. I was able to finally get one beloved discontinued sculpt (a very limited Luts BabyDelf Daisy Elf) on the secondhand market. But there’s one I will never have, that gorgeous hunk of huge beefcake resin, Iplehouse Luo. He’s long discontinued now, and every time I see one, I still sigh. But alas, I could never come up with a character to suit that sculpt or warrant the size, so I just continue to love him from afar.

    5. Doll Chateau Xanthe. I think I still have dreams of that doll.

    6. Discontinued dolls depress me in a way that limited editions don’t.

My wishlist has always far exceeded any feasible plans, or even what I’d want in a collection. Too many dolls would be overwhelming for me. Still, when a doll I love is in production, I can still enjoy it vicariously when someone else gets it. It can make waiting room threads fun even when I am not waiting for a doll myself, to give an example.

Once a doll has been it’s discontinued, there are far fewer chances of seeing someone get happily excited over it. There’s a much stronger sense of loss over too, I dunno how to explain it.
